I suppose I should start out by saying I want to know more technical details on the inverter and battery bank because I am dreaming about the possible future and I have been involved with many back up power systems over the years. So I am going to get real nosy.
First the inverter, manufacturer and model please. Any other technogeek questions I have can be answered by that info.
Second, the battery bank. Manufacturer and model number of the cells, number of cells in the bank please. So called maintenance free batteries or VRLA may actually require some care and feeding. Flooded cell definitely require TLC. Both require a ventilation to the outside. I am sure the technicians told you all this.
Not trying to dis your system or alarm you in any way. Just advising that "maintenance free" battery banks are not maintenance free.

PessOptimist,
Inverter is an Outback. There are 24 batteries in the bank. They're the same type that are used in telephone microwave sites. That's all that dear husband can remember about them. Sorry I can't answer your questions in more detail, but we're not at the ranch at the moment.
And I wish we were, for many reasons. We've been talking about making trips back often during the winter. We've both fallen in love with the place!
