  • Haha. A big, belated thanks Grandma - 8 months later! Guess it's been a while since I looked at my profile areas -- first time I've noticed your PM. I haven't started an account talk thread yet -- don't think not I've got any knowledge worth sharing at this point. Hmmm ... I can't really say for sure whether my New Year's and Christmas gifts were combined, but I did always feel somewhat shortthrifted with my Bday being 1/1. At same time, I was 1 of 9 kids in a 1 income family (Dad was a local truck driver) so we never got a lot on our B'days anyway. Christmas was a blast though -- 9 kids worth of gifts every year. Best wishes to you too! Khotso (Sesotho word for Peace), Khotso
Haven't heard of any particular difficulties in the area where we visit... but then again it is pretty far south... their current highs for the day are in the mid to upper 20s with lows in the single digits... so while not balmy not really unusual either. However, at those temps when you travel 6-7 hours north, then things could get to be pretty cold
Thanks for the birthday wishes grandma. I had a truly special Thanksgiving. I have a lot of family around, and many that came from out of town. Mom and Dad were both there.:D
    Hey Pat,

I hope you are doing well with all this hot weather. My daughter is getting married a week from tomorrow outside in South Carolina, I hope it cools off some, but I'm not expecting it to. I'm doing ok, but we've got the heat and humidity also. By 9 am, ya can't do anything outside. I'm still retiring Aug 31. I may not have any money, but I'll be able to sleep in. lol

I didn't hear from Scrappy so I guess he didn't visit his Aunt or it wasn't convenient.

I guess I'm persona non grata on the TSP board. I had 2 of my posts today deleted, with nary a word from anyone. I guess the board has really turned socialist and is censuring people they don't like. And my post was just commenting on the stock market.

I'll still check my mail, but I'm not going to waste my time posting anymore. They don't even have the decency to let ya know why they censured my posts.

    Take Care of yourself,
    Rus
I just saw you message from last week.... HAHAHA it was meant to be a joke... thanks for the warm welcome.... Let see how things go... Cross your finger!
Hello Grandma. I finally figured out how to leave you a return message, to yours from (gulp) January!

I actually joined the board in 2005 under my real name, Dave M, but became so turned off by the attitude toward muslims expressed by a certain member who uses trees in his avatar, and the fact that Tom would not discipline him (kick him off), I quit the board in '07 in order not to associate myself with such barbarity. But I still wanted to read and learn from the more civilized members, so I wrote to Tom and asked him if I might come back, this time under my old college nick name.

No, I'm not on the tracker. I am just months away from retiring so I'm in the G-fund mostly, not very exciting. Still, there are lots of folks doing worse, which is a huge bummer.

So thanks for stopping by and back at ya!
    Hello there-
Just stopping by to say heya.
We finally got more than one day of sunshine out west, so the roof moss has slowed it's progress!
    See ya round

Hi Grandma...I do it more out of habit and my lingering disdain for the TSP board for locking us out after 2 IFTs. At least I feel I have a little more control and can allow for about a 5% every other day increase in equities. I dont track each L fund. Just my daily % increase/decrease in overall balance. Note that though you may have an, i.e. 2.00% balance in any fund showing on your accouint, it might actually be 2.005%, in which case you could round up to 3.00%. Just have to enter allocation and see if it works.
Thanks for the kind words but I must tell you the reason for my story was to remind people that alot of those who visit these pages are military and in our political discussion threads we can get some what nasty. I only hope people keep that in mind and tone it down.
Hi there. I have opened to PM's thanks for letting me know I had that checked moderators only.
Just saw your note. I have not run many races in awhile due to an injury. My age is catching up with me. But I intend to start back in the coming year, a little slower. My signature is just how I feel about the whole political, economic, social mess we have, no one wants to use common sense anymore. Willful Stupidity is what I call it.
    Hi Pat,

Just though I would stop by today... Glad I did and you'll on line.

    Barbara
