MrJohnRoss' Account Talk

It looks like MrJohnRoss would like to talk about the market. Please show some respect while in his thread. I have to admit that I kind of enjoyed handing out the negative rep and moving posts to purgatory. ;)

Thanks Tom. I know we all have our opinions, and politics can get kinda ugly at times. I enjoy the occasional political comment, but really don't want to see my thread go high order. Let's leave it at that. I kinda envision my conversations here just like we were all bellying up to the bar and having a cold brew together. The fact that we all enjoy discussing our investments together is pretty awesome. That's what makes this little tavern of ours such a great spot!

So.... cheers everyone! *clink*

Just took a quick look at our market leaders: $COMPQ, $TRAN, & $SPX. All look good except $TRAN.

We've all seen the rollover candlestick graph of the $TRAN, but have you seen the Point & Figure chart? Thought I'd share it, since it was also very interesting.

Note that another circle has been filled in, and the bearish price objective is now 4800. That's about another 7% drop from here. Not coincidentally, that's about where support holds from the Dec lows.

MJR,
I enjoy reading your comments for an excellent education. The P&F chart is completely greek to me. Can you provide a 30 second overview how to read this chart & the "X's" & "O's" or redirect me for some educational material on the subject........

Appreciate your time & the education.....cheers

Thanks for your comments Bronco07.

Point & Figure charts are a rather interesting concept, in that there is no time line, only price movement. If prices don't move, the chart doesn't change. X's mean a higher movement, O's mean a lower movement. It's pure price change, and nothing else.

Stockcharts.com has a good primer on them. I've placed a link to their beginners P&F knowledge base HERE.

Hope this helps!

The markets may want to head higher, but there's a ball & chain pulling on the ankles, and that's the price of oil.

It will really start hurting consumers at some point, if it hasn't already. Certainly by May, if this price trend continues, we could see outlandish gasoline prices, which would drive up the cost of all consumer goods, esp food.

Hard to see the markets skyrocketing higher if this keeps up.

For those of you on the Space Coast, weather conditions are looking good for today's launch of the Atlas 5 rocket with the Navy's MUOS 1 mobile communications satellite.

Launch window opens at 5:15 PM EST, and closes at 5:59 PM EST.

Today's Atlas will fly in the 551 configuration, the most powerful configuration for the Atlas launch vehicle. (Five solid strap-on boosters from our company, BTW).

If you're nearby, that mighty roar you hear and feel is 2.5 million pounds of thrust at lift-off.

This will be the heaviest payload ever launched by Atlas, at nearly 15,000 lbs.

Here's a nice shot of the SRB's (Solid Rocket Boosters) being jettisoned from the Atlas vehicle...

Go Atlas! Go ULA! Go Navy! Go MUOS1! #GodSpeed

Thanks for the reminder. I almost forgot. I'm about 25 miles away and I'd like to watch that launch.

Great pics and links. Now if we can just get manned launches from the Cape again real soon.

Only if the new vehicle doesn't require a 58 Edsel to start it!

Referencing some old foolishness between me and nasa1974.

Great pics. Being there must have been awsome, coolhand.

I've was on-site for a shuttle night launch a couple years ago. That was something to behold.

I was T-minus 4 minutes away from seeing a shuttle launch from across the bay. I was about 50 yards away from the launch clock they show in the pictures. The launch was scrubbed because of a APU (Auxillary Power Unit) problem. :( Many years later I saw a night launch from my sister-in-laws backyard in Tampa.
