Report H1N1 here.

H1N1 is everywhere around me. Schools are dropping like flies everywhere and losing money due to high absenteeism. My youngest son got the the H1N1 shot yesterday. I tried to get it and got shut down.

CDC says everything is now solidly on the rise. Flu season is here. This year is that little orange line. Look how far its' up already compared to years' past. What that tells us is that people who THINK they have the flu are visting their doctors this time. Not sure if the total number is really that much higher, or just that those who are sick are going to the doctor.

Glad you are feeling better Buster.

My son had a "cold" a few weeks ago, but after doing the DayQuil thing, he said he wanted to play in his baseball games that weekend. About a week later his friend on his team, and who he shares a locker with at his school, got the "cold". His friend later went to the doctor and was told he had H1N1. Talking to his mom, they believe he got it from my son, which would make sense.

My son never had, or at least never complained of being feverish or sick other than the cold symptoms. Now I don't know if he actually had the flu. I am assuming that you can't get it twice - is that right?

Must affect age groups differrently...I was told by the MD that since my culter came back positive..that I wouldn't have to have to get the Vaccine once it's available...at least this year.

So, this is what the Full blown H1N1 is like I had..

Then yes it is mild compared to most flues...

Glad you're feeling better Buster. I actually caught (what I believe) was this flu back when it first came out. But I was on the road in Texas so I didn't get diagnosed.

The biggest thing I remember was being really tired, and having a strong fever that took days to break. The fever was the biggest thing, it was much stonger than the average fever. Eventually eveyone in my family got it.

Back to work today..But I sure don't have a full tank of gas..Drained as far as any energy..All I can do just to get the T&A straightened out..At least had a nice comforable sleep last night...:)..Can't wait to get home and submerge in the spa for an hour and then go in and go to bed.:o

Very much attacks your strength and stamina, felt faint a lot...I had no appetite, very, very tired, High fever (102 to 103), Chills, Sweats, fitful dreams/sleep, woke up exhausted, body aches, skin hurt to touch, eyes burned and ached all the time. Over all general crappy feeling, no energy to even bend over to pick up trash I missed pitching at the waste basket,. No sore throat, no major cough (but some), No head cold symptoms...I knew when the fever broke, because I felt like eating something again....Main thing through all of this, I drank gallons of ice water...I tried Ice tea one day and puked it up..so just plain old water helped a lot.

Hope no one else gets it...It sure kicked my ass!!!

Apparently the Flu is striking hard here in this part of New Mexico. Enough so that several base emails have been sent out on the subject.

One other thing, I tried like heck to find the flu mist and nobody cares it here. Protocol is to demanding and there is risk involved to the administrator if over exposed to the mist.

I went to the Health Dept. yesterday afternoon to get shots for the 2 and 4 year olds living with us. Wow, many people from all walks of life. Needles must be getting much better neither kid cried. That was great for me.

Sunday Morning>

Feeling a wee bit better. I think my fever is coming down some..I didn't sweat much at all last night..However my mental word processor is struggling to form coherent sentences and I feel weak all over..Still..But not like death as I did yesterday...I lost 12 lbs this week alone..I just ain't hungry..

Brighter side..I haven't had a Cigarette either since last Tuesday...I will keep the effort going there too.

Now the question is..Should I go into work tomorrow or ride it out till I'm nearly 100%?..My co-workers have all called me and said to stay home until I feel 100% better

AND of COURSE, the 1 POINT loss to Miami last night, almost set me into a complete relapse..

DAMN SOONERS!!!

Buster,

I want you to know that I am Glad you are feeling better and that I did not read this thread earlier. I like our Family that we have here. :)

Also Me the Wife and my daughter went to Wal-Mart today to get odds and ends. As soon as we all got our hands off of the Kart we immediately got the Hand sanitizer out and all of us used it. We are making it a point to carry hand sanitizer in every one of our vehicles and use it wherever we think it is necessary. Keep getting better Buddy. ;):)

Good for you. But I don't know if the FDA has approved H1N1 flu for the purpose of smoking cessation treatment. Intersting thought. I'll have to go look that one up.

Don't go. That's what FERS sick leave is for. It's FER when you're sick.

Stay home. And don't forget to file a CA-2 form- occupational illness. You got it from students at work- and you don't want to give it to the next batch of students at work, Buster. Wait until you are 100%, even if it takes all week.

Now that I think of it- even if it takes ALL MONTH. Stay home till you are fully recovered.

Glad to hear it's going better for you buster, when you;re sick it's for real and no fun at all.

That being said, and i mean this in all seriousness, the best advice for staying healthy i got from mom, "a little dirt never hurt".

One time only i got the flu shot, within hours was freezing cold, then sweating hot, head and body aches for two days, totally miserable. I thought, crap i just been had, i even paid for this. Since then i decided i'll just get the flu for free thank you.

Now i make it a point to expose myself to germs a little bit. No need to keep the house spotless, don't always have to wash hands after starting the hamburger helper before mixing the potatoe salad, etc. It's mostly a big scam by the household companies to sell more sanitizer products.

Human bodies are remarkably resiliant, the more my system is comfortable with germs and viruses the less they seem to affect me. This strategy may not work for everyone, but now i save money on clinic visits and cleaning products, have more free time, and those irratating neighbors hardly ever come over anymore, apparently it's no fun keeping up with the jones's when the jones's never keep up.

Sometimes i feel a little under the weather, but hardly ever get really sick. Plus i bet there's no nanoparticles on the toilet seat.

And who said theraflu tastes bad, try two of them with one of those vicodin left over from the last dentist visit, go to bed early. Sleep like a baby, drool on the pillow type rest, next morning it's all good. Except for the weird dreams, but those happen anyway.

As with my investment strategies, follow this advice at your own risk. Let's hope we all get to where we want to be.

There is a very good forum on ticker-forum about H1N1 with a lot of knowledgeable people there, keeping track of symptoms, communicability, and spread among their membership and elsewhere. I've been following it for months now. One thing I learned there that's not being talked about much elsewhere, is credible probability that a person may still be contagious if still coughing, never mind if fever broke.

Person in office next to mine (I have to walk through part of their room to get to the hallway outside) has already had flu H1N1 recently by her own admission, still coughing constantly. Disturbs me deeply every time I hear her cough (I have asthma and susceptible to respiratory things) but she won't stay home-too dedicated. Office policy has not identified cough as criteria for staying away. I shut my door partway in hopes it will help, but can't keep it closed, I'm in supervisory position for another month yet (not her supervisor tho).

Thanks Buddy..

I am usually pretty conscious about washing my hands..But Since I started feeling crappy and tired Tuesday, which included some nasal irritation and some minor body aches and tired hot eyes, just a general Malaise feeling ..I figure I picked it up at WALMART Sunday..I was doing my usual weekly grocery shopping..the only thing that comes to mind, is the handles on the shopping cart..I may have touched my eyes or mouth..who knows..So far it's been 4 days and I just started the fix today..I still ain't feeling much better..

BTW: do you all realize how absolutely terrible Theraflu tastes?..

I am curious how our group is being exposed to H1N1. Give us as much info as possible about symptoms and how you think you got it.

It could help the rest of us avoid the H1N1.

Plus it is a very interesting and dangerous topic that we all need educated on.

Buster is our first victim so far. Get well.
