Is music getting worse or are we just a bunch of oldies but goodies?

What happened in the 2010's?

Is music getting worse or are we just a bunch of oldies but goodies?

Actually music is getting worse, and the reasoning is technology. I'll let these 2 guys explain:
This first one is from Spectre Sound Studios (Canadian part time music producer & engineer at the time) when he was first starting his YouTube Channel 10 years ago, so when he says "the mediocre BS that they've been dumping on us for the past 10 years now........", he's saying it started around 2004 ish.
Lots of F-Bombs, but it's all kinda funny and true.

....and here's 2 very recent ones (like days old) from Rick. He covers the topic in a more calm & relaxed way, but the message is still the same.
Watch them in order. The first is his overview and opinion, and the second he addresses viewer comments on the first vid, and he also talks about how people just don't care about music, art, etc. because of the rise of Social Media. All good stuff ! ! ! Have Fun....
:D

Perusing the internet, I came across this video and was like yeah, I'll listen a minute. I had to listen to the whole thing. Looks like it was done in 2023.

Not really music video's, but just a couple different sub-genre's that I stumbled across and that I like to listen to when I'm just trolling the web doing "ReSeArCh".......
I don't know if anyone else has heard of these. I know I never had.........but that aint sayin nuthin. With everything thats out there, it's hard to keep up with all of it sometimes. (Plus........I'm old :embarrest:).

DOOM and PHONK

Now, DOOM isnt the same as what DOOM music was back in the day. Now it centers around a video game franchise????????? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have no idea.
Both DOOM and PHONK (below) are kinda like workout playlists of some sort. It may have all been generated on some kids laptop for all I know, without a single real instrument being played.
Whatever it is, I like it......... and there's TONS of music playlists for both DOOM and PHONK styles. Each one's a little different, so just explore...................
If you got a giant Subwoofer or a nice set of headphones...........I would suggest either one of those.....

DOOM

PHONK

It's different, and probably good for workouts or maybe while working around the house. But probably won't make it on my dinner party play list. :)

Thanks!

Nice !!!!
I've always liked Kotzen, but was surprised at Smith's singing voice. Pretty good. I was never an Iron Maiden fanboy, so it took me a little while to figure out who Smith was. Quite a change of style from IM music, but he pulls it off really well. Who'd of thunk it.
:dunno::fing02:

Any Linkin Park peeps out there???.
So here's sumpthin to spend some time on. They just got a new singer (imma day late on this / better late than never) and I'm still evaluating.
Someone to take over Chester's place ...................................... and it's a she.
 Emily Armstrong. Hmmmmmmm
I know nothing about her, so judge for yourself.
I found her old band Dead Sara. I actually like this song from 12 years ago, but Chester left some pretty big shoes to fill, so I'm not sure yet if she's gonna fit. The overall reaction is about 50/50 from what I've seen.
Trying to replace someone like Chester normally doesn't work out too well. It's just not the same vibe, especially with a singer.

Here's her old band:

.....and here she is in Linkin Park from yesterday. U B the judge. (Full Show)

I did like that original band song. I just listened to a couple LP songs and it will take getting used to, but it seems to work.

Thanks for sharing!

It was fun while it lasted.........

.....always did like this guitar riff......

That was interesting. He didn't like that solo? :headbang:

I'm sure the truth will come out eventually, but my understanding so far is that he was frustrated that his vocals weren't loud enough to be heard on stage (or to the crowd) compared to the other instruments, but that's not the band's fault, that's the sound guy's fault. I think there's other issues at play as well. Personal issues.
