Do they quit trading for a period of time in the middle of the day in Japan? I noticed that the Yahoo intraday charts on the Nikkei have a flat line period, before it starts jumping around again.

Yes. They have a morning and afternoon session. Shut down for one and a half hour.

You're going to see the FTSE range up and down until our markets open. The ranging is due in part to the earning being reported prior to our market opening. Looks like some of the DOW components may run it across the 12,000 mark again and hopefully it will close on that side of the mark today.

agreed...FV comes in ~ .5% increments, and on rare occasions, doubled that to a FV at +/- 1%.

MSCI EAFE = +.512% or +.11 cents
The dollar has moved up since then, so we might get a positive FV if the market doesn't tank the rest of the afternoon.

My bet would be on +.13 which would be an FV of around .03
Just bought an additional 20% I fund at cob today. I was hoping for a drop.
Oh well.
The Nikkei 300 is down .32% and the I fund is still up.
Do oil prices help the I fund significantly (one way or the other)? (pardon if this has already been discussed elsewhere...)

Good question, I think it’s a doubled edged sword. Some of the larger holdings in the I fund are oil companies, see Show-me above highlighted in red. So an increase in oil prices would benefit them. The other side is the negative cost to the others in the fund.
Overall I think it is negative, look what higher oil prices did to our markets this summer, and our markets have some big oil names. I saw a report where they plotted oil prices against the S&P and there was a negative correlation between the two. It was rather stunning!

Hey, did I get the FV prediction today....can't wait to see....
Oil prices are traded in dollars....movements in diverse directions between foreign markets and the dollar value would have the maximum effect in one direction....how much oil really plays a part in it would be up to someone to figger out....if oil takes less dollars, the dollar is highly valued, if it takes more dollars, the dollar is not highly valued.....something in which we just went through over the last couple of years.....now its trying to find an equilibrium ......
maybe to keep it simple you should just stay with the premise if the dollar index is up or down and whether or not it helps the I fund....
