Who's fault is the deepening RECESSION

Recession worse, Who's at FAULT

So what is the answer to correct the problem? Finding a candidate that is not motivated by greed or power. That will be difficult at best. You or I could do the job, but we are not popular, pretty, or willing to pander lobbyist. You have to have money to back you up and people of influence. That makes it impossible to not be influenced. Ross Perot was the one guy that had his own money and was not influenced by the money on the left or right.

Even if you get in and walk the straight and narrow, your handlers will turn on you eventually. It is a self protected club in the beltway. Dems and Repubs close ranks on anyone that tries to ruin their "good thing". Two houses of the same family, protecting the family interests.

We the people are becoming more powerless and the tree of liberty desperately needs to be watered.

One major note, I would say that the problem began to accelerate with the lobbyist factions bending the ears of our Congress. JMO

Yepper Show-me,

By all the comments posted here, most folks do agree, that it took more than just one person to cause this recession, but it was a group effort by a whole gaggle of folks.

The greedy american public and the greedy american Congress worked hand in hand. The public and Congress have over complicated the basics for our republic and have slowly moved us to a Socialist State.

"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." I fear that the end is nearer than we know.

Here is another good quote from Ben. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote."

The man was brilliant.

I agree with wwwtractor. I think we need an "all of the above" option.
Agree that would have been better, but the deed is done. I did add the ability to post in all catigories, even with that The Democrats have really big margin of the votes. Want to do it again?
Might see if Tom will spring for giving all who vote for the Democrats a FREE TSP Travel Mug? That seems to be the best why to get the votes in. I'm Sooooooo Bad!!

+1 on what Tom said, the greedy American public are to blame too, especially those that knowly spent over there means and knew they couldn't possibly pay it back.

Fifty years of bad government with the last two administrations contributing the most. Well Johnson and Carter sure contributed more than their share. Give, Give, Give, Give till it hurts. Just pass the buck.

This is a graph of the US debt and as a percentage of GDP. I won't vote at all, but let people interpret the data as it stands. You decide on your own.

Me.

It was me. I'm sorry. The market crash, the recession, the unemployment? It's all my fault.

I took out a home second mortgage, and added 16 extra zeros on the end of the check, and when I deposited it in the bank, the bank failed the next day. It was a Freddie Mac home loan, taken out and cahsed on a Goldman Sacs check. I deposited the check into Wells Fargo.

Though I was going to be rich.

Woke up the next morning to hear the check had bounced. Wells Fargo then went bankrupt. That triggers Freddie Mac to crash, and then Goldman Sacs had to get their bailout.

All because I just added some zeros on the check I had. I knocked everything down.

I'm sorry-

How about any idiot who'll will be waiting in line at 9 PM on Thanksgiving for Toys R Us to open so they can buy a 'Tickle Me Elmo' doll.

It's called Elmo Live Encore this year. My wife bought one for my Granddaughter a couple of months ago. I didn't ask how much she paid for it.:suspicious:

Only a certain sector of the american consumer is at fault. They are now causing the prime borrowers to default as the credit crisis continues and the unemployment rate increases. There's an ammo shortage in this country for a reason. I see where the USDA is offering 0% down mortages and builders are using them to move houses - will the fools ever learn?

You left out a few choices in your poll. Maybe, "All of the above", "Libertarians", "Aliens", "Muslims", "Me", and some more I can not think of right now. A poll is only as good as the choices given. Surely we can find someone to blame it on!

This is actually the 'best answer' as it has nothing to do with either Dems or Reps.

The BLAME stems partly in the 'Housing Sector' -- in that was the bulk of what took everyone down.

Children why is this?
Because the Government Industries most responsible Fannie and Fredie were destined to FAIL. This was detailed at length and we knew it was inevitable.

So kids how did they handle the problem?
They make it look like -- the BANKS were responsible and let them devise a scheme that will take Trillions and Trillions of dollars.

How else could 'we' maximize the destruction of the Economy?
Shaddow Banking System!!!

How about all of the above + some real estate loan sharks, tranche salesmen and house flippers? Oh, and the credit card companies that used to give their cards away to anyone, +....well I'll think of more to add to the list.

Very true !!

The 'spend like there is no end' lifestyle has long been in place. Debt has largely been both 'encouraged' and 'reinforced'

Frixxxx -- I got interrupted --- Great minds think alike Bro

Banks and foolish people.

Not a choice...I selected none of the above. I keep going back to my civic studies that say our representation is voted by the people....I don't blame the representation, I blame the represented.:suspicious:
