System Update:

My indicator system is going back to CASH today with a healthy 1 day profit.

The trending system will remain in CASH as well, until at least Friday.

Oleg,

How do you do the TSP Trade since the indicator system is doing a one day trade?

Neither system was designed for TSP trading. I suppose if a person wanted to use the signals for TSP investing, the trending strategy would be the one to follow, as it generates signal changes more infrequently. The indicator-based system is purely a trading strategy.

I personally split my TSP account between IT's service and the Sentiment Survey. My TSP goals are very modest since I make a lot more money in my brokerage accounts. I am plenty content with consistent steady gains in that department since my TSP time horizon still has 30 years left.

Oleg,

The quote below is what I was referring to???

Oleg's post #15 dated: 9/16/2013,

I will be using the indicator system for timing TSP trades. All ETF trades will be taken in accordance with the trend following system. I will post YTD stats later this week, as I've been testing this system since January 2013. Since this is "officially" the system's go-live date, I am more interested in the results going forward than any back-tested data.

At the time, I planned to track stats for TSP trades taken based on the trending system but I have just been too busy with work and family obligations to do that. I have a motto of not fixing what isn't broken. For me personally, following IT and the SS with my TSP has proven successful. Of course, there are a lot of different strategies one can use to be a successful trader or investor. You have to do what works for you. For now, I am following the trending system with 1x and 2x ETF's, which seems to be working just fine.

System Update:

The indicator system went SHORT yesterday, but I did not have time to post. Judging by the futures this morning, slightly better prices are prevailing for this signal. I'll be picking some up in pre-market.

Good luck!

Futures have gone positive on the ECB rate cut.

That was my point, higher futures = better entry prices for short positions. Nicely in the money now so can't complain!

System Update:

Indicator system is moving to cash again after yet another quick 1 day hitter. I traded SPXU for a 3.2% gain.

Unless we have a strong recovery rally tomorrow, the trending system will remain in cash as well going into next week.

Oleg850,

Please clarify your two systems, my understanding, by your past quotes on the two systems, you only use long trading and would not use short trading with these two systems. Am I missing something?

I've stated from the beginning that the trending system was long-only and the indicator system was long/short. I've also stated that trading against the trend is inherently risky, but can be rewarding if you are on the right side of the trade. How a person uses my signals is not for me to decide. Since I can't give individual investment advice, I will just stick to posting the signals and let the end user decide how they want to use them, if at all. I personally go long and short via the indicator system and long only via the trending system. At the end of the day, YOU have to figure out what level of risk tolerance is appropriate for your portfolio.

Your right! My mistake...(In a hurry, today!)

Bought TSLA and FB Dec 6' 13 call options at the open, strike prices of 160 and 50, respectively. On big discount here..

System Update:

Indicator system went SHORT at the close. I'm trading SPXU again.

Trending system remains in CASH.

System Update:

Indicator system will remain SHORT going into next week. I picked up an additional chunk of SPXU at $16.65, which is right around 5% below the initial buy in.

The strong week in equities moves the Trending system LONG. I will likely take a smaller than usual SSO position in line with this. I don't like using 3X leverage for trending systems.

Good weekend, everyone!
