CountryBoys's Account Talk

----- The Best Surgeon In California

Three Californian surgeons were playing golf together and discussing the surgeries they had performed.

One of them said, "I'm the best surgeon in California . In my favorite case, a concert pianist lost several fingers in an accident, I reattached them, and 8 months later he performed a private concert for the Queen of England ."

The second surgeon said, "That's nothing. A young man lost an arm and both legs in an accident, I reattached them and two years later he won a gold medal in track and field events at the Olympics."

The third surgeon said, "You guys are amateurs. Several years ago a woman was high on cocaine and marijuana and she rode a horse head-on into a train traveling 80 miles an hour. All I had left to work with was the woman's hair and the horse's ass. I was able to put them together and now she's Speaker of the House."

I just wondered what happend to her flying monkeys.

CB, an oldie but classic! Keep it up and don't worry too much, the union will survive and we need to let the "kids" keep the keys we handed over to them. Remember, your Dad said you were f***ing it all up too. (just as mine said) Have a good day and enjoy the family around you.

Hey PessOpt,

I am an oldie, but surely not a classic and ya may get other terms for me from several folks here. I always tell my daughter that we'll get thru thid, but I'm afraid, we'll have some major changes to the Constitution before a safer driver gets behind the wheel. Oh the family is the only thing we got, cause it sure ain't this admiistration.

Trying to keep the faith,

Good for you all knowing one, MLK was wrong and you're right and as usual you're missing the entire point. BUt you apologized for you're main man.

'Green' lightbulbs poison workers
Hundreds of factory staff are being made ill by mercury used in bulbs destined for the West.

WHEN British consumers are compelled to buy energy-efficient lightbulbs from 2012, they will save up to 5m tons of carbon dioxide a year from being pumped into the atmosphere. In China, however, a heavy environmental price is being paid for the production of “green” lightbulbs in cost-cutting factories.

Large numbers of Chinese workers have been poisoned by mercury, which forms part of the compact fluorescent lightbulbs. A surge in foreign demand, set off by a European Union directive making these bulbs compulsory within three years, has also led to the reopening of mercury mines that have ruined the environment.

Doctors, regulators, lawyers and courts in China - which supplies two thirds of the compact fluorescent bulbs sold in Britain - are increasingly alert to the potential impacts on public health of an industry that promotes itself as a friend of the earth but depends on highly toxic mercury.

Thank goodness our pols are smarter than mandating these light bulbs....wait they have mandated these. Well socialized medicine will be sure to cover this. And of course with our disposal record, these will be disposed of in a clay lined or impervious lined landfill, so as not to poison out groundwater..... uh huh, we do such a great job at protecting the environment, not to mention these light bulbs tend to increase the occurences of migraines and epiletic seizures. Man you just can't make this incompetency up. At least the lawyers will make money on this.

So much idiocy and so little time. It's another Sienfeld episode. What greenie weenie had this brain fart? We need more stories like this, kinda like the Darwin awards, ya just gotta laugh at the stupidity of trying to save energy, by poisoning people and the environment. Guess where the term mad as a hatter came from. ;)

Soon enough the Greens will be linking hands and chanting stupid protest songs around a CFL. They are generally scrawny enough to require more than one for that kind of protest, eh. :D

Maybe when these Green Clumps get arrested at their next protest they should get sentenced to three months in a Chinese mercury mine :p

Waitamiinute...European ROHS Directive banned use of mercury in electrical and electronic goods...I need to look into this. These should NOT be selling in EU - unless this is another of their not-so-smart exemptiions. My "favorite" is the cathode-ray tube exemptions - CRTs are the largest source of lead (which is one of the other of the 6 substances banned under ROHS) for all electronic goods and it got an exemption in the actual regulation - if they were serious they would just make people buy LCD's!

OR do we have two opposing EU Directives here...oh this could be fun.... Who will have more fun, Companies trying to sell these bulbs or the EU trying to explain to us how this works after we raise the issue?

How many times do we have to explain it's not the substances you need to ban, its how you handle (No OSHA in China) and dispose of them...and how much exposure you get. You get a LOT more mercury from a coal plant.

Yah, I just fielded a question from remote higher-level agency person on the subject of mercury about 2 weeks ago. they wanted to know why elevated mercury levels in certain wild critters parts east of here-wanted to know if it was natural, since state doesn't have a safety alert out for eating the critters from these areas-yet. I said no, no, its NOT natural-we have coal-fired plants west of here with east-bound plumes-mercury, as well as concrete plants in the immediate vicinity of one of the contaminated populations of critters-another known mercury source.

Not to mention historic wildland uses of mercury in our part of the country-states used to monitor water quality for mercury levels in parts of the western U.S. for that very reason-as recently as the 90s. And I participated in cleanup of an old mercury mine a number of years ago in a remote area-WWII era mine, so it's an issue and may recycle as an issue again.

I have a few CFLs in my home-disposal is an issue tho that haven't had to deal with-yet-they last forever almost you know. :suspicious: Can truly say I have thought about the disposal issue, actually. We have toxic waste community cleanup days every few years-including collecting mercury thermometers, so maybe that will evolve into CFL collection opportunities as well. But again-longterm disposal-not sure how much thought has been given-yet.

Who is your real friend?

This really works...!

If you don't believe it, just try this experiment:

Put your dog and your spouse in the trunk of the car for an hour.

When you open the trunk, who is really happy to see you??

Obama Democrats Accent Bullying Over Governing:

May 5 (Bloomberg) -- So Michele Bachmann’s version of history is “from another planet.” Bobby Jindal, the Republican governor of Louisiana, is “chronically stupid.” And Eric Cantor of Virginia, the second-ranking Republican in the House, is “busy lying constantly.”

That at least is according to posts on three left-leaning blogs.

Writers who are not pro-Barack Obama are suffering character assassination as well. George Will of the Washington Post, the nation’s senior conservative columnist, has been so assaulted by bloggers that his editor, Fred Hiatt, recently wrote, “I would think folks would be eager to engage in the debate, given how sure they are of their case, rather than trying to shut him down.”

The disconcerting thing isn’t that the bloggers or their guests did this slamming. We’re used to such vitriol in campaign time. What is surprising is that the attacks are continuing after an election.

In the past, politicians and policy thinkers tended to be magnanimous in victory. They and their friends focused, post- victory, on policy and strategy -- not on trashing individuals.

.......

Still, somehow, the magnanimity isn’t there. Indeed, the closer the Democrats get to total power, the nastier the commentators friendly to them have become.

And this from Bloomberg also, can't hardly say they are some right wing nut job for an excuse. Libs are getting nastier and are bullies, surely not, but then they again it might be "onmylist" website or is that a wishlist. That's the gospel website when it comes to the socialism for the libs:laugh:

Next on Senate agenda? 'Pedophile Protection Act'
'Hate crimes' law definitions would protect 547 sex 'philias'

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=97115

Yeah I know how the games are played and I'm against hate crimes as much as the other person. As far I'm concerned all crimes against another person are hate crimes, but this protection of child predators just leaves me speechless. Have you no shame?

It's HR 1913 for those that don't believe it unless it comes from a small group of sources, whether it passes or not, it's nauseating that the libs would even consider something like this. I'm so mad I could spit nails and bHo is ready to sign it. This and the people who support or even defend it is disgusting. Preying on children?

Does anyone else have a problem with this or do they just accept it as the Grand Plan and they are innocent as new born babes, nothing at all sinister?

LIFE WITH BIG BROTHER
Census GPS-tagging your home's front door
Coordinates being taken for every residence in nation

Some people think it is, and are upset over an army of some 140,000 workers hired in part with a $700 million taxpayer-funded contract to collect those GPS readings for every front door in the nation.

The data collection, presented as being in preparation for the 2010 Census, is pinpointing with computer accuracy the locations and has raised considerable concern from privacy advocates who have questioned why the information is needed. They also are more than a little worried over what could be done with that information.

Enhancing those concerns is the recent decision in the Obama administration to have White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel in an oversight role over the census, which will control a reapportionment of congressional seats and could be used to solidify to a stranglehold a single political party's control over the nation, its budget, military and future.

........

He recalled wondering why, just weeks ago, the Obama administration announced its oversight of the census, "literally taking control of the census away from the Commerce Department."

"The Obamites, thirsty to serve their new messianic figure, have lost enough of their objectivity to be willingly recruited into such an insidious program like gaining these coordinates for the U.S. government. … I ask again, what would be the purpose of shooting the GPS coordinates of American doorways?" he wrote.

The answer he provided was alarming.

"Imagine, if you will, that there are a number of people in a neighborhood that could not find the addresses they are tasked with finding. They are not locals, maybe are unable to read a map, or perhaps do not have the time to pull out a map, and they need to find you with specific GPS coordinates. Their devices would lead them to your front door with these coordinates. Imagine a crisis is afoot, and martial law is put into place. U.S. troops need to round up particular folks," he wrote.

According to the Census Bureau's website, the GPS technology "allows us to reduce the amount of time spent by census workers in locating addresses … Most importantly, by adding a GPS coordinate to each housing unit, the Census Bureau is able to ensure that residents are counted in the right location."

( My comment - And for those that will say that this is for 911 emergency purposes only, are full of it. As far out in the country I live, then turn onto a gravel road for a mile, the Fire and Police Dept, UPS and Fed ex can find us with their Garmins or Tom Toms, just by typing in my long 911 addy, so that excuse is BS. Just another Air Force 1 flyover waste of money. Use the tech that is on the shelf.)

At Canada Free Press, commentator J.B. Williams said, "I can't resist the urge to question the authority and purpose behind such a BIG BROTHER initiative, when the official census itself is not due to be taken until 2010…

"No imagination is required to think up a whole laundry list of evil that could be done with a nationwide GPS grid of coordinate's markers painted on every private home across the country. But I was having trouble thinking up one good reason for it, even one legitimate use that would justify what must be a very expensive undertaking," he said.

"Why does the Obama administration need or want the latitude and longitude coordinates for every home in America? Why the rush to GPS paint every home in the next 90 days? Why must the marker be within 40 feet of every front door? For what possible purpose does the Fed need GPS coordinates for every home, and under what authority do they have the right? Census workers, whom I asked, had the same holy-crap look on their faces that I had by then," he wrote.

Then he cited the cooperative effort that the U.S. Census Bureau has reached with ACORN, the organization of community activists with which Obama worked.

"Obama's interest in an ACORN-controlled 2010 Census, for the purpose of redistricting to the advantage of Democrats before the 2010 mid-term elections, comes as NO shock from a regime known for their heavy handed Rules for Radicals political strategies. But what does this have to do with GPS marking every home in the country?" he questioned.

Online sources noted that Google Maps already probably has listed most homes in the nation.

"What authority does the U.S. Census Bureau have for sending anyone to my front door in April of 2009 to mark it with GPS coordinates? This is unacceptable. The census is not due until 2010, and the usurpation of the census by the White House is unconstitutional. … This citizen will not answer census questions until the year they are due, and demands that my GPS coordinates be removed from all government records."

This doesn't pass my BS test and I know some here who'll just lap it up as A-ok, but when does the over abundance of these type of infringements, begin to cause a flicker of doubt? Or does it ever for the true sociliast and their beloved leader?

Damn, there's that pesky ACORN again. Hmmmm, they always seem to be right in the middle of everything.

CB

Just the crazy uncle in the attic, wondering how many of these types of stories have to surface before the MSM does their job and start investigating, instead of sucking up to the ^%@#(.

Google it, it's out there and it's public record, but they are trying to keep it covert.

Gotta run, gonna take adantage of my 2nd Constituitional amendement while it's still viable and affordable.
