I agree with wwwtractor. I think we need an "all of the above" option.
Agree that would have been better, but the deed is done. I did add the ability to post in all catigories, even with that The Democrats have really big margin of the votes. Want to do it again?:laugh:I agree with wwwtractor. I think we need an "all of the above" option.
One major note, I would say that the problem began to accelerate with the lobbyist factions bending the ears of our Congress. JMO
So what is the answer to correct the problem? Finding a candidate that is not motivated by greed or power. That will be difficult at best. You or I could do the job, but we are not popular, pretty, or willing to pander lobbyist. You have to have money to back you up and people of influence. That makes it impossible to not be influenced. Ross Perot was the one guy that had his own money and was not influenced by the money on the left or right.
Even if you get in and walk the straight and narrow, your handlers will turn on you eventually. It is a self protected club in the beltway. Dems and Repubs close ranks on anyone that tries to ruin their "good thing". Two houses of the same family, protecting the family interests.
We the people are becoming more powerless and the tree of liberty desperately needs to be watered.
It was Jefferson, "God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure."
Unfortunately, these are not new problems. Over the years, third parties candidates popped up many times and I believe every time they were not only defeated, but they took enough votes away from the losing candidate usually giving the election to the one they were most opposed to.So what is the answer to correct the problem? When you say ticket, are you meaning if the Republican nominee would add an Independent as his side-kick?... and instead will cause more damage. For conservatives, that means adding an independant to the ticket [ballot] in 2012 will simply hand Obama a 2nd term.
Sorry, I meant ballot. When you say ticket, are you meaning if the Republican nominee would add an Independent as his side-kick?
- or conservatives splitting the vote as mentioned & handing the opposition the win?
