Playing the I fund

... won't know if Barclays muddles with the EAFE closing %age until the I-fund posts at 8pm'ish... although S&S had a way of finding out before hand?

... I think there's a possibility, 5 cents perhaps. How often is a 5 cent FV applied by Barclays? And does the current scenario warrant it?

If we see a price different than 21.05 tonight, we'll know there was an FV. There have been plenty of times the FV was more than 5 cents. If there is an FV, we're probably looking at an I Fund price of 21.11 for tonight.

Its looking GREEN overseas

N300 +1.11%
AORD +1.56%
Hang Seng +1.23%
Sing All +0.95%
NZ All +0.04%

And the dollar is down -.45%

Why is the FTSE down? The whole world is up! These damn brits need to get the grubby faces out of their fish and chips and smell the latte!

Cut and Paste.

Minutes from the November meeting of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee, due at 0930 GMT, are expected to show that eight policymakers backed the rate hike to 5 percent while one voted for no change.

LONDON, Nov 20 (Reuters) - The following FTSE 100 companies will go ex-dividend on Wednesday, after which investors will no longer qualify for the latest dividend payout.
According to Reuters' calculations at current market prices, the effect would be to take 10.1 points off the index.

The ex-dividends reduction is about half of the FTSE's loses so far. The BOE minutes are driving the Pound up and causing some fear.

With TSP offices closed tomorrow, is it possible to be in the I fund for Thursday and the S fund on Friday?

No. You can IFT to the I fund today but no IFT to the S for Friday. What you are in at the close today is what you will be in at the open for Friday.

I hope I said that right.:D

Too bad. It would be a simple thing to allow us to send a series of IFTs and just put them in their computer. Given the public statements made by that party-pooping high priest of buy-and-hold running the program, I don't supposed they're inclined to help people trade.

I would speculate that us frequent trader are shaving off some of their profits. They would prefer us to buy and hold...........less administration needed. They are just looking out for our best interests.

Do you think that with the %centage weight the FTSE has in the EAFE, do you think this estimated 10.1 point shaving will be a significant factor that would persuade those holding the I fund to exit today into the C and/or S funds? Considering the additional limitation of not being able to do an IFT tomorrow?

How's it going to work tomorrow/Thanksgiving, with the US markets/TSP closed, but overseas markets open? Will any gains/declines in the I fund Thursday be added/subtracted on Friday?

Consider that there is a big possibility that there could be a +FV today due to the enormous drop in thr dollar versus the Yen and the Euro. I don't know for sure. Anyone else got ideas?
