Unofficial results for May 16, 2013:

S&P 500 (C-fund): -0.50%; DWCPF (S-fund): -0.49%; EFA (I-fund): -0.73%.

Thursday's MSCI EAFE shows a gain of +0.16% for the I-fund (no FV tonight). Movement from noon to close (FV usually needs 0.50% to be triggered): Dow -0.33%; EFA -0.36%; DWCPF & S&P -0.50%. Too close to call, but if I'm guessing, I'd say no -FV.

TNA: -0.73% (YTD: +53.31%). Finally, the pooh bears find some sweet honey. :D

It's official (May 16, 2013): G +0.00%, F +0.31%, C -0.50%, S -0.48%, I -0.39%.

For the I-fund: A new FV (fair value) of -0.55% was added to Thursday's MSCI EAFE of +0.16% (loss -0.39%), due to late market movements to the the downside. So today (Friday), the I-funders will have an FV buffer of +0.55% against the overseas markets.

Oh well, it was a toss up on the FV and I guessed wrong. :D

Unofficial results for May 17, 2013:

S&P 500 (C-fund): +1.03%; DWCPF (S-fund): +0.98%; EFA (I-fund): +0.69%.

Friday's MSCI EAFE shows a loss of -0.50% for the I-fund. If we add Thursday's FV buffer of +0.55%, then the I-fund is up +0.05%. Any +FV coming for Friday? Let's see. Movement from noon to close (FV usually needs 0.50% to be triggered): Dow +0.43%; EFA +0.48%; S&P +0.58%; DWCPF +0.40%. Only the S&P went over +0.50% and the dollar is up over half a percent, so the I-fund probably won't get a +FV. But if the TSP overlords decide to give one, I won't be against it.

TNA: +3.10% (YTD: +58.07%). The bulls have all the love while the bears get diddly-squat. :suspicious:

It's official (May 22, 2013): G +0.00%; F -0.30%; C -0.81%; S -1.60%; I -0.04%.

For the I-fund: There’s no FV (fair value) added to Wednesday’s MSCI EAFE -0.08%. A price adjustment of +0.04% made it to the I-fund’s final price. Note: All of the major indices were down at least one percent from noon till closing time: Dow (-1.24%); S&P (-1.50%); DWCPF (-2.07%); and EFA (-1.12%).

And yet, there was no -FV given, so that’s very strange and unusual. The TSP overlords must have known something about the futures in the overseas markets. Indeed, Japan’s Nikkei 300 was up (and not down) one percent during its early morning session, but things went downhill from there.

The I-fund jumpers should have had an FV buffer of at least one percent today against the overseas markets. By the way, the Nikkei 300 (-6.66%) just had a fire sale, so right off the bat, the I-fund is down -1.67% (-6.66% divided by 4), approximately. The European markets will only add to the losses once it opens.

China's manufacturing index fell below 50% (indicates contraction) for the first time in seven months. :worried:

TNA: +0.36% (YTD: +52.50%). Yesterday's I-fund jumpers got royally screwed.

I was wondering how the green and red patterns would stack up in relation to each other after seven years. Here are the patterns and their win-percentages:

5/RRR .5908; 3/GRR .5538; 8/RGR .5466; 6/RRG .5262 -- bullish red patterns.
1/GGG .5268; 7/RGG .5272; 4/GRG .5274; 2/GGR .5388 -- bearish green patterns.

Most of these patterns have made over 200 appearances on the ebbchart. Bullish red pattern 5/RRR ends up with the highest win-percentage, and bearish green pattern 1/GGG gets the lowest win-percentage. It's also very interesting to see the other patterns on opposite sides. I'd really like to know how the patterns perform after seven more years. ;)

Anyone having problems with internal speakers from your iPhone or iPad? I've had intermittent sound for the last six months, then lost all the sound coming from my iPad last week. Tried everything and nothing worked until I tried the pencil shaving trick. I shaved some pencil graphite (not the wood part) and poured it down the earphone-jack hole. Closed the hole with my fingertip and turned it upside-down a couple times, then let the excess powder out. Inserted an earphone back and forth, and voila, the sound is back! They say the fix is permanent, so I'm one happy camper right now. :D

Interesting. I have ipad1 and it's sound went out about 6 months ago too. Then it came back intermittently. Maybe I'll try that fix..

TNA: +4.03% (YTD: +58.66%). The bulls struck early, but lost some ground playing defense. :D

Clester, iPad1 thinks an earphone is plugged in when there is none from time to time (known problem). If you still have a warranty on your device, then you may want to send it back, and Apple wouldl probably send you a new next-generation iPad. Or, spend money for Apple to fix it, and they send you a new device.

The fix is easy to do and works like a charm. Just shave/scrape some pencil graphite with a knife on a piece of folded paper, then guide the powder in the earphone-jack hole (shake off the powder and plug an earphone). :)
