Malyla's Account Talk

Malyla - often I have to read so fast that I just link everything together. You do have a wonderful home and I totally understand wanting harmony - and not wanting anything to do with strife.

Steady,

I do enjoy your post and Luv2read is correct (thank you Luv2read), that comment about wanting a harmonious place to air ideas, comments, opinions, without personal attacks was in no way directed towards you. It was a general comment for reference only (like putting up a no smoking sign). I know from your posts (which I read every day) that you are a kind and generous soul. Please feel welcome anytime.

And thank you for your comments. I am still thinking about a few ideas you put forth and a very much appreciated your responses. I understand about being overwhelmed and taking a comment the wrong way. The stress level is high at this time. In all truth, I haven't felt this particular kind of stress since 2001 and sincerely hope that this year will not end the same way that year did.

Thank you for your encouragement and compliments. I hope all went well at your job. It sounds stressful.

A side note: I do believe that posting is bringing the art of letter writing back into vogue, however, most letter writers have an idea of who is their audience (a face at the least, a relationship mostly). Posting on the message board and talking to people you have never met and are likely to never meet is very interesting. For all I know, Birchtree could be my boss (except he says he's retired). Or maybe your spouse/partner is someone you just call crazy and then have to deal with that headache once you find out who each others avatar belongs to. That is one (small) reason I try to keep it civil:D The bigger reason is I can't deal with too much negativity. I haven't watch CNN or FOX for many years as a way to keep the negativity at a manageable level.:D
....That kind of behavior is not civilized and only leads to more conflict.

I hope you are right about this bear market, ...
I'm an idiot. I didn't delineate a general comment from a direct response to your statement. The confusion was my fault, not yours Steady. I was really tired (just read a long research paper) when I responded to your generous post. I guess that makes me human:laugh: Apologies for this mistake that caused some bad feelings. I am mostly a lover and rarely one to spread ill feelings.

Have a good night.

If I knew who you were - and this essentially means everyone on the MB - I would not be able to post as transparently and as easily as I do. I'm sure you and I (and many others) are all longing for the same environment and that is wonderful. That is what impressed me so much when I finally arrived.

It is only through this MB - I realized what others called "my ability to read souls." And there is another who can sense "the gems". But all of us have that knack of feeling and appreciating kindred spirits and yours was very easy to detect.

Thank you for opening your home - and all the more for being such an active and enriching source knowledge, inspiration, strength, and encouragement.

Not at all ! You are incredibly smart and word yourself in such an authenic and impressive manner.

Oh that's funny - now you are bringing such a big wonderful smile on my face and stretching my heart.

Wow! and I thought your last response was about as perfect as you could get. :cheesy:

I am mostly a lover and rarely one to spread ill feelings.

Trust me - that is very evident - and very cool

Have a good night.
You have a wonderfully great night as well. I was going to watch the new batman movie tonight but am too tired to enjoy it.

Again thanks for being exactly as you are (which is anything but an idiot).

Later

Hi Steady:

As always, you're good vibrations are felt throughout this MB. We all appreciate it, and we al consider you a good firend.

FS

As it was said in an earlier post "GROUP HUG EVERYONE" :D:D
Umm, that would of been me...

So, all together now.....

Hi Steady:

Thanks my man (and all the rest).

I don't want to hijack this sweet lady's thread - but FS, I thought of you and WIND HUNTER driving to work today while listening to Jimi playing "The Wind Cries Mary". Anyway I came up with a beautiful arrangement with either you (or WIND HUNTER) playing acoustic picking - as the foundation (similar to "Dust in the Wind") and in the middle of the song I would kick in with the distortion heavy metal sound - all of it blending together way more to sway the audience in this beautiful melody.

Well - have a great day everyone.

Thanks for everyone who contributed to the the recent party (since #126). It was a stimulating exchange and a reason to remain on this wonderful MB. A toast to Tom was creating the venue and allowing the hosting of many good conversations and the sharing of many different ideas.

I was relaxing (and cleaning up), after hosting this last party, watching stage 16 of the tour. Very dramatic especially when the leading rider did a header over the side and plummeted down the side of the mountain (it was his bike that took the plunge, he climbed back up). Wow. Well there are two American teams with contenders in 5 and 6 place (3+ minutes behind the leader). I didn't think I would enjoy this sport again after Landis, but it is exciting this year (who won last year - don't remember).

For the markets - Waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Thanks again (love the 3-sisters reference) and all are welcome.

And I would have to agree with Steady - anonymity is good for stimulating conversation.

Malyla,

I recently subscribed to your thread, it's a good one.

Nice to see another biking fan! I love the Tour, this year & most years. And since Lance retired, I think it has become more interesting (though I doubt a couple of those 2003 stages could be topped). Biking is a great sport - the Tours & Classics (and various races) are the greatest outdoors events IMO, strategy, endurance, teamwork - all set on a dramatic background of mountains and beautiful countryside.

As for last year's winner - it was Alberto Contador from Team Discovery (American Levi Leipheimer placed third). Great year for Discovery, unfortunately Discovery Channel ceased it's sponsorship and the team disbanded. Last year Team Astana was gutted after a doping scandal by Vinokourov and several people, including Contador & Leipheimer, joined the newly revamped team. Contador won the Giro d'Italia but because of last year's scandal, Astana was not invited to this year's Tour de France. That's why you don't see Levi & Alberto (as well as American Chris Horner) this year, a real bummer. Many of the Astana riders are bummed they joined that team, they did so not knowing they'd be banned from Le Tour. Anyhow, they'll be at the Vuelta a Espana - with Contador being the early favorite since he's mad about Le Tour and he's Spanish. If he does win, he'll be the first person to win all three Grand Tours in less than 2 years.

OK, I'm a bit geeky about this stuff, but it is a beautiful sport.:toung:

Thanks Love-to-Bike. I have always enjoyed biking and have watched the tour since 2003. It's exciting. Even the cheating scandals are exciting, however, watching a persons career go down in flames is not so much fun.

Every time I watch the tour, I have dreams of renting a small RV and riding one of the days route a day or two before watching the riders come through. It looks like a lot of fun and France is beautiful in the summer time. Someday:) Is that too geeky:D

Thanks for the recap and info on why we are missing some Americans in this years race. Looking forward to the next week.

(who won last year - don't remember).
Contador won last year's Tour, I miss him this year. Unfortunately he's on Astana. Vinokurov messed up the team's qualification for the Tour by doping. Unlike Rabobank, Astana was a new entry into the professional team circuit, so only Astana was eliminated as a team, even though a major rider on Rabobank (Rasmussen) was caught doping last year too.:(

The good news is the current Astana members have passed the drug tests for the races they have been in, so I hope to see the Astana riders at the Olympics riding for their countries.

As for the Tour, this year's train is CSC/Saxo, with two contenders for the Yellow Jersey for maximum confusion (who's on first??). Though I still am rooting for Vandevelde (U.S.), his team, Garmin/Chipotle, isn't a train yet since this is their first Tour.

Hi Sweets,
I just need a place to relax and get away from it all.

I had an angel on my car visor - but took it off to hold it and have it in my office. Right now I regard it as my greatest possession.

It says:
BELIEVE
Believe that dreams can come true
Believe in all you say and do
Believe in promises and true love
Believe in angels and God above
Well as usual - I feel at home and am glad I stopped by.

Have a great day.

Sorry I wasn't home when you stopped by:) I hope you left feeling more centered and relaxed.

Thanks for the poem. It's always nice to step outside your everyday worries and think on and absorb the beauty of a simple poem.

Enjoy life

Gauge of future US economy near a 5-year low: ECRI
Fri Jul 25, 2008 10:42am EDT
NEW YORK (Reuters) - A gauge of future U.S. economic growth fell to its lowest level in nearly five years and its annualized growth rate was also down, indicating that an upturn in the business cycle is not yet in sight, a research group said on Friday.
The Economic Cycle Research Institute, a New York-based independent forecasting group, said its Weekly Leading Index fell to 129.4 in the week to July 18 from 131.1 in the previous period, downwardly revised from 131.2.
The decline in the index --to its lowest since it hit 129.0 in the week to October 24, 2003-- was due to higher interest rates and jobless claims and to weaker housing, Lakshman Achuthan, managing director at ECRI said in an instant message interview.
The index's annualized growth rate slipped to a 10-week low at negative 6.9 percent from minus 6.5 percent, revised down from minus 6.4 percent.
"The way a good leading index works is that its level always turns up months before the end of the recession," Achuthan said. "With the WLI level falling to its lowest reading in nearly five years, it is clear that a business cycle recovery is nowhere in sight."

Sometimes it's even better when I'm here alone - and please know I don't mean that to take from you. I always come with the intention of being with you and enjoying your company.

But today put on the "CATS" CD - and I swayed and spun with my arms outstretched to:

"Memories... all alone in the moon light..."

Anyway it's times like that I am probably most relaxed because I never do that stuff when others are around.

Have a great weekend.

You'd mention something about the Super Heros becoming such incredible smash hits.

The attraction is multifactoral - The main fact is that it's based on one individual willing to step out of the boundries and is largely free from any retraints that box in the rest.

This is what I love the most - because it's like real life. If someone truly has the ability to think for themselve and think without any kind of restraints then the possibilites seem limitless.

Their resources are limited to their imagination - and thus it's all the more impressive when you see Ironman (for instance) comming up with his design and going into action.

Again - it encourages the audience to stretch their imagination and lets everyone go to places never dreamed of.

There is always the opposing force - an evil presence - with incredible power and limitless imagination; showing how weak the general public is and how easy they would be to bring under domination.

This is attractive in the sense that everyone realizes they are the general public - that are weak and lack the imagination and resouces needed to survive "reality".

The Super hero is usually protrayed as being the lesser and more weaker of the powers. The evil presense is much stronger but is more bent on brut force - greed - and inpatiently ready to take everything.

So it seems to show that if you stretch your imagination and draw on your intelligence - you can outsmart powers that seem to go far beyond your own - because you thought ahead and planned it well - making sure you had enough to get the job done.

So Ironman was my favorite movie this year and surpasses most of the movies I've seen over the years. Tonight I'm off to the new Batman movie - with my big bowl of .50 cents popcorn.

I know you're a SuperHero and I would love to see you come to life on the Big Screen ;):D:D
