TSP Talk Silver Coins / "Rounds" (Part II)

Tom
Do you have any more of the coins for sell and if so how much are they. I wish to get some. Thanks in advance and have a very blessed day.
Thanks for your interest! I will have some left but I am going to wait until all the pre-orders are filled before coming up with that number. I'm still waiting on a few payments.

Possibly after next weekend. I will figure out what's left and I'll assume by then (next Monday it will be 3 weeks) that anyone who did not pay is passing.

I will let you know. Thanks.

I would like 10 or at least 6 for my grandkids if they do come available. Waiting patiently for others to fall out and I can jump on this train.

Re: TSP Talk Silver Coins / "Rounds"

let me axe you something...

i have a story to tell. it is about lasting value. but before i begin i want to say no hearts or federal reserve notes were intentionally harmed, at least by me. i just found them that way.

and it has a lot of pictures so some might find it easier to follow.

i have been struggling with this shiny silver thing. yes, it is very shiny, but what good is it if you are afraid to use it or scratch it? major catch 22. so i decided to find out.

this is some of the things i keep close. a bit of cash to smooth the way, a hatchet to well do what hatchets do if needed, a quarter to decide heads or tails type questions, and a medicine bag of sorts.

the medicine bag is worn because i ran it through the washer on accident one time. it has a heart in it that reminds me love will find the way. the heart had a compass. the compass broke when i accidentally washed it. the ounce of tsptalk silver keeps getting scratched by the broken heart. life is strange, things happen, who am i to argue?

so i was thinking about quarters the other day because i have swallowed one before. and silver because quarters used to be made of silver. so here is my 25 cents. what is a quarter worth? a quarter of what?

i bought an ounce of tsptalk silver for about $20 bucks. what is it worth? it changes everyday depending on the value of silver, confidence in fiat currencies, and other such nonsense. who knows? i have a $20 dollar bill (bill means just like it sounds, a bill, a debt instrument to be paid for services or value recieved prior to payment, an obligation, in andrew jackson's case an obligation of his great great greag grandchildren, how convenient). who knows? i have a quarter which is 25% of a dollar which if i had four quarters would be worth 5% of one andrew jackson debt obligation to somebody else's grandchildren. and it's made out of tin and zinc and trace amounts of copper not even silver anymore so basically that's worthless. this is the part where it gets confusing and why i will never be a good forex trader.

I don't polish the silver coins I own. This is a sampling of the coins I found in my grandpa's attic after he passed on. They were wrapped in an old handkerchief of his tucked in a Crown Royale felt bag.

Some are Morgan Silver dollars dated from 1889-1921 and some very worn Indian Head nickels and Liberty Head dimes. I'm thinking they are from the 1920's. One day I'll take them to coin dealer and see if they can tell me the date and value. I still keep them in the same handkerchief, but the CR felt bag has disappeared.

i'm not quite sure what happed i just found them this way, but now there is 5 quarters: one 0.25 coin made of tin, four pieces of paper worth proportionately 5 dollars each, and an ounce of silver.

Re: TSP Talk Silver Coins / "Rounds"

now there is 9 quarters: 1 of tin, 4 of paper, and 4 of silver weighing approximately 1/4 ounce each. if you are hungry and chickens cost five dollars and the troll under the bridge is selling them for a quarter, which quarter do you think he will take?

where does true value lie? what is worth anything anymore? i don't know, but i can tell you this...

the heart does not need a compass to find its way. and an ounce of silver is always an ounce of silver no matter how many pieces it's in.

side notes:

for all the shiny collectors out there, your value just increased a little as there is now only 499 coins of 500 out there. you're welcome.

for all the ones who might find themselves in need of change, i recommend scoring it crossways with a few sharp blows on the backside, then knifing through it from an edge. otherwise you will spend all day beating the crap out of it and hurt yourself, and possibly those close to you.

and for all the lovers, don't give up. just let it shine.

that is all i know about currency, and matters of the heart. good luck.

True to your word.....you split one of your silver coins into 4....presumably to make change for the troll under the bridge! RMI should be very proud of you! :notworthy:

Got my coins on Presidents Day!! USPS 3-day service. (I didn't know they delivered on Holidays?!)
As said so many times, they are beautiful. The 1 oz. weight feels heavy in your hand.
But what I like best....the inscription that says ".999 Silver" !!!

I was the one that preferred the scored back... almost didn't get any because of that :)

you will notice that the reverse is subtly marked at the cardinal points for easy division. line up the hatchet/blade along these marks and give it one sharp smack with the hammer/butt of gun (unload and clear weapon first) to create a score line in each direction. no more than that, silver is malleable and will resist and absorb efforts of blunt force to break it in two all at once. it also will not break or snap along those score lines it will just bend. then line up edge of blade along edge of coin and gently and repeatedly tap. the tool will slice cleanly through along the lines. don't bash or pound or pound on it like a caveman, easy fellas. your silver will open up and spread apart and fall into pieces quicker than a prom queen after 3 beers at the homecoming bonfire. what you choose to do with it after that is up to you and the treasure.
