Rod's Account Talk

The DOW is now at a 7 year low, albeit on low volume. The S&P 500 has yet to breach its Nov 08 low... only 37 points left to drop. I just may forego waiting on the additional 37 point drop in the S&P 500 in order to get on board for the inevitable bounce which I believe is now within reach.

:cool:Rod

Rod...I agree with your stance of a bounce likely near the lows. The question will be how long to stay in IF there is a bounce. Be quick or be dead. Any positive return is not to be taken for granted.

If we are down moderately Friday (20 pts or so) I will likely buy 50% C.

Well, I finally made my move by the TSPTalk/TSP Gov deadline around 10:30 this morning. I'm posting this now because I am at home- I am not authorized to access the message board at work. I went:

30 (C)

70 (I)

I chose (C) because I felt the S&P would close at or near 740.

I chose (I) because the MSCI EAFE was already at/below its 52 week low.

It feels good to finally be in the market after a 13 month hiatus.

Time will tell how long I remain in. It's now time to begin trading my Scottrade account... for the first time!:)

Yeah, I won't be in for too long. Then once I exit, I will ultrashort the MSCI EAFE with Scottrade.

WHOA! Looks like Scottrade "crashed" right at the market close... server problems.

I'm sure glad I got my trades in!:D

Recapping my 20 Feb buys:

30(C) @ 8.94

70(I) @ 11.66

Scottrade MSCI EAFE @ 35.64

I expect (C) fund price to decline a bit further to test the 20 Nov close of 8.66 (in hopes of holding) with levels of resistance at 10.32, 10.48, 10.52. Then I will anticipate a breakthrough at 10.80.

I expect (I) fund price to decline a bit further to test the 20 Nov close of 11.48 (in hopes of holding) with levels of resistance at 13.24, 13.28, 14.49. Then I will anticipate a breakthrough at 14.56.

For my Scottrade buy: I expect the MSCI EAFE to decline a bit further to test the 20 Nov close of 35.53 (in hopes of holding) with levels of resistance at 41.75, 42.09, 42.80. Then I will anticipate a breakthrough at 45.62.

Nice quote in your signature. I love Death Magnetic. Best work Metallica has done in years. Every song hits hard!

Yeah it's ok but the did a horrible job mixing that album. In some songs, the open high hat + whatever distortion they are using, and to some extent the snare, meld together into a sonic mess. They should remaster it.

I've been listening to a lot of Dragonforce lately. I'm a drummer so I really did it and think it's technically awesome! They sound out of the 80s...but are brand new...

I just ordered some Tama Iron Cobra bass drum pedals...we'll see if that allows me to do 32nd notes on the bass drum!

I don't know anything about "mixing" or any musical concepts like that. I just like hard hitting music. Anything from the 60's thru today. If the music type ends with the word "metal", it's for me. I also like quite a bit of the "alternative" genre also.

Yeah, I did Dragonforce. I play rhythm guitar (25 years and counting), but not that fast! My speed limit is Master Of Puppets!:D

I chose (C) because I felt the S&P would close at or near 740.

So, I was a day early on my move. Doesn't it always seem to work out that way? I simply want to ensure I am in for that inevitable short-term 10-20% bounce. Just so as long I do not lose 10-20% along the way...:D

best of luck to ya Rod. hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for all of us

Thanx man. Luck has A LOT to do with it too!

It will interesting to see what Mr. Market will do if/when the Nov intraday low is breached on the S&P 500.

Tomorrow will be telling.

Mr. Market has met my expectations... although it was a day late.

Or, was I a day early???;)

Nevertheless, it was the pop I was expecting.

Now we must ask, has an uptrend developed??? Although I want to answer with a YES, I just don't know because this isn't the high-volume day I would like to see.

All of us would like to say YES

Maybe - just maybe - if sustained the volume will kick in :D

BTW - I like your location - it's the first time I've ever met anyone on Jupiter's 3rd moon - in fact it's my first time here....

Well, welcome then! It's a rather nonchalant place to hang out. I've had to knock the cobwebs out of the corners and grease the hinges, which picked up quite a bit of rust while sit'n on the lilly pad for 13 months.:)

I spoke too soon on volume.

S&P 500 traded 6,037,416,400.

That's the highest traded on a positive day YTD, to the best of my knowledge.

Good sign???

Shrug'n off today's action.

Looks like Japan is hanging in there and not following our lead... as of now.

$ is weakening a tad.

US futures are up.

Looking good so far for tomorrow.
