I think Doug Kass called the botom last Friday with the Dow on an intraday basis at 6469.95 and the SPX at 666.79 and the Wilshire 5000 at 6772.29 and you can tell the grand children you were there. Stocks have lost $11 trillion in market value since the October 2007 peak, based on the Dow Jones Wilshire 5000 index. Losses since the start of 2009 are $2.6 trillion. Nearly half of all stocks in the index are now trading at less than $5 and 37% are under $3.

In a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations, a Washington think-tank, Mr Bernanke gave the most upbeat assessment yet of the global economic meltdown, saying that the gloom could be nearing a close.Uh huh.
"I think there is a good chance the recession will end later this year and 2010 will be a period of growth," he said.

C, S, and I funds have technically hit a buy signal with the 5 day MA crossing the 20 day MA. I don't trust this signal as it appears to be a bear market rally. There is the potential for more gains but I believe the market to be very risky right now. I am mostly in the safety of G for the rest of the month.

Saw 'Marley and Me' at home yesterday by myself.
It's the real life story of me. It's based on a couple who started with what they could afford and they had kids. The wife wanted to stay home and he made it happen by making himself known and getting recognition and avancing from one job to another - one house to another - one location to another - until he finally arrived at the ultimate destination.
Marley - a dog - was pretty much the center of the story. He was very different from Ella and Stella in that 'He' was wired like a man. He also was the Alpha One largely thoughout his life. So if we had let Stella and Ella be the Alpha One - there is no doubt she would have displayed the exact same behavior. But it's way more focused on their insights and abilities - the beauty of their disposition and spirit - so I cried and cried in the end.
Everyday - I lay down on the carpet next to Ella and start with her neck and face then move on down her back, sides, and stomach. Always talk to her soothingly throughout - communicating verbally, physically, and spiritually that she's the most beautiful girl that's ever been born. By the time I'm done all she can do is lay there and blink her eyes.
Well - needless to say - I thought of you when I saw the movie. Hope Stella and you are doing well.

Stella thinks she is a people and she likes all that attention. She is a great companion.

Y'Know; My dog Audrey knows she is a dog, but she and we also consider her a person. A very special one with priveliges, (ie, a spoiled brat, but a well mannered one). We couldn't be happier with that arrangement.

Thank you - it's great to hear from you too. I've got a doctor's appt in an hour and it takes that long to drive there so I only have a minute. I'm really glad you saw the movie.
Ella thinks she's a person too - especially when I laying beside her giving her the super duper treatment.
BUT - Usually everytime we go on a walk I highly reinforce her 'dog characteristics' by letting her follow scents...and be my protector and run loose and just do dog stuff'

I know it was YOU that all the more brought me to tears when I reflected on a previous pet you had to put down. I haven't had that experience - PTL - but I'm giving her the best life imaginable.
Audrey is likely well mannered because she is so spoiled. She knows the attention lavished upon her and that's wonderful. I'm thrilled for you my friend and Audrey sounds perfect for you and your family.

Just because the Treasury is printing money and lending it to the Federal Reserve who in turn buys U.S. Treasuries so that that yields stay down and the Government has money to operate on. What's not to love about that?:nuts:

I guess the market maker will send you a 1099 tataltailer which will contain your basis for each purchase. More big brother. I guess they will even report option purchases and sales instead of just equities now?Similar threads
