Free Gaming 2025

I'm not a "gamer", nor do I have a gaming rig (PC), but I do play FPS's that look interesting to me and are FREE on Steam.
Hero's and Generals was a great and super fun game that I played for a long time until it shut down a while ago. (see vid)
After that I went to Crowz, until that shut down also.
Then onto Planetside 2, which you can still play for free, and is also pretty fun, even though you get killed a LOT.
Warface, Black Squad, and War Thunder were all fun as well. ALL of which are Free 2 Play and ran just fine on my PC.
Currently I'm playing Enlisted, which I'm having fun with for the most part. Don't care much for the AI soldiers that are in your squad, but it is what it is. You can choose a custom (lone wolf) match without the AI soldiers if you want. They're kind of annoying sometimes.
Anyway............ just thought I'd come down here in the basement where no one goes and start this thread. LOL

Way back when I started with an Atari 2600 (I still have it). On and off some computer games I would get on a floppy some years later. Bought our first PlayStation for our daughters around 1995. Moved up to a Nintendo Wii in 2006. Bought my first Xbox 360 late 2007 to play Mass Effect with my one son-in-law. Upgraded to an Xbox One in 2014 to play Destiny with my other son-in-law. Today on an Xbox X/S still playing Destiny with my son-in-law and now my 10-year-old grandson. A lot has changed in video games since the 1970's.

Here's a couple browser based ones. The same but different. 1 soccer and 1 hockey, but they function the same.
Click the link
Click "Play"
Click "Server Browser"
Then refresh the whole page (top left Reload this page) circle icon / that will get your ping way down
Then "Play" again, and then "Server Browser" again / your ping should be way better.
Then scroll down and find a low ping server (with some players / 6 max in most cases)
Click on it and the click on "Connect".
Arrow keys to move and spacebar is the turbo. Square blocks gives you boost.
Have fun. Chat can be a bit salty with a few "angry gamers" trying to get you triggered. Ignore them.... LOL

I guess. It's a leftover thing from years ago. I was an Arcade kid back in the day. Like "Fast Times at Ridgemont High", hangin out in the mall at the Arcade. I always liked playin those stupid games. Never seemed to have enough quarters.
Then we were old enough to drink (it was 18 back then), and we started hangin out in Bars instead.
My Arcade days slowly faded away..........

Ran across this a while back when searching around for racing games. The game I found was called Racing Empire, but it was conceived and developed using a platform called Spatial. https://www.spatial.io/
I don't know much about it, and not sure what "io" stands for, but it just looked interesting and fun to explore.
If your a "Creator" then they allow you to create for free. It seems to be a plethora of like virtual worlds and or games within the platform created by the users. Not many RL people in there when I go poke around the different places, but it still seems interesting. I'm also not sure how old this platform is, or if it's just getting started.
Anyway, just thought I'd share.

So I was contemplating getting rid of this whole thread cause it's kind of a dead topic and I didn't have anything to add, but I ran across a new development over the weekend. Seems there's a bunch of guys in Discord who actually revived the old Heroes & Generals game. I don't know all the details, but they've worked out a deal where they provide the Servers to run the old 2017 version, and are working to update more recent versions (like 2023). I'm not a Developer, so I don't know what it takes to do such a thing, but I have seen that the old H&G community (which was & is huge) are totally stoked about this. Very excited.
It's not on Steam, but it's still FREE2Play. It's only been up and running for a few months, so people are still just finding out about it, and are coming back. It'll take some time as the news gets passed around and people find out.
I haven't loaded it up yet myself. Too much other stuff going on. But as soon as things slow down a bit, I will. It's a different process than on Steam.
Anyway, it looks really good. Just like back in the day. This should be pretty cool if the old player base comes back. We'll see I guess.....
