Eqypt

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the other Arab neighbors care - they have suppressed all news on Egypt and broken up any attempts by their guest workers from Egypt (mostly white collar, by the way) to rally in suport of what's happening in Egypt. Contrary to assumptions, many Egyptian expat workers are employed in the rich countries of the Middle East; not all are in the EU and the United States. Money from these expats are often the major or only source of income for families in Egypt. Half of the population of Egypt is under the age of 30; and the plush jobs in management and government are not available to them in-country as older workers are all sitting in them.

OK - let me ask you this on a heart to heart level?

Do 'they care' - and here China incluled -- in the sense of Protecting their own Political Struture??

Do 'they care' mainly about their own 'National Interests' - Stability -

and that alone is the Basis for Manipulating the Media??

OR - do you honestly believe their actions reflect a care for the Population in Egypt and the concerns and lifestyles of those people??

I guess when I hear 'They Care' -- I have to wonder in what manner?

Here I would say the way the US suppressed 'news' related to Vietnam would be identical. From my perspective 'The Supression of News' and the manipulation of the Media -- are the greatest means to control any Nation.

According to that video, looks like the people have given the army an ultimatum, join by tuesday (tomorrow) the 1st or else........I have my six pack of beer on ice looks like things could go hot soon....

When Egypt finally settles down (maybe by end of the week?)

the stock market is going to be very, very, very positive.

My 2 cents.

I hope they keep their disagreements with the self appointed leaders there separated from the military as long as possible. Might not turn out the way they expect if the Military has to take over. Make your political leadership listen.

Joel Rosenberg probably spends more time in the Jewish & Muslim countries than at home - certainly has had a lot of on-on-one dialog with all of their variety of rulers & leaders. But, here is a bit different spin on why the sudden change in the conflicts - go to the site for the comprehensive -

.... let’s focus again on the crisis at hand. What we are witnessing in Egypt is an historic clash between true Reformer Muslims who want free elections and free markets, and Radical Muslims who want to use the protests to overthrow the Mubarak regime and install a violent, extremist Islamist government. The Revivalists in Egypt are, for the most part, staying underground. True to their nature, they are remaining apolitical and are devoting themselves to much prayer for the future of their country and the souls of their friends and neighbors.
For the first first few days of last week, most of the initial protestors on the streets of Egypt were peaceful, respectful, somewhat educated, and poor to middle class. I believe they were genuinely calling for an end to the Mubarak regime’s corruption and authoritarian rule in order to achieve more freedom, more opportunity, a better economy, more and better jobs, and a democratic government that would respect and protect their human rights and civil rights and set them free from the stagnant, stultified, oppressive Egyptian system they have suffered under for so long.
However, beginning on Thursday and accelerating throughout the day on Friday, the situation began to change dramatically.
The leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood (which began in Egypt in the 1920) had initially been caught off guard by sudden and intense rise of the protests and had not been involved in planning or developing these protests. But sensing an opportunity, they decided to move decisively and try to coopt the movement for their own purposes. They mobilized their followers throughout the country and told them to take to the streets. That’s when the complexion of the protests took a turn for the worse, characterized by .......

Civil justice taking place there. The Egypt's military is doing what it is supposed to do for Egyptians. They are supposed to protect them. I don't think they'll shoot to kill or otherwise shoot at all. I hope this is a lesson learned by everyone. I'm tired of looking over my shoulder for anyone and everyone to put us in camps, making us orderly for the new world. I'm trusting that our police and military will cease and desist if asked to put us on the trains and planes, God forbid.

First I'd like to say I believe this is an excellent post and all the more one that would reflect the views most would 'naturally' have.

I'd like to comment on the 'Military' aspect:
They are doing what they are supposed to do for the 'People of their Nation'
They are supposed to 'protect them'

This has to be the grounding by which we believe in the Military. This deep rooted belief all the more makes every operation the Military performs - one that is Pure, Just, Honorable, True and Right.

They are an extention of the 'Political Parties' which govern the Nation from one Administration to the next. Any war waged from a previous administration - that is passed on to another - NOW becomes that administration's war and each Administration takes it very 'personally'.

The 'People of their Nation' are NOT the millions and millions of civilians they may think they serve. 'The People' are the few in power - that control and 'own' the military and far more geared towards their 'Selfish Interests and the Interests of the Govermental Structure and its ties with Corporations and Industries -- than the population at large.

The 'Government' will only go soooo far with the smoke and mirrors tactics to appease 'the population'. If need be - the neighboring countries which have already suppressed 'Media Coverage' will send troops to help.

They will be squashed -- totally. The Government will only let this go sooo far before they respond in more forceful manners.

There is no need to look over your shoulder. Live one day at a time - be all you can with each and everyday. It all comes from 'within' and that's something no one can take from you.

http://flashtrafficblog.wordpress.com/ -from Joel Rosenberg's notes on Egypt's changing complexion...

Mohammed ElBaradei is definitely not the guy. He is a false prophet in bed with Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood. We must keep looking for a true Reformer. In the meantime, we must do everything in our power to prevent the Radicals from seizing Cairo, and the rest of the Sunni world with it.

It is a darn good thing that Joel C. Rosenberg isn't in charge of American foreign policy, or else we'd be in a real world of hurt...

Strange you should mention that as I decided what I would officially do THIS MORNING.

I would declare a huge part of Egypt and Iran - and possibly Iraq as INTERNATIONALLY PROTECTED

Beyond National Park Status -- beyond any 'Protected Status' -- I mean I would make it beyond Military Base - Pentagon - Protected.

FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL PEOPLE - GLOBALLY.

I would immediately establishe this - and tough luck for any babies that want to cry about it.

Case closed -- I'm done -- accecpt it and move on.

Re: Eqypt.....right before your eyes

"Second, ElBaredei has demonstrated he is anti-Israel. During his tenure at the IAEA, Iranian leaders publicly and consistently called for the “annihilation” of Israel, denied the Holocaust of six million Jews during World War II, said that the Jewish State was doomed to destruction, that the fall of Israel was “imminent,” as was the coming of the Twelfth Imam which would coincide with the destruction of not just Israel but also the U.S. At the same time, the Iranians feverishly developed their capacities to accomplish the destruction of Israel and our regional allies, including building and deploying ballistic missiles capable of reaching Israel and Europe. Yet in 2009, ElBaradei actually declared that Israel was the greatest threat to the peace and security of the Middle East, not Iran."

Zechariah 14

1Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

The situation in Egypt is falling apart rapidily - this is an attempt at the Islamofacation of the country in high gear.

This is not some students or malcontents protesting for a Democracy.

The US of A has put itself a in dangerous position by not drilling for domestic oil and providing our own energy.

We should be drilling and providing our own energy - if things keep going in this direction it will be bad.
