An Inconvenient Truth: The Ice Cap Is Growing

A report from the US National Snow and Ice Data Center in Colorado finds that Arctic summer sea ice has increased by 409,000 square miles, or 26 per cent, since 2007. But didn't we hear from the same Center that the North Pole was set to disappear by now? We all deserve apologies from the global warming fanatics who wanted to reshape the world in their image and called those who objected to their wild theories ignorant deniers. They were so convinced the world was ending and only they could save it, yet now they have been exposed as at best wildly idealistic and at worst frauds. They should have to do public penance for their hubris. I suggest they sit on blocks of melting ice and ponder their limitations. Either that or let the polar bears deal with them.

I seriously doubt that anyone here does not believe there is climate change happening. I doubt anyone here knows exactly what.
The reason for all the controversy is that some have decided to try to profit from climate change by releasing propagada fear films rediculing parents and trying to teach kids that the only hope is to send money to certain entities. The same persons realeasing the films incidentally profit immensly from that money and have carbon foot prints bigger than some nations. More Hypocrisy by leaving ralleys in a rather humble efficient vehicle only to stop when out of site and enter the limousine surrounded by SUVs that have been idleing for hours to keep the climate inside controlled. We all know by now one of the hipocrites I am referring to. He is by no means the only one trying to profit off the fear and hype about climate change.
When me and other Joe Lunchboxes see this hypocrisy, no matter where or which side it comes from, we figure that seeing all the propaganda, hype, fear mongering, profiteering and the fact the preachers aren't practicing what they are preaching means it is all a bunch of bullshit. Therefore we get on with other things like supporting the family and life in general.
I cannot think of anything to hurt the cause of awareness of climate change more than the crap that's going on right now.
Meteorological questions? Yeah, when/where is the next big fire gonna be in the Southwest US? Post it on gacc.nifc.gov. Since you're the expert, when, where and what time will the forest spontaneously combust due to global warming if I don't send money to NRDC or maybe GIM or the UN Carbon Registry?

Global warming is happening, the cause is debatable, and will cause the next ice age and the next ice age will cure the real problem and that is the burden of over population. I just hope that the wars that will come will not total destroy the planet.
History has proved that global warming and ice ages are natural part of the earths cycle. It is how we got some of our plains and the Great Lakes. It won't happen all in one year or one decade, but it will happen.

Not that the chart is not valid, but 100 years does not prove anything to me because this planet has been here much longer than that.
What fraction of a percent would 100 years represent for the entire existence of the planet?
How about just half of its existence?
I don't know, but I bet it is a very small number. My point is that your 100 year sample is no more valid than the "cherry pick" sample that you refer to.

Temp readings were done at Railroad stations from the mid 1800's until late 1930's. They did them there, because that's were the telegraph station was, so they could telegraph them in. The weather service observations were provided by.....railroad station masters.
Starting in 1926, many stations were moved into city centers and city airports. Because that's where the telephone offices were, and Weather's new mandate under the Air Commerce Act of 1926 to support aviation. Temperatures were taken by....the Commerce Department.
In the 1960's, they started moving the airports from city centers- to major new airports OUTSIDE the city- out in the country-because the Commerce Department spun off the Transportation Department (1964), and the U.S. Weather Bureau started taking funding from the Transportation Department to provide weather services for aircraft rather than primarily for farmers. NOAA was created in 1974. The 1960's move of Weather stations coincided with opening places like O'Hare airport in Chicago, Kennedy in New York, Dallas-Fort Worth, etc, as cities all across the nation built new, major airports OUTSIDE the city limits, in places previously that had little development.
Example- Chicago Midway shifted traffic to O'Hare in 1962. JFK Airport in New York began jet service in 1959, as did LAX airport- again, in 1959. DFW Airport opens in 1974.
The temp sensors moved too. Sure, some are beyond the end of the runway. But then you get, at some periods of time, air blowing over the heated runway before it gets to the sensor. And other places, you get more runways being built, and therefore more concrete in the area of the sensor.
My theory is as good as Al Gore's.
