Epic's Account Talk

Treasuries up quite a bit from Sept. which led to the much lower G-Fund rate for Oct.
If the Oct. rates can hold on another few days till end of month, I would possibly predict G-Fund rate to go back up to above 4%, to possibly 4.3%.
It's just a crazy guess. We'll see if I'm right or wrong. ☮️ UST.PNG

Oh well, I give up. I couldn't have been more wrong. G-Fund didn't move not one bit even though (on average) Treasuries seem to be UP to the "end of June" levels where we got a 4.5% return for July. I don't understand it at all. I wish I knew all the 191 data points/Treasuries that they look at in order to calculate the current rate, but I've never been able to get my hands on that list. Most that I've seen have climbed significantly from the Sept 30th low's to the end of Oct, but it didn't seem to make any difference at all. It makes no sense. Disappointing (and embarrassing) to say the least. I'll keep my mouth shut from now on. No more predictions from me since I obviously don't have a clue. 😞🙄🤐

Let's just hope they're paying what they're supposed to. Can you imagine, based on how much money is in the G-fund, what 0.1% is worth to the TSP?

I am showing different data than you. I've got the G Fund at 4.375%

OMG, your right !!!!! They changed it. It clearly showed 3.875%, and NOW it shows 4.375%.
That's CrAzY, but I'm glad they made the correction. I don't feel like such an idiot now. I predicted 4.3%, and it did better than that. YAY!!!!!!(y)
Here's BEFORE and AFTER the change (screenshot)

I've had that happen before, only in the other direction.

There can be ZERO excuse for such a "mistake/error"... TSP-board/employee heads should be drawn up in courtroom sketches and banging against prison bars (or worse -- rolling?) for such as this. Incompetence beyond the pall.

So I totally missed the election pump, and the sizable gaps that were created because of it is the reason I've not committed to entering quite yet. It would just be my luck to put some into C & S, only to have the market do a quick reversal and head back down to fill those gaps. 😬 UUGGHH... Besides, with G at 4.375%, it's still gonna be a decent month without taking the risk.
Looking ahead, there's going to be 4 years worth of great opportunity to make well calculated decisions to enter and exit this market, but for right now those gaps are still too concerning to me. Let those get filled and I will reconsider jumping in to some degree.
Be careful (y)

I noticed Warren loading up on Cash.

Of course Warren missed the dot com bubble rally that lasted several years - but he missed the bursting as well.

He never owned tech stocks until he finally bought Apple years later.

Dam, look at the VIX.
Another gloomy start for the day. Think I'll go get some things done around the house today instead of watching this.
Good luck everybody ! ! ! ! ☮️

I don't follow the VIX that much, but that's a pretty big gap, don't cha think?? Certainly not nearly as high as it appears to be for August on that lower chart. 😵
