tsptalk's Market Talk

The 10-year Treasury yield filled one of February's gaps on Monday. Today it seems to have an eye on the other one.

I talked about this in our TSP Talk Plus Report this morning

, the positive divergence in the High Yield Bonds yesterday. They were up despite the big losses in stocks.

Now today.... boom! But that 50-day EMA has been trouble of late.

Another big day for the credit market. The HYG pushed above the 200-day EMA this morning, but now it's testing the descending resistance line...

How about that credit market - HYG. I know I'm dwelling on this, but this may be what has helped stocks hold this rally. It's overbought in the short term and just filled an old open gap near 84, and now all of the open gaps are down below. Further upside would be impressive, but I think it gets tougher up here.

The 50-day EMA on both the Russell and the EFA are in play big time. The EFA is trying to stay above after a breakout earlier in the week, while the Russell is trying to get above it.

The correlation between oil and the S&P continues. On Friday oil broke above the 50-day EMA. This morning it fell back below it sitting near $52.00.

The transports and small caps are outperforming today, but it's the semiconductors that are really leading today and keeping the S&P afloat. The SOX is up testing the 200-day EMA so clearly this is an interesting area -- for maybe the whole market.
