Malyla's Account Talk

Hey everyone,

I think it time to introduce myself and started running with runningfool, surfing with fundsurfer, trying to figure out when it's sugar and when it's spice, monkeying around with the monkeys in the monkey bar, flowing with ebbnflow, racing in 350z's muscle car, and rising with 12%.

Hi. I look forward to learning a lot from all of you and hopefully contributing to Tom's great idea.

Thanks 350zCommTech.

It's pronounced ma-li-la.

Anyone know how to insert the 's in Malyla's account talk? Need to slow down some:cheesy:

Thanks EWguy.

Looking forward to making some money by avoiding the big dips.

Spaf - I can't wait to retire. I love my job, but I have a list of things I want to do when I have more time. Glad it hear it's a fun time:D Enjoy

Thanks. I love this site and have been peeking in since Feb. My whole focus is to avoid being in the market when another recession hits. 2000-2002 killed my retirement fund. I was too ignorant to get out while everyone was saying that it was best to stay in as the long term investment will pay off. I have done the calculations (thanks Tom) and I didn't just lose ~50K over three years (I even posted a loss for the year 2002 even including the addition of my contributions - that hurt), I lost the potential return of 66% (since June 2003) on that ~50K.

This is all about retiring with enough to enjoy life (travel, food, hobbies, etc..) at a level compariable to what I have now (and if I do better, I will have all of you to thank for the sharing of your knowledge).

Let's avoid the big drops and make some money.

I just wanted to thank Tom for this site and the fund tracking software. It has been quite the eye opener to monitor my tsp fund. I still have no idea how the funds were tracked before the share prices (10) took affect in June 2003.

Any links out there about that subject?

Malyla Welcome to the Board, best of luck with your investments, you're going to need the money when you retire. I'm struggling every day, I can almost taste retirement, 33 1/2 years and counting. Yes I'm around 32!:D

Hey Malyla,

Just don't get between Griffin and Birchtree, and you'll be okay (or between MilkMan and anybody)!

And remember to post your moves before noon EST, or Ewe will spank you!

This is a really neat board, I can't say I've learned a lot here 'cause I don't understand any of it, but it's helped me make a lot of money, somehow, by focusing on my account.

Good Luck
GA

Hey Malyla,

Thanks GeorgiaGal. Thanks everyone for the welcome.

I have 13 years to go before the official retirement date which should be enough time to get a little more ahead if I can avoid the big dips.

Yea, I've encountered some of the, well shall we say, more blunt, less tactful exchanges on the threads. As long as there is a genuine level of good will and (I hope) humor, I'll stick around. For the other times, I'll fly above it all :D

At times I will need to leave for awhile to save the world from some evil menace, but I'll be back to grab a drink in the monkey bar (when invited) and laugh or cry with everyone as we try to avoid the dips.:)

Good luck.

Hey GeorgiaGal - I spent the best 2 years ever in Atlanta. Life was very good:D

When you figure out the best way to miss the big dips, please let me know! Since the last week in Dec I've been run over 3 outta 4 dips! Ouch, don't try that at home kids. :worried: Like you I can retire in 10 and I'm mandatory in 13 so I have some time to try and undo my mistakes. There are some real brainiacs on this board and if I can just get myself to follow their moves and not try to blaze my own trail I might actually do ok!
Welcome aboard and good luck!

I just love people that think they are holier than thou. What's wrong GG, you need another man to follow? You can follow me baby...........just don't get too close. Fat people really turn me off.............:D

It never ceases to amaze me why some people find the need to ruin the fun and enjoyment of others by being mean. Where is the humor in this?

Went 40% S, 60% I today. Might as well jump into the deep end first thing. I'll be swimming to swallower water tomorrow or Friday.

I have just become lactose intolerant.
