Didn't I already mentioned to you about not using the EFA? The EFA is NOT the I fund in our TSP. It's an ETF that gets traded during the day along with the USM. Our I fund(MSCI EAFE), ends at 1200 eastern, when Europe closes, period.

Please go back a few months and read through this thread to get an understanding of the I fund.

Yes the I fund will fool ya. I surely cant explain its workings, and won't try. Oh, I never pay attention to EFA, bum dope.:notrust:
 
I am 100% in the I fund since yesterday. Let's assume that Tom's commentary and stats are precise this week, i.e., assume that Wednesday (the day prior to) and Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) are going to be positive. Also, assume that Monday would be a negative day. Question: How would you play the I fund in order to exit with gains, when we don't know if, or when, a FV will be applied? I will appreciate your opinions.
 
No... I don't wish to engage anyone in a pissing match over the EFA & MSCI EAFE. The EFA STO is for buy and sell triggers; IMHO. The fast STO is showing a bounce.

My short term plan is to IFT out of I today into S or some combination of C/S. (Im also thinking about leaving a small portion in I depending on how things play out this morning.) Hopefully that will let me capture some of the holiday goodness. On Monday or so, I will be looking for a good entry point back into I.

IMO the Slow STO line doesn't have to perform this operation today. It seems to me that we should be OK; provided that it doesn't fall further. However, I believe that this will depend on whether the USM, Asia, and EZ remain on a positive track. As you know, these indicators will react positively or negatively depending on the behavior of the Indexes or stocks that they represent. Let's hope that the USM rally, because I believe that the OSM will follow the US either up or down.

I will consider following your strategy very seriously. If we are going to rally as per Thanksgiving Day, the C and S would be a more predictable allocation because one can avoid the uncertainty of whether a FV will be applied or not. These days the S fund has been a great performer! Do you think it will remain this way?

Are we possibly looking at a +FV scenario if the market rallies and the USD drops. The USD index dropped to -0.21%.
 
... I think there's a possibility, 5 cents perhaps. How often is a 5 cent FV applied by Barclays? And does the current scenario warrant it?
