I also noticed difficulty making an interfund transfer this morning the 30 minutes prior to 12 noon eastern standard time ...

Dell,

Only within the past 15 minutes (it is now 1300 Eastern time) was I able to read all of the message traffic about the change from I to S. :notrust: I went ahead and input the TSP Interfund transfer (into S) and don't know if it will successfully my previous input (into I) early this morning. I don't know if I'll get the funds into the I or S funds on Monday since it was after the 1200 hour deadline.:(

One thing I do know is I'll be really ticked if TSP decides to start charging or limiting its customers when they want to accomplish fund transfers. If they do, I sure as heck hope they'll provide a better service and allow its customers to input transfers until...1600 hours eastern time.:D

I had the same web error message at 7:30 CDT this morning, but I kept trying and hopefully was sucessful going to the I fund. I got the confirmation page finally. Looks like they found a way to limit the transfers.

Be careful with a last minute change to an IFT. You can get a result you didn't expect.

For instance, a little while back, I was in the I fund and completed an IFT before noon to the G fund. Then I decided at the last minute to change to the F fund. I started my change before noon but didn't complete it till just seconds after noon. What happened?

My account stayed in I fund that night. Next day at COB it went to F.

I would have thought if I didn't get the change done in time the my prior G fund request would execute...nope.

I did not have problems getting into my TSP account, but I could not make the change effective COB. Although the CPU time was prior to 12:00 ET. Anyways, I will still end up with a gain, Thanks to you guys. GL

Don't forget, you may still make IFT's buy using the ThriftLine by phone, which is better then getting constant online error messages.

Thanks SkyPilot. I check the status and found out that the transfer will be effective COB today.

It sounds to me like the folks managing the TSP are clueless as to what is going on with the EbbChart. But they've always had to know this kind of thing could happen once they switched over to daily valuation. Unless they have to buy bigger / faster servers to accomodate the IFTs, I don't understand what their hangup is.

They are concerned about their fiduciary responsibilities. They don't want anyone who over trades and potenially takes a loss to turn around and blame them. This kind of nonsense happens all the time in the private sector. After all most bureaucratic regulators view themselves as omnipotent. They will save you from yourself - fear the Donkey.

I agree 100% on all counts

uh, the donkey has been gone for just a few years now. The omnipotent one (he who knows better than everyone else) appears to be an elephant.

Yep Birch,

The donkey knows better than us, it's the nanny state ya know.

ebb, I wonder how you determine whether to go into the F fund or the G fund. If you don't mind answering that, please make it simple as I am pretty new at this game and need it simple to understand. It looks like we missed another good gain in the F fund, but at least we didn't lose. Thanks for your diligence in keeping us all informed. I would be in favor of doing whatever we need to do to keep the daily trades going. So if you need support in convincing the Wahington folks, count me in.

If you're saying what I think you're saying, I think you said it backwards. I'm just say'in.

Welcome to the site!

Crhuss, the ebbtracker tracks the F-fund the same as the C, S, and I-fund. I got the green signal to go to the F-fund, but as I've said before if there is a possible G-penny paying I'd go for that first. If only folks here had a consensus of the G-penny paying on Monday then things would have been different -- I would have been on the F-fund today. :(

Just a side note-

I got in fine this morning to set the IFT around 8:30 am, and had no problem at all changing the IFT at 11:50 am.

Could not have been a smoother transaction for me.
