I'm contacting support now...

They said there is a problem with the server and they are "tuning it up" now. If the problem persists they may have to move us to another server so that could mean some down time later today.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Not the Hindinberg Omen again?

Seems everyone and his uncle is aware of the ominous approaching of the 4-year cycle low due in October 2006.

When looking at the 4-year cycle tops of 1966, 1994, and 2002, in all 3 cases the market rallied out of a 4-year cycle lows in October and charged ahead for 3+ years, ultimately gaining more than 60%. So what if we perhaps have already had this low a year early - then what. Care to speculate? This could be the start of a secular bull market megatrend. Whew!!!

Dennis - aka Birchy full of bull manure

Dennis,
Do you have a specific chart or a link to the 4-year cycle lows?

Wrong term

Tom,

I hope Mlk-man allows the Wizard to return soon - he apparently used the wrong word when he described me as being full of bull manure - I take that as a compliment. An organic gardner can't produce crops without good sweet bull manure. Bull manure is what makes the green money grow. I've seen Bear manure and it ain't pretty to look at. Not very productive stuff. Anyway I look for tomorrow to resemble today- which was good for target shooting. Lots of energy commodity stocks popping up everywhere.

Birch -

You may or may not have been full of whatever it was he said you were full of, but there were nicer ways for him to say it. ;) But Wizard has not been banned or anything.

Tom

I would have banned Wizard for his signature of Gold is going up and the dollar is going down. Those words were much more traumatic then anything Birch said. LOL :)

Anyway with Oil in the high $60s, Iran conflict of some kind be it economic or Air campaign mounting, I believe any gains in the short term is all guess work especially given the trading confines of our TSP.

Remember when stocks looked like a sure thing to most people in 2000? Now that place has been taken by real estate, and many people now see stocks as inherently risky and dangerous. This is classic mentality. Hope they all enjoy their new porches.

Dennis

BTW, for anybody that reads the posts around here with an open mind and not a set opinion, this post makes me think Birch is referring to the Dow being up past 11000 in 2000 then a few months later it dropped to 9000. This leads me to believe that perhaps Birch thinks that people now consider real estate the safer investment but his opinion is that is the riskier of the two. Is this correct Birch or am I way off course?

I'm inclined to believe this also, but only in certain parts of the country. Like where I am. I think there are still good investment opportunities in some locations.

Five people can read an article and what will you get? Five different opinions of what was being said.

I would have banned him for assaulting us with images of Kramer's (Cramer's?) homely mug.
:shiver: :(

Not banned yet

He has only retreated to sharpen his Bear claws - he'll hopefully be back in full regalia. Bear suit included. Where else can one get such an informed opinion that is so.....well you know.

Mlk-man,

You are straight on course, flying like Evinrude. Remember him from Disney. It's just another day in the markets. The Technician recommends I flex up, how much more aggressive can I get - oh, I know, go 100% into the S fund. You all have a prosperous day today - and I'll have one too.

Getting more

powerful downstrokes on the Wilshire and EAF....S&P being down of late is mediocre.....still looking for possible corrective move in coming days...

I see at the time of this post that the S&P finally has broken through the 1260 support. We will continue the down trend? For those smart investors that have been riding small caps since the end of October, they probably already have taken some profit. But for the new investors that jumped in small caps after Jan 20th they will not want to ride this sled very long.

for the S&P now....down down down....slip sliding away....wonder how far we go today.....we certainly have room for a good drop.....

Ohh the humanity.......hey Birchy, don't run off and leave us here all by ourselves....stick around, today could be interesting....
