What about the Thriftline?

Of course I haven't done an IFT over the phone in years, but can that still be done?

Hey Rod! Have not attempted that but don't see why one could not make the attempt. The worse they could tell you is transfers are not going to be done today or maybe they actually know when they will start allowing transfers.

Good point though!

For those trying to upload DL or Passport photo you need to make sure you have the format they are asking for, pretty sure you guys read that.

The other catch is making sure it is legible. So don't use a flash to take a photo for the DL or Passport. Also if your emailing that photo to yourself on a different computer or device be sure to use the larger version of the photo. I tried using the smaller version(s) and those did not work. I actually tried 4 times before I finally got it to work.

Also be sure to not crop out the edge of your photo, basically just crop out enough. Leave a little edge so it appears it was an actual photo that was taken, if that makes sense.

Hope that helps you guys.

Honestly I had to call the thrift line and get some help. I did most of the work once she got me started but that was my solution.

Key Takeaways:

  • Everyone has to create a brand new account- this was posted on the TSP site previously
  • If your phone number is not recognized then just do the alternate way to create account; this involves uploading Photo ID, either DL or Passport
  • You will need to also select 2 security questions/answers before your complete the new account
  • You can also create your thrift line PIN prior to completing new account

OK, I have activated the Autotracker again.

If there are problems, let me know so I can delete today's IFTs.

Thanks!

Sure did read it, but it didn't help after multiple attempts. The issue is with TSP.

I scanned my DL directly from my scanner on the highest possible resolution. Trust me, it is very clear. The image size is 1.51MB which is large considering it's just a DL. Cropping is fine. With that being said, the state DL has a colorful and "busy" background for security reasons. It is next to impossible to counterfeit the DL of the state I live in. So the software that TSP is using recognize it as out-of-focus.

Yep, agree the issues are mainly with TSP. Just was trying to help those who may still be considering activating their accounts and the issues they might come across.

Very odd some people can get things to work and others cannot. For example I still cannot make transactions and apparently others can do so. The issues are legit and again mainly with TSP.

Great. :suspicious:

I guess I need to open the Autotracker for those who can make transfers.

My DL has three images of me on it. I cut out two and blotched out the third one. I'm thinking the background is confusing the software into interpreting the image as being out of focus.

The website shows my YTD return as of June 1, 2022 = +1.11%. Interesting since I've lost about $25K this YTD.

That's most likely since May 26. Mine is +0.96%, which is close to what I calculated based on the indices since May 26.

I’m definitely going to wait a while before using the window. I can’t believe how many loose ends there are in this software- I wouldn’t even call it anything more than a pre-beta development software.

I have my new account working, but I’m not gonna IFT anything yet either. I’m just going to watch the charts until the timing is right for a move.

Good luck, TSP developer folks. You got some heavy lifting to do.

I have my account but transactions are not working for me anyway. I won't be doing anything until they figure all this stuff out. As James said watching charts and looking for better entry points anyway.

Ok- a quick report on trying to take money out.

So....I have a roofing guy working on my house this week. I need to take a distribution of about $23 thousand dollars for a new roof on the house. Today I tried to log in and see how I was going to do that.

Mostly, it was fairly straight forward. HOwever, I found two issues that blocked anything from happening. Here is my adventure.

1. It was fairly easy to navigate to find how to do a distribution. I was able to select a PARTIAL DISTRIBUTION request. As I am married, it ASKED ME if I was married, and wanted my wife's name and e-mail address. However, I didn't have to get her notaritzed siganture (which I did under the old system). So I THINK I managed to get ppast that obstical.

2. Next, it wanted to know where to send the money. Here is where the first problem I saw came into play. Under this system, as a safety feature, you cannot request money sent to a back account added LESS THAN SEVEN DAYS ago.

Even though it has my bank account fully in the system, and I can see it, (I am getting monthly payments for the last two years), the COMPUTER THINKS THAT I HAVE NOT HAD THIS BANK ACCOUNT FOR SEVEN DAYS YET- SO IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO CONTINUE CLICKING TO DISTRIBUTE THE MONEY. It says that I have to contact a person on the phone in order to continue. I don't know if that means they have to email me a form for wife.s notarized signature, or if it mans they have to manually override the process.
I am thinking that , first of all, the :"SEVEN DAYS SINCE ADDING A BANK ACCOUNT" means I just need to wait until seven days has passed since the website came on-line.

In any case, I'm going to wait another week and try it again then.

I also found another broken link in the request for distribution process. Unfortunately, they haven't put a tab at the bottom of the page to "report broken link", so I guess we have to wait while they work to fix the huge number of errors and broken links in their software.

I DID find a website feedback form today---in another section of the site. I will have to go find it again and bookmark it, as that appears to be the only way to report site errors.
