alevin's account talk

Congratulations on your retirement! So glad to hear you were able to leave your position in the best place possible. I see many who leave without a care for the mess they leave behind. Let us know how the transition goes.

Oh just had to wish you Congratulations on your retirement. Be happy and enjoy..it's your choice! I'm 6 yrs out now and very happy. I came out 2 yrs earlier than planned for caregiving for father and brother so 1st 3 yrs out were really just a different type of work which was hard and sad. After they both passed its that 3rd yr out when I say my real "retirement" began. No Regrets at all coming out early but I always tell my friends don't rush it and don't wait too long.

Congratulations to you and well played! I'm down to 21 days and can't wait!

The days will pass in a flash, RR. trust me! :beerchug: Flalaw, yes, that was one of the several reasons I hung in as long as I did, was covering for another recently retired position as well as my own, this past year, and pitching in to extent possible for a 3d person who had more than they could handle as well. downsizing and slow replacement together really put a load on those who remain. Replacing me will be slow, I know, so, I felt it essential that I stay long enough to get the new guy reasonably started, especially considering he's coming in from outside the agency, even though familiar with some of our work.

Nnuuut, I do recall your early retirement days at poolside! hope you and the pool are still spending great time together.

Eldercare is not for the weak, is it Tonysista? I'm thankful I had a lot of SL saved prior to the past 4 years, an awful lot of it got used, along with most of my AL, providing care for dad, then mom, as well as early for myself after losing my brother without warning shortly before eldercare needs arose.

Being able to do situational telework the past several years also was a major part of the coping strategy for me. Without that being possible and allowed, even before everything officewise shut down for other reasons, I'd have retired probably 3 years earlier, to provide the eldercare. I am grateful for the time I was able to be with them, considering we lived far apart under normal circumstances.

Congratulations again Alevin on the retirement! You'll love it! Amazing how all the projects will fill the available time! All your neighbors, friends, and long lost relatives will be callin' cause you're retired you know! plenty to do! Have fun you earned it!
