Someday I might figure out the I-fund, but not today. The top 4 country holdings in the I-fund are up today, and the dollar is only up slightly, yet the EFA is down quite a bit. :dunno:

Anyone have a theory?

Doesn't most of the EFA move happen overnight with all the gaps? I remember talking about this years ago when guys would try to game the next day's I Fund price based on actual markets vs EFA. I can't remember how it worked.

Yes, that is why there are plenty of gaps on that chart, so with what we saw in Japan an Europe overnight and into the morning, I would have expected a gap up today in EFA - unless the dollar was up a lot. But the fact that EFA trades all day during US market hours, it is generally also pricing in the US action and day time news.

The TSP seems to use both (EFA and US afternoon action) to come up with a price. If it's off, they adjust the following business day.

I've been there and I've guessed that t I've made the best returns and the worst returns and 'I' fund has it's own set of rules, that no one knows? Roll-the-Dice, PRAY-HARD-AND-MAYBE, It will work?

Yeah. It was tough to figure out since the price was always being adjusted the following day and people were trying to play that move -- go into the I-fund on a day US stocks were up, hoping the I-fund would catch the gains the following day.

Today it's the opposite. Europe is down, but so is the dollar, so EFA is up?
