I appreciate your quotes around "a man's job." !! My perception of Rosie is that she jumped into a partnership with the guys & gals that were suddenly needed elsewhere. She did hers & their jobs while they did theirs.

My perception of HIllary is that she has been planning & working toward this since a young woman.

Rosie the Riveter was a recruiting poster for women in 1940-1946 when they were called upon to assume responsibility to help keep the military-industrial machine going to provide material and product for the war effort. Once they realized their self worth many never went back to being just domestic engineers. The world has been a better place as a result. My wife has a bigger pay check than mine and I'm proud of that fact - I support her career. I dearly look to the day when I can become a full time house husband. And invest 24/7.

Excatly !! Thanks, Birchtree - I certainnly didn't make that clear in my comment about the women jumping in - to do the factory work, & toy factories. for instance, suddenly changing over to make weapons & other equipment needed by the guys overseas.

And invest 24/7 ???? What a life that would be !!! (No small children at home to interrupt, I gather !)

Guys / Gals

Well everyone has shot all of their fire-crackers, drank all the suds, ate the baby-back-ribs, and are now yaking off the callories!

Off subject. Will be getting a new Schnauzer soon and I need to find a name for him/her.

I was thinking about "Dubwa"! But the second half didn't like it when she found out what it really meant! Sorry Tekno.

Any ideas?

This is harder than trading! Rgds :) Spaf

Hillary is too far to the left to be an effective president. Electing her would only serve to sharpen the already-nasty division in this country.

Lieberman or McCain would make a better president, IMHO. Neither party will nominate them, though - they don't have sufficient appeal to the rabid base of each party.

At the end of the day in modern politics, common sense loses every time. :@

Norma Jean Baker worked as a "Rosie" in a California defense plant where she was discovered, later tobecome Marilyn Monroe.

It was a working holiday for me, been on the night-shift. So look what happened -- the euro has fallen (I-fund going down), oil has surged (C-fund going down). They're still on vacation in NYC, volume will be down. It looks like we are going to spot them a few pointstoday to start the week, a short week. Expect oil to continue to rise this week as another, secondtropical system is getting set to run up toward the Gulf coast. (Initial progs take it right over my island Saturday, headed north.) They may have to evacuate a few rigs

I better fill up today, then... at least that way, I'll be insulated from a gas price spike for 10 days or thereabouts. :P

Did I miss something? The Small Caps have continued to trend up showing what appears to be some strength. But just like when the I fund kept climbing the wall of worry last fall and Jan- Mar of 05, the herd did not reallytaken advantage of this trend. If the trend is going up, is it the emotion and fear of 'what if ?',that is holding people back, instead of following the trend. Is this an true example of climbing a wall of worry? Now that the small caps have broken to new highs, what should be the plan so as not to get caught in a trap, but yet take advantage of all these people that now think they missed out and are jumping in. Any comments. Thanks.

Spaf,

The market had proved historically that it is always BULL but with corrections... Look the S&P in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80, 90s. etc... BULL BULL BULL but with corrections. Long, Mid, andShortterm corrections... there is a strong sentiment the market is going into a short term correction... That is way I am neutral (Cash is King) at this time instead of the leader the S... Hope to go into the S as soon as possible but for me is not yet the time... I will wait so I can buy the bottom... Patience is profitable virture :^

1 1/4% for 30 days. What would this figure out annually??

1.0125 to the power of 12 is1.16075 or 16.075%

Colin Powell needs someone telling him what to do.....like standing at a press conference pointing out trucks on a aerial photo that are FULL of chemical weapons. At least that's what they told him they were. Now Colin ,go tell the world.

If this equates to 16%-17% ROI, wouldn't that be a great guaranteed investment as opposed to investing in a market that may or may not come close to that, and may actually lose $$?

Maybe I'm confused, but if that is true, please give me more details so I can get an account!!
