Geddy Lee?
Jared Leto?
Chris Cornell?
I'm not at all familiar with Jared Leto outside of the fact that he was in a batman movie???? I think that's correct. I don't know his vocal ability at all.
Chris was absolutely an amazing natural talent, and his crossover from lower range to higher was effortless and smooth as silk. Invisible. I prefer the earlier Soundgarden stuff, when he was just going for it 1000%.
Geddy Lee is a whole other animal. He had a "one of a kind" voice, just like you could say that Bon Scott (AC/DC) had a "one of a kind" voice.
I was a huge RUSH fan. Especially Neil Peart (RIP) since drums was the first instrument I learned how to play around age 12 or 13. Saw them live a bunch of times. Always great !!!
The last time was in Baltimore. The place was packed.

Something a little different. Kinda Country, kinda Folksy, with a dash of southern gentleman mixed in.
Mostly, it's all about the HARMONY. Sometimes two voices get together and it's perfect.
They met in a writers workshop and were paired together by chance.
After a couple years, the rumor mill was saying that they were becoming romantically involved even though they were both separately married.
It was never confirmed but the fans wanted it to be true. The duo broke up a couple years later.
NO ..... It's NOT Johnny Depp ....... LOL
(really like the steel guitar on "To whom it may concern")

I'm a big Rush fan as well. Saw them many times -- long ago.

Jared Leto is in a band called 30 seconds to mars - had some hits. My kids turned me on to them. Fair actor (played Mark David Chapman in Chapter 27).

Great "screamer". :) Cool video with with The Shining theme.

Gosh..love the Bury Me song by Thirty Seconds to Mars! Heard it a bunch of times but never saw who sang it.

I am also a big Rush fan and saw them several times years ago. First one was 2112. I should look for the concert ticket! Lol.. I kept lots of those and I know I kept that stub. I have heard that entire album a million times. Great voice!

But I must say I also love Steve Perry's voice as well as Don Henley's...so melodic. So many great male singers! I could easily nominate 20 or so.

To me it always comes down to the music and vocal phrasing and musical composition....lol...so everything! Oddly, I don't listen to lyrics as much...almost an after-thought but the Eagles' lyrics are great. The feeling of the music and later the lyrics are what make me want to sing a song...melodic vocal phrasing. Music can bring out some of the best feelings and some songs just make my heart flutter!

Okay.. So this is not what most would consider a great song. I think it is pretty much forgotten, but I heard it yesterday and listened to it about 5 times. I love the lyrics, the beat, the music, Steve's beautiful voice and phrasing and the message. Message on the Hope of Love... Girl Can't Help It...she needs love. Not showing off his vocals but just makes me melt! :D. I saw them in the 80s and yes I wanted to melt...lol..I guess I'm just still a little "boy crazy"! Okay...well maybe also a hopeless romantic!

I was a huge Civil Wars fan. When they broke up it really let a lot of people down.

"I was a huge Civil Wars fan. When they broke up it really let a lot of people down."

I never realized until I started researching them what a rabid and super loyal fan base they had, and how crushed everyone was when they split.
I can only imagine at some point in the future, that they might reunite for a series of shows, but then again, both John Paul and Joy are super low key and don't involve themselves in too much hype. Plus my understanding is that they had internal differences between themselves as far as the direction of the band in which they never spoke. BUT... if it were to ever happen, it would be HUGE!!

A few years old, but still fun to watch if you've never seen it. Nice little jam.

* Technology *

Man, I was thinkin about posting up some Samantha Fish, but McDuck beat me to it. I was lookin for a good one with her Cigar Box 4 string or her Kerosene Can 6 string guitars but couldn't find a real good one.
So I'll see your Samantha Fish, and raise you a KingFish ........Cristone KingFish Ingram that is. LOL
He's just 17 in this one. It's a live performance and more than one song, so watch as much as you like.
His sound dies 5 minutes in, so I have it cued up just as they fix the problem. (I hope this works) The band plays through the whole glitch.

Since I've had 88676dcf5335156d44c1c1aaae113153.jpg on the brain for the past day or so, I thought this would be kinda cool.
The framerate and sound have been improved where you can Full Screen this and it looks and sounds great.
Having to avoid a structural I-beam support coming through the middle of the stage floor can't be fun ...... LOL
One of my favorite vids. What can I say, I've been a RUSH geek from before 2112.

...and as an added BONUS.
We've all seen the HOF induction vid with Dave Grohl, but a little lesser known clip that truly shows how much their fans love this band.
As someone said in the comments, "The only band in music history to get a standing ovation BEFORE THEY WERE EVEN ANNOUNCED!!!!"
It's fairly short, so watch from the beginning. Wait for it......... all he says is "...and from Toronto...." and the place explodes.

1:30 mark. Puts a HUGE smile on my face every time I watch this
:D:D:D:D:D

Where'd they go WEDNESDAY :dunno:
I LOVE to hunt down and find cool bands before they get famous. SO many in the past that I thought would "make it", but then just faded away.
Being in a band is not easy (it's a ton of work), and so many of them get killed off even before they develop a strong local fan base and following.
This band just did a "reunion" just over a year ago (I think), so I'm not sure if they're gonna stick it out or not.
I'll post more of my "failed guesses" in the future. Love at the very end when the bass player puts his face in the camera and says "I have the best job in the world" !!!
From 2006: DAMONE

RussiaX3.png Ha ha ha ha ....... Since Russia seems to be on everyone's mind at the moment, especially Jan Brady's, I tried to think of any Russian Bands off the top of my head.
The only 2 that came to mind are as follows. I'm not saying they're any good........I'm just sayin they're Russian.
They're not horrible either, and you might think to yourself "Hey, I do remember that....." LOL

Gorky Park
I remember then from "The Moscow Peace Festival", where a bunch of USA rock bands went to Russia and put on a show.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moscow_Music_Peace_Festival

And secondly ......... T.A.T.U.
The Russian Duo who passed themselves off (successfully) as being involved with one another. The vid "All the things she said" is about that.
The truth later came out that it was all fake just to make more money, or as one critic said "They were gay for pay"
Here they are on MAD TV keeping things under control in the middle of the song to keep the Censors happy. Remember, this was 2003......

If you close your eyes, you'd swear it's Humble Pie. At least that's what I thought when I first heard them. Definitely 70's old school rock n roll sound, and the term Stone Fox is definitely from those days.
I think they had only one album. Then the bass player lost a ton of weight and the singer / guitarist cut his hair, and it was over.
:( So good for a 3 piece band.
Close your eyes and you tell me....... is it from the 70's or 2005 ?? LOL Bonus song included.
:approve:
