coolhand's Account Talk

Unloading some High Yield at this juncture would be good risk management- just think of that article from yesterday where that guy said the easy money has been made. I currently own PRULX which I bought 3 weeks ago even though Nassim Taleb said yesterday that, "every human should be short US Treasuries". Want to be contrarian with me?

Based on current market action and other indicators I'm looking at, my guess is we see a bounce this afternoon and end the day green and then see some initial follow through on Monday with a reversal in the afternoon, possibly closing red. The Seven Sentinels have probably not bottomed on this correction yet. Since the S&P 1030-1035 area is being watched by so many traders, I suspect a rally will begin either in the 1040s or well below the 1030s.

I still like GOV, but that's an attractive play too. I'll consider that. Thanks.

I held 3 bond funds(Multi sector, New Market Income and High Yield) through 2009, and all three did very well, but it seems, they are running out of steam. I may move some of it to a stable value until things settle down, then move a portion back into equities.

Let me update my expectations now that the market has revealed its hand this afternoon. With the assumption that the market closes deep in the red today, and knowing that a lot of traders are thinking Monday bounce again, I say the selling continues, but we may see a hook early on Monday of an apparent rally to commit some bulls, then an intraday reversal.

In no way do I think a rally Monday is a slam dunk this time. High risk play under current circumstances. But if we do indeed sell off Monday, it might finally trigger the bearishness we need to put in a tradable bottom for TSPers.

That's my thought and I'm free to change my mind at any time. :D

I'm telling ya, da boyz are reading my thread. Now it looks like we close green as I originally thought. Follow through Monday morning to the upside, suck in some bulls, and jam it back down into the close.

"The outlook for global growth is likely to be a key theme of the high level central bank talks."

With that kind of firepower present, I doubt the talks will be that boring. I'd guess more talks about the world currency situation will be #1 on the agenda. They need to work out a plan B, since plan A, who can devalue the fastest, isn't going to work.

Well, I tried to turn on my laptop at the airport yesterday and got a fatal error trying to boot-up.

I can't even boot in safe mode. That means I won't be able to post charts for a few days, but I'll try to at least provide some commentary.

Boy CH,

My HD blewup on my laptop last week and I was getting similiar looking messages, though I was able to load up in safe mode. Dell had to put a new HD in. What a hassle. Good Luck,

CB

Hi Coolhand,

The last time (About 1 year ago) I got the Blue Screen of Death made me think What can I do to not lose all my information if this ever happens again in the future.

I ended up having to reload windows from the recovery disk that I got with my computer. I did lose pretty much everything that I could not remember on how to get back.

I bought a product called PC Backup & Recovery from Acronis. I also bought a 640GB My Book External Hard Drive. I have my computer set to backup everything every 3 day's starting at 3:00 a.m.
I have been happy with my backup system since I bought these things. The nice thing is when you first turn on the computer or restart your computer an option comes up during the boot process F11 to boot right into the Acronis program and it is there where you can restore your computer up to your most recent backup.

This is just food for thought because I have a feeling you will be restoring your computer. Now may also be a good time to think about Window's 7.
