alevin's account talk

Good Luck-
It's a sloppy day here in the PDX/SW Wa area. So much for that early spring.
Our grass grows like crazy when the sun does come out, lately never getting dry enough to mow before the next deluge sets in.

Same here, keeping the front yard mowed, back yard is 2ft tall, except around the garden-I got that much done with string trimmer last weekend (and to think I mowed 3x already since end of February!). Neighbor's vacant lot has 5ft tall wheat, growing right next to my back fence-talk about fire hazard later this summer (I got plans for that...:suspicious:)

Wow Steady! That's quite the White Elephant tale youve got going in that other thread over there. Makes me glad I bought my Fresh Cotton/Air-dried Laundry smelling candle last night. It will help me remember what clean air smells like (that is, until the rain stops and I get to hang real sheets out on the laundry line again )

Yeah, I guess I went a little crazy.

Once I make characters it's so easy to let my imagination go wild because I picture these cartoon characters... and once the dam breaks everything flows out.

Well stay safe and hope the weekend goes well.

Steady

hmmmmm -- not sure what you're talking about

Thanks !! To whoever --- made it up so fast -- I just went to read it over

then I remembered .....oh yeah, I was just dreaming

Hey Steady, I love when you get going on a story. Maybe another will come to mind sometime soon. Anyway the sun's out this afternoon, outlook is for another non-rainy day about 3 days from now-the only nonrainy day coming up for the next week. Roofing job put off for another week, looks like. Got to go check the garden now, see if I dare put a few plants in the ground tonight. No seeds, just plants. anyway, hope your weekend goes well, I know how hot and muggy it gets back there.

hey - can you see your grass growing today???
I found a Wild Turkey in our back yard!
One with legs and a beak!

wow! No turkeys in my neighborhood, just the odd cougar every few years. watch out where there's one turkey, there's usually more-some of them could even have beards and wobble when they gobble! :p

I got plants planted last night before dark, planting seeds today, yahooo!!! It was supposed to thunderstorm last night, but it must have gone around us. sunshine today, the wind quit too. lovely day for yardwork. about to head outside now. stringtrimmer for the grass and garbage bags ready for pulling more weeds along the lotline. Have a great day with the turkeys. don't drink too much. :cheesy:

OK, latest assessment using DeMark Indicators-note I'm still new at this, using simple DeMark Indicators-there is much more yet to learn.

the ones I'm using are fairly straightforward but the price flip sell signal back in early January threw my count off-I was working on a 13 count, thought it ended, but looks like it didn't, after all. the pattern is 9-13-9 before major price flip sell signal. We hit it and just ended week 5 of 9 down in the DeMark system.

Hey Steady I enjoy your stories too. Got any from your basic training days or as a young soldier which was more recent.

Wow !! Thank you so much :)

Yeah, I thought about asking Tom if I could get a copy of my last one. When I finally had a chance to go back and enjoy it I couldn't.

Well plants are a lot better and once you get em' outside hopefully they'll thrive.

'Hot and muggy' is something I can't stand. Hopefully the weather will be comfortable in the mountains of Virginia over the next few weeks. My weekend was good and I hope yours was as well.

When I get back I'll finish the one in process on the Grove and Trip Pad.

Well, take care -- I'm off tomorrow morning.

Hey Steady I enjoy your stories too. Got any from your basic training days or as a young soldier which was more recent.

Thank you my friend.

Basic Training was great back then -- The Drills could actually kick your ass. It's kind of funny reflecting back on those days. Within the first few days I was the last one to show up for Formation. :D:D

So the Senior Drill tells everyone to 'get down' - but points over to me and tells me to just stand in place - cause I'm the last one and that 'Makes me Special'. ;)

Well so you've got hundreds of guys in the push up position listening to the Sr. Drill casually taking about the days events as though this is just another ordinary day. It was the first time he pulled this crap and everyone but me is having to stay in this position. So then he makes them all start doing push-ups and is stressing to everyone why they are doing the push-ups and ...

WHAT'S YOUR NAME BOY ??

******** Drill Sgt !!!

Why PRIVATE ***** is standing. I never showed up last again.

*********************************************************

I was kind of crazy back then - in that I was really into it -- I mean seriously I was GI Joe to the Max.

One day shortly after going overseas I got to be the one to take the Platoon on a run -- So I'm actually on top of the world cause that meant I get to make the pace and have a really good run so it seriously felt like 'Christman Day' and I look at the Plt Sgt and ask how far ?? Of couse he has no idea what I'm about to do and tells me go as far as I want to -- that 'I'm in charge'.

I started off at a fairly good pace and was 'lost in my own little world' So you've got a bunch of guys huffing and puffing trying to keep up and you've got me up there in the front having the time of my life thinking everyone else is loving this just as much as me. With great enthusiam I tell everyone 'We're going to pick up the pace' AND in my mind I'm actually believing everyone is Excited so I start running a REAL RUN. Much to my surprize the rest of the guys were NOT enjoying it and the Plt Sgt a little while later says to turn around. WELL -- I'M THINKING -- He wants to save our energy and push it at the end. I keep the RUN Pace about half way back to the Company and tell everyone we always save the BEST for LAST and we are going to SPRINT from here to the company.

The ones that made it back with me -- collaspe on the ground as soon as we got back. The ones close -- also collasped. The Plt Sgt and all the others are red - sweating - tired and angry.

I never got to lead another run until I was in Special Forces.

Morning Steady! I like your stories much better than the ones my brother told about the period of time he was drill sergeant. Must be the perspective. :cheesy:

On another note, no regrets here about being 50+. Way better than years prior. Don't know what the future will be, but I know who holds the future. And so enjoying the small joys-garden planted and ready to grow, good neighbors, sunny days (finally!)....and being barely underwater at the moment in TSP.

My vacation times will start in midJuly-Rocky Mtn air will feel great once it gets over 90 here! Have a wonderful time on yours.

Morning Steady!

Good morning sweet little sister ;)

I like your stories much better than the ones my brother told about the period of time he was drill sergeant. Must be the perspective. :cheesy:

Thanks -- on the whole it's worth the committment and I've never met anyone that's not deeply proud to be a veteran.

On another note, no regrets here about being 50+. Way better than years prior.

Yeah, it's kind of weird because in a huge way I'm starting to feel like a kid BUT ~~ this time I've actually got the security and years of experience to honestly let life flow more freely and enjoy it more.

Don't know what the future will be, but I know who holds the future.

That's probably the greatest aspect of my future. Will likely follow the bigger bother's example and settle down in some beautiful area that's far removed from the 'rat race'.

mmmm Senica Lake in the Blue Ridge Mts.

Anyway, I think He'll hold it much better by allowing myself a far greater freedom -- and I look forward to that.

And so enjoying the small joys-garden planted and ready to grow, good neighbors, sunny days (finally!)....and being barely underwater at the moment in TSP.

I've got to admit -- the garden is always a huge highlight.

'Good neighbors' -- -- I picture me and a bunch of others wearing Tibet Monk outfits and spinning gracefully in the lawn in bare feet and doing 'chants' and lighting big fires at night and dancing and singing in the firelight .... and coming up with different ideas like sprinkling flower pedals in the Lake with eveyone bowing and lifting our arms up in the air -- and humming

All the while -- our ex USMC neighbor shouts out -- 'Look what these $)_*#@_@ idiots are doing now'!!

On the TSP thing -- I'm underwater now as well -- Finally !!

I see the bright side -- it means I must be 'buying at incredible prices' so in the long run I don't mind at all.

My vacation times will start in midJuly-Rocky Mtn air will feel great once it gets over 90 here! Have a wonderful time on yours.

Thank You !!! It will be good to get away from everything and just enjoy the outdoors.

Hope your vacation is wonderful as well.

Per the chart I last posted here (above), looks like this week will end as week 6 of 9 down according to DeMark prognosticating system.

Today on daily charts looks like it will be day 5 of 13 down/sideways, following 9 down (9-down uses different DeMark method than the follow-on 13-count).

Just sayin'.

well, today's a good day, even if I'm out of the market. I became a first-time great aunt over the weekend. Everyone's doing great. I get to go see the new family addition in a few weeks.

wow! I just realized, my grandma is now a great-great grandma! wow! (I'll go back to Illinois to see her later this summer).

Wow! You're old. :D

Congrats. Family is the most rewarding acquisition in life.

ooooh Malyla! Just wait, your turn will come. Besides old is as old feels. today I'm feelin' pretty young actually.

And besides, I'm still a youngster compared to some. There's them that's older'n dirt and already retired-like Birch! I've got a far piece to go yet before I get to that stage. :D

congratulations alevin,

you'll make a great, great aunt.

key is to let the children know they are loved, no matter what, every chance you get, but you already know that.

thanks, BC. I truly enjoyed my great aunts, so I hope to give the new little one the same opportunity and attention.

She's pretty special already, she's got 2 very young stepbrothers (no relation to me), who've been waiting for her to show up. They are pretty pleased about the situation too, thank goodness. :)
