Playing the I fund

Thanks Sugar for reporting. Somehow I notice that you are always about 20 - 25 minutes ahead of what I can get from the TSP site. (I guess my ISP provider uses some sort of web cache).

Ocean

I've noticed too. Thanx S&S.:D

Found a place to get online... wish I had been in today! Think I will buy for Thursday...

Good for all you who were in today!

Back to training....

The dollar is trading about 0.40% lower so the I could close around 19.72 and if they give the FV back we should be around $19.83, but I have been off before.

Gill,
It came out 19.82. That was a dang good call! Your crystal ball is a keeper!....;)

While I don't want to seem dissatisfied with today's gain, I am a little frustrated that I just left the S because of weeks of underperformance and it jumps almost 2% to the I's 1%.

Wheels, we feel your pain and frustration, but if the I fund comes out swinging tomorrow, we'd all be singing a different tune. :) By the way, the Technician made out like a bandit today, his one day move to the S fund surprised the heck out of me. Especially, when all we saw last week from his crystal ball was doom and gloom. :D

Thats Tech that uses the crystal ball, I just use a calculator. Now if I could only predict the I fund price 2 days ahead, then my account could make some money and get out of the hole.

Hey, I'll take it if I can find it.....I believe I mentioned that it was a momentary loss of good sense when I got in...

I haven't given up the doom and glooom in the near future.....bbut its gonna be harder to d and g it with economic numbers changing like they have in the last week (it probably will change back in a week or so as the way things go.....), I'll admit to that....

.643 in local. Gilligan, you are getting awfully good at those estimates. Greggy would be embarrased if he were still here.

I don't think Greg or his Aunt got this close, of course I have to give credit to FundSurfer for helping me untangle the currency rate.

Wow, I just noticed that I got two green squares. Thanks guys. Whats an aura?

Man I am way too late tonight but before I retire I thought I'd point out to any other zombies that the Nikkei second session opened up with another pop.

Goodnight,
Dave

Nikkei 225 16,071.36 3:00AM ET 255.17 (+1.61%)

However, FSTE is actually down this morning. And CAC and DAX are only very slightly up.

I think this is an up day for the "I", but not as much as yesterday.

Might be a good day to back off and hold the gains.

Let's see how the rest of the morning pans out.

Ditto! CPI will set the mood for the market this morning. Everyone is on the edge of their seats waiting to see. I know I am.

Murphy's Law will dictate the numbers come in high because I am in the I fund and the Euro Zone markets and US will tank. lol

But the Yen is gaining on the dollar-

Could be bad news for the "I" today.

:DThis may also be a good day to jump back in the I fund (for tomorrow), as there may be some profit taking today due tot he run-up over the past couple. Think I will take the plunge...

This is where strategery :D must be employed, not buying I because I don't want to miss a rocket ride, but because there may be a dip with short term upside past the dip.

This is being way too clever, and will likely buy me an expensive ticket to the "House of Pain" if I do it.

Have a great day folks.

With the core CPI coming in at .2% (market expected .3%), I am going to take a risk. I am going 100% I-fund today. Another favorable point is that the Dollar is dropping against the YEN and the EURO. For the moment, inflation expectations are tame! If other convincing convincing arguments arise, I am ready to change my mind at any time before 12:00 Noon, EST. Please post any other opinions to the contrary. Good Luck!http://biz.yahoo.com/c/e.html

FTSE is trying to claw it way back into positive territory.:D Perhaps the mood is set. Question now is will there be profit taking after the Noon deadline?

I hope I am on the right track, but frankly, I must defer to you and others here to take advantage of your experience for the best course of action. Any other opinions are welcome. I may be wrong, but if my reasoning is correct, the most feared factor to date was the question of whether the FED would be raising rates next month? With the slow down in the U.S. economy, and inflation under control (at least showing signs of abatement), it would be very risky for the FED to keep raisiing rates blindly just to attempt to defend the Dollar. Why? because the FED might be at the edge of risking the U.S. into recession. That would really cap it all!
