Steel_Magnolia's Account Talk

I suppose I should start out by saying I want to know more technical details on the inverter and battery bank because I am dreaming about the possible future and I have been involved with many back up power systems over the years. So I am going to get real nosy.

First the inverter, manufacturer and model please. Any other technogeek questions I have can be answered by that info.

Second, the battery bank. Manufacturer and model number of the cells, number of cells in the bank please. So called maintenance free batteries or VRLA may actually require some care and feeding. Flooded cell definitely require TLC. Both require a ventilation to the outside. I am sure the technicians told you all this.

Not trying to dis your system or alarm you in any way. Just advising that "maintenance free" battery banks are not maintenance free.

PessOptimist,

Inverter is an Outback. There are 24 batteries in the bank. They're the same type that are used in telephone microwave sites. That's all that dear husband can remember about them. Sorry I can't answer your questions in more detail, but we're not at the ranch at the moment.

And I wish we were, for many reasons. We've been talking about making trips back often during the winter. We've both fallen in love with the place!

Imagine Dragons

Some of you may remember me posting about a little band my daughter started helping out about three years ago. I posted a couple of their early videos here in the lounge. She still works for them and I thought you might enjoy seeing one of their latest videos. They seem to be doing okay for themselves.

They are a great band, SM. Your daughter is lucky to be working with them. Too bad she can't go on the road with them, a once in a lifetime opportunity. They just performed at the Grammy's Sunday night w/ Kendrick Lamar and killed it. Best act of the night..IMHO.

Yes, KK, they did kill it! Pretty impressive for a band that has been in existence for four years, huh! I guess it helped that they share some of the same admin people with The Killers!

Hi gang, I'm back after a six year hiatus to see if there are any old friends still around. And to see if there are friends I haven't met yet. 😉

Thanks for the warm welcome back, TSPTalk, nasa, and Norm! I *really* appreciate it! 😊

Doctor appt this morning so I'll give the Cliff Notes version now and maybe circle back later.

Cashed in TSP to buy dream ranch (Careful if you do that! Thought I understood all tax implications but lost even more than I thought.) Lived the dream @7,800 ft for almost five years. Spinal cord injury=bad lungs=sold ranch. Money back in stocks/ETF's.

That's it. And here I am, dusting off my old digs here.

Oh, and my daughter is no longer working for Imagine Dragons. When they got so big that the job became full time and then some, she decided she better be a mommy instead.

I'm showing my age that I don't know any Imagine Dragon songs, but I just saw some os their videos have over a billion views. I just asked my wife and she does know them so that's big. :)

Sorry to hear about your health.

Wow, Norm! So happy for you and the Missus!

We're working on 49. Since we're ten months into self-quarantine, it's good to have a Spouse who is also a best friend.
