If you do have to reload windows, use diskdigger to scan the hard drive after and it will show what is left on the drive from before you reformated it. You'll lose the stuff on the sectors that windows got reloaded on. My laptop went down a few months ago and I was able to recover 90% of my files(pics, documents, etc) It is also good to see what you thought you deleted and still resides on the drive.

Have you tried tapping your F8 key rather than keeping it pressed down too long? Some keyboards react differently and timing can be the problem for getting into safe mode. Have you tried shutting down the laptop and restarting?...Shutting down the computer and then restarting should bring it back up in safe mode. If you've done all you can and still can't get into safe mode I'd guess that a mass storage driver is damaged or perhaps a virus has replaced critical windows files.
What type of computer and operating system is on your laptop?

Thanks for the help folks, but I don't think I'm going to be able to get this fixed without my recovery disc. I did all the most obvious stuff with no luck. Fortunately, I'm only on the road a few days.

I jumped into stocks today, but earlier than I'd like. Being on the road means I don't have the time to watch what's going on and that means front-running the system.

I'm looking for weakness today (it's Weird Wolly Wendnesday), but if we don't get it that might be okay too. Sentiment turned bearish a couple days ago and the Seven Sentinels look as though they may give a buy in the next couple days (assuming upside action).

So I'm taking a chance here and I may cancel my IFT if things don't look right, but I don't think that will happen.

A price of $13.01 on the C fund and a price of $16.25 on the S fund would be nice entry levels for today. Hope you get those prices.

That's what I figured yesterday, when I jumped back in. May be a short play, but it looked to me like it was just another consolidation within the uptrend.

At the risk of putting the hex on us, I will say that I think you made a great move. I wish I had your patience.

I was surprised you didn't put some in the I fund. Have you looked at the dollar chart?:D

Yeah, I know but that I fund has been scary lately! It is Feb and if I can make two good plays, I take it and run. I did pick up .47/share in the S, buying back in with $99,000. Nothing ground breaking.

Today's action (if it holds) might officially flip the Seven Sentinels to a buy. We'll see how it plays out.

But more chop could be in store regardless.

If it flips to BUY - :D - then I would think some sustained gains should follow. It's been awhile since any real uptrend has been realized and hopefully that would signal an end to the correction and the general blahs.

Anyway -- we'll hope for the best.

Hey Coolhand,

You see IYB/Don's recent entry on Traders Talk showing the OEX crowd call buying... looks like his new system and old system are pointing in the same direction.

Not sure how fast follow through will come, but next week could be real interesting. :D

Congrats! Great call.

Although, I don't think I've ever heard anybody here say "I nailed it".:D

So, how long are you planning to stay in stocks? You said that the signal could stay in a buy for a couple of weeks? I don't think I have the patience to stay that long.:D

If NAMO and NYMO get toppy I may bail. How long it takes to get there is the question.
