Steadygain's Account Talk

I was hoping for something like that. Now I can go home smiling.:p

Of course we would share, wouldn't be nearly as good if we didn't.

Now for the bad news - my computer at home is screwed up and I can't do anything - especially write the continuation of a story as powerful as that one. I will try to get caught up with everything here and PROMISE you I'll put more efforts into the story next week.

You did you're part - so I'll do mine.

MONDAY was just declared a holiday (apparently Buster's BD) so I won't be back until Tuesday. Thanks Buster (D) have a good one.

TSP Investments

There are 2 General Rules that I go by:

1) Stay in the Markets when they are rising
2) Stay out of the Markets when they are falling

OR YOU COULD SAY:

1) Buy Low
2) Sell High

There are many on the MB that have exceeded what any single Fund or combination of Funds could yeild. That is why I do not buy and hold - and over the years I have beat any "buy and holder" since I started 5 to 6 years prior. So days like today - and missing the 1+% loss several days prior makes it wonderful to have the G Fund. But the Buy and Holders certainly have their advantage - they can not possibly lose if they don't sell. The value of their shares are less but the number of shares is unchanged and constantly growing, and when the Markets go up they NEVER MISS.

I'm not gaining today - but my assets are locked in and I'm staying 100% G

Me too Steady..the real trick is to find that right time to buy in, seeing as we have till noon to make the move before the next day......Same goes for when to get out...What would make this whole 2 IFT BS seem less restricting, would be to allow us to have till 5PM to make an IFT.

Hmm. You bring up a very touchy subject that strikes raw nerves. In other investments when I buy "I buy whatever is sells for at the moment I buy it - and when I sell it sells at the price it's worth at that moment".

I would a thousand times over the TSP Fund work on a percentage charge (or a standard charge) for every IFT - but have it execute at the moment we decide. If that were the case I would have SOLD on Monday with a 1% winning.

That should have been the other piece of the new rule. Price at time of IFT, and/or IFTs from bell to bell.

Just read Tom's Comments - which are excellent.

On Tuesday - will go back in 100% C or mix with S and/or I

The SEASONALITY is what burned my A$$ in 11 - 12/07

But if Today continues in this beautiful sell off (and I'm hoping the worse part will occur closer to the bell) then that would all the more set us up for a very good rally next week.

6/4 - 6/6 should bring a 2 to 4% Gain.

Wish I could join you..I hope for huge gains for anyone able to get in next Tuesday..;)..Maybe (thinking selfishly) there will be another nice pull back right near the beginning of June for me to hop in..

D, there's no reason why you can't back in - it's a new month

I'd be careful next week. I agree that there may be a bounce to sideways action for a while, but don't bet all your cookies that this is a turn around, that is still to be determined.:cool:View attachment 3921

I wish that were true for me. During this hallowed time I remain melancholy and quiet. So many years ago but still only yesterday. One of the things I do like about my Florida nights is the reminder and similarity of many Vietnam nights - quiet, waiting and listening, on edge with all senses in full alert, dug in. Like Spaf was fond of saying - any day above ground is a good day. I will not cry this year but I can never make any promises. There are so many that deserve my thoughts - soon we will all be another lost generation.

I was in a different role my friend, but always went in knowing it was either them or me. I was honored to be be called and always lived up to my calling. With each Mission accomplished I felt more prepared and anticipated an even greater calling. My senses were full alert 24/7 long before I got out - and I did everything possible to get back to the Bible College mindset and lifestyle "as I had promised God - for not letting me accumulate baggage along the way". So I met the purest woman who ever walked the earth and went into the toughest field I could think to endeavor. Had no other choice but to give everything over to developing a solid relationship with her (and God) and study my a$$ off. After about 2 years someone could come near by bed (when I'm sound asleep - without getting attacked). But overtime I have come to realize that when you are a soldier down to your bone marrow; when your senses have been on full alert 24/7 for months (or years) at a time - then you remain a soldier through and through and it's not something that ever goes away. Also have come to realize that no relationship (marriage, family, or whatever) compares to the bonds you have with your fellow soldiers in a combat unit.

I'd have to say - very few - (if any) - leave me feeling so good or cause me to smile as much when I think about them.

Have a super WONDERFUL WEEKEND !!

I hope you moved to safety the same day I did - if not don't worry my sweet it will rise back up.

My Dearest Friend Steady,

You are indeed one of a kind! You are not only smart, loving, considerate, and very well informed about domestic and international issues, but you are also an extraordinary human being! It is not only surprising that you would visit my thread twice this month, but that you would remember all these minor details shared throughout our friendship.

Please do continue to enlighten us with your wisdom and your wit, we look forward to your postings. The MB family that we are keeps growing - now you also have a kid brother - and that is so cool!

Thank you for your concern on my TSP. I was able to move to capital preservation last week after our funds went up some.

Thank you for this posting and not forgetting that I am still here, made me feel very special indeed.:toung: Hope you are relaxing and enjoying your long weekend!

Cornellia,
Millions of seeds have sprung from you and planted their roots in me. So please know that what you may see as minor - are not minor to me at all - in fact it is the total opposite FOR these are the seeds that most show your heart and life. This is the most precious aspect of the MB - the way we really can get connected.

On the international level - I have become very close to many international students who attend the University of Illinois and brought them in my home. In doing so they have become part of my extended family and I have come to realize that the Koreans, Iranians, Germans, Chinese, Liberians, Vietnamese and the rest - ALL are very wonderful - with good hearts and excellent minds and each of them have so much to offer. The bonds I have formed are my greatest riches and each has made me realize all the more how sacred life is and how much each of us has to offer.

From knowing you I have learned a lot about Panama - not so much from things you have shared - but because as I got to know you better I researched the area more. So my INTERNATIONAL INTERESTS largely stem from my bonds with others throughout the world. It is a vested interest - and the more I learn the more I want to know.

...On the Domestic Issues - unfortunately I probably probe deeper than I should and so I become very disheartened. I see more and more the corruption behind every aspect of the political system "that was meant to protect the people and work for them". I will elaborate a little more on that later - because I feel that it has to be acknowledged - but the overall interests of the United States on every level is something that remains central to my core persuit.

...It is neat having a "kid brother" - but it's equally wonderful having Wind Sailing, Fog Sailing, Nuutt, and the many other guitarists on the MB spur me on and bring me to life - let alone you, Lady, Mamikin, Birch, Buster, Comm 350z, 12%, Show me and all the many others who enjoy music bring us together as ONE. But it's getting my heart wrapped up in Kar Crazy's daughter, Sky Pilot's endeavors, GGal's vision, Lady's painful degerative condition and all the aspects of our "human condition" (and now Birch's somber reflections) that really tie us together and help us to learn to melt and become better people - as we stretch our hearts. So my wisdom primarily grows from my willingness to learn from others and allowing them to become more and more absorbed in me. Mostly it stems from the knowledge that God alone has blessed me with every ability I have and in every way I hope to give Him the glory.

Thank you for such a lovely message. You are equally a source of true inspiration - every bit as smart and witty as me - so let your posts rain down as well.

S&P 500- 4 Year Chart

The top is 1,555

A 30% Reduction takes us below 1,100
which is way too low and unrealistic

A 20% Reduction takes us to about 1,250
which looks PERFECT and still a healthy correction

This was posted a while back - but now's a good time to bring it up. Many "in the know" are expecting hard economic times and the FED has essentially run out of ammo.

I now have renewed hope that a "new bottom" will be achieved and plan to stay in G Fund until a better entry point avails itself.
