burrocrat's Account Talk

today is a bit bittersweet for me. on one hand i've given 10 good years of full commitment, integrity, and honest effort to fulfil my gov mission, and i've never in my life been let go from any of the various positions i've labored at. but today i got laid off. with only a .pdf packet and some chain emails as a consolation prize. they said they appreciate me though, sure have a funny way of showing it.
.....the good news is if they don't call me back by monday i will soon be privately employed..
BC - :worried: I am so sorry to hear you have been laid off --- but do I detect a voice of expectation of a different employer in the near future? ...to not be called back? I hope it goes well for you....

ha ha! i can't stop laughing. i've explained to my kid a couple times what is happening with dad's job and what we're going to do, trying to let him know i have a plan and it will be ok, don't worry. we're sitting there watching the news tonight and he grabs the remote and flicks the channel 'alright that's it, i'm not watching that fat b*tch talk for money'. smart kid. i wonder where he gets it from.

uh oh, it looks like lloyd blankfien got his shorts on after the meeting at the white house yesterday. i give it 36 hours max before the politicks crumble and kick down the cash. nothing works better than the paymaster reminding you just what your job is.

The stock market ended lower as Wall Street CEOs, Europe’s central banker and traders pressed for a solution. Chief executives from the nation’s biggest financial firms met Obama for more than an hour Wednesday, some of them plainly frustrated with the tactics at play in Congress and with the potential showdown coming over the debt limit.“You can re-litigate these policy issues in a political forum, but we shouldn’t use threats of causing the U.S. to fail on its obligations to repay its debt as a cudgel,” Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of Goldman Sachs, said after the meeting.

"Chief executives from the nation’s biggest financial firms met Obama for more than an hour Wednesday..." I didn't like the looks of this when I saw it on the news yesterday evening. I think it was a one way conversation resulting in todays action to pressure the House to cave... dagnabit, had to be after the noon deadline.

We could be placing a very nice kangaroo tail today - it's still early yet. It's all just emotion that is not realistic.

chhhhk, lloyd to program trading desk, you read? take it down 1% and hold.

10-4.

nothing? drop me another half.

roger that.

these fools aren't moving, take the bottom out.

sir?

screw it, wheeeeee!

so there goes the shot across the bow. do they begin talks or do we fade into the close?

tomorrow's open is the tell. better be quick. see you at work monday.

for the record... if we get a >1% get down and stay down before noon et tomorrow i'm going all in.

them boys in wdc better fix this quick. my career, my car payment, my beer money, even my sense of worth and self-esteem is riding on things being back to normal on monday, may as well toss my retirement into the mix too. if this goes on much longer i'll never be able to wash the bad taste of either party out of my mouth anyways. let 'et rip.

on the other hand, i suppose i should be thankful i live in such exciting times. an event like this only happens once every 17 years or so. only market farts and old timers, err market timers and old farts are going to come out smelling good on this one. i'm a buyer here.

well futures are not looking so good for my strategery. and i had a disturbing dream last night.

for those furloughed and paid bi-weekly the last full paycheck hit the bank 09/30. that was also the last day they were on the clock for working (the 4 hour required attendance shutdown routine on 10/01 was recorded as lwop, as were the remaining days in the pay period). so the next paycheck they are scheduled to recieve is on 10/14, and will only be for 60% of normal. conveniently, the gov will have to start either prioritizing some payments or pay none at all on 10/17. is it a coincidence that steps have been taken to reduce required outlays just before that date? and to ensure no need to prioritize non-essential salaries after that date as no non-essential paychecks are required on 10/28 if the slugs have not worked for 4 weeks?

it seems measures have been deliberately taken to reduce the outlays before we even were at the broke limit. that indicates this is going to be a long fight that has been prepared for. not just about obamacare, or even the upcoming debt ceiling, this could be for all the marbles right here right now, capitalism and fiscal responsibility vs. socialism and unlimited free borrowed money, all on the line.

as many non-conservatives have pointed out, what is there to gain from this fight? the republicans can only lose, why take that risk? uh oh, that is not good. the last person you ever want to pick a fight with is someone who feels he has nothing left to lose, even big bullies know that and usually back away, you can only push a broken opponent so far before he will wager far more than you ever want to lose. mr. obama 'i will not negotiate' and mr. reid 'my way or the highway' may have bitten off more than they can chew on this one by going for the tea party kill. you can't leave a working man nowhere to go. besides they're they only ones who pay the bills. i'm afraid this is a way bigger fight than any of us wanted, and those kind only create losers of us all.

i'm still going all in with my tsp today, because at this point it no longer matters. if the big nuts realize just what chopping block they've laid their balls on and pull back to some semblance of normal, then i will make out like a bandit. and it not, then neither $50k nor $500k+ in my retirement fund will make the slightest difference when it all gets washed away. it's way past time effort was rewarded instead of sympathy, just lay it down now, you've taken too much already. wheeee!

from 100G to 50C 50S cob today.

c'mon honey, one time. show me a massive down at the close for my buyin, i'm talkin' pictures of traders with their face in their hands all over the news type of drop. let 'er rip.

The level of manipulation is well beyond what most would even imagine... Check out DBA's article, yesterday's drop was right on que, as you pointed out tongue in cheek.

dangit, i bought in on an up day. i hate it when that happens.

this is not looking good. better dig out a new razor and wash my shorts, job hunting comes monday.

take your cat and leave my sweater, 'cause we have nothing left to weather, in fact i'll feel a whole lot better

oh my. despite my good intentions and best effort, it seems i just got divorced again, this time from my job. dammit, i swore i wouldn't let it happen, i even picked a stable horse and everything and rode it kind. now it's all running away. again.

what a shame, i still had so much to give.

uh oh, it looks like i got caught on the wrong side of a bet again. all in on friday, what was i thinking, like there was ever a chance they would fix it over the weekend? i guess i just became a buynholder instead of a markettimer, at least until i make the money back.

this is gonna hurt me more than it hurts you.

I will raise my voice for rcknfrewld to be reinstated - his banishment has lasted long enough. Who will join me.
