GOP Senators Urge U.N. to Appoint Independent Investigator Over 'Climate-Gate'

A band of 28 Republican senators is calling on the United Nations to appoint an independent investigator to probe leaked e-mails they claim raise serious questions about the science behind global warming.

A band of 28 Republican senators is calling on the United Nations to appoint an independent investigator to probe leaked e-mails they claim raise serious questions about the science behind global warming.
Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, announced last week that the U.N. would conduct an investigation, saying at the time that the controversy over the e-mails was serious and that he didn't want to "brush anything under the carpet."
But the GOP senators wrote in their letter to Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon that while such an inquiry is a "positive step," they want an investigation "that is truly independent of the IPCC and the U.N." -- in the style of the independent investigation led by former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker in the wake of the Oil for Food scandal. LONDON – E-mails stolen from climate scientists show they stonewalled skeptics and discussed hiding data — but the messages don't support claims that the science of global warming was faked, according to an exhaustive review by The Associated Press.
The 1,073 e-mails examined by the AP show that scientists harbored private doubts, however slight and fleeting, even as they told the world they were certain about climate change. However, the exchanges don't undercut the vast body of evidence showing the world is warming because of man-made greenhouse gas emissions.
The scientists were keenly aware of how their work would be viewed and used, and, just like politicians, went to great pains to shape their message. Sometimes, they sounded more like schoolyard taunts than scientific tenets.
The scientists were so convinced by their own science and so driven by a cause "that unless you're with them, you're against them," said Mark Frankel, director of scientific freedom, responsibility and law at the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He also reviewed the communications.
Frankel saw "no evidence of falsification or fabrication of data, although concerns could be raised about some instances of very 'generous interpretations.'"

Just show me PROOF that CO2 is causing Global Warming and that higher levels will cause us all to DIE!! I haven't seen one argument that does.
Plants LOVE CO2 and they make OXYGEN from the CO2, the oceans store CO2, when the oceans warm they store MORE!! IF we are warming it's not because of higher levels of CO2. These guys were caught RED HANDED COOKING the BOOKS, show me the holes!! :cool:

Science magazine is published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) -- or is it the American Association for the Advancement of Secret Science?

In the November 6 issue of Science, reporter Jocelyn Kaiser writes about the recently enacted law mandating public access to scientific data collected courtesy of tax dollars. But Kaiser's article is decidedly negative on the new law:

The article calls the law an "unwelcome message" for academic researchers. But why? Because federally-funded, Wizard of Oz-type researchers will no longer be able to hide behind their version of what our data says?

The article says "Others worry that raw data will be requested before it has been analyzed and peer reviewed." This is yet another dodge. First the purpose of the law is ensure that scientific results can be checked.

The purpose is not to impede scientific research. Second, scientific data, especially epidemiologic data, is rarely, if ever, peer-reviewed before publication. Typically, only the actual, to-be-published reports are peer reviewed -- and often even the quality of that is questionable.

Again, its plain and simple, real scientists never destroy raw data, so that their results can be verified and reproduced. The only reason to destroy raw data is to hide the truth.


Can you say agenda? To many scientists are questioning these climate results, but our MSM is still silent on the subject. Hmmm;) Lets review the data, before we destroy our children's future with obscene taxes and wealth redistribution. We have time to openly and honestly to debate this, heck 40 years ago they were calling for the next ice age, luckily we didn't buy that load of crap. Lets shine a bright light on this, instead of demonizing anyone who dares questions the results.
 
The link is a study done in 2007 discrediting the belief that CO2 causes Global Warming. Below is a copy of one of the graphs used in the paper showing Temperature verses CO2 and other variables known at the time. You notice the HOCKEY STICK rise from 1950 to 2007. This data proved to be false last month when the emails that were hacked came out, so even with the false temperature rises this scientific study still finds that CO2 had NOTHING to do with it!!
