The Patio

Re: The Patio - and widows 8

.The most important thing regarding underwear is to keep everything contained, together and comfortable. This can avoid uncomfortable squirming when confronted with managers you don't now.

100% cotton is important too lest when your eyeballs, ears and limbs get burnt off in an unfortunate arc incident they can try to reconstruct what was in the shorts. Plus management will feel better since you were following protocols. So I think the pcmm is out.

PO

Excellent reminder, PO. Same exact reason firefighters always wear all-cotton under their Nomex. Gender-irrespective. all-cotton, all the time, when in firefighting mode.

Re: The Patio - and widows 8

When welding I always wear cotton, it doesn't melt and stick to your skin like most other materials.

NOAA’s Highest-Res Weather Forecast Yet Is Also Its Most Beautiful

HRRR-660x370.jpg

This image, made with NOAA’s newest weather model, shows ground temperature readings at a 2 mile resolution. Each pixel is shaded according to the temperature, ranging from 113 degrees F (the brightest yellow) to freezing (white). NOAA

This colorful map of ground temperature shows the tapestry of American weather on September 30. Undeniably beautiful, it owes its rich color gradient to a powerful new scientific tool for modeling the weather for incredibly small chunks of both time and space.

After five years of work, NOAA unveiled the new model, called High Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR), on September 30. Like its predecessor, HRRR will update every hour. But, HRRR fine tunes the forecast every 15 minutes by constantly digesting radar reports, so that the hourly update is as accurate as possible. Each forecast starts with a 3-D radar snapshot of the atmosphere that it modifies with data from NOAA’s vast network of weather stations, balloons, and satellites.

The added timeliness is important, but where the HRRR really shines is in its spatial resolution. While the previous model could only model the weather in 8-mile chunks, HRRR has a 2-mile spatial resolution. This is important because even a small front can contain dozens of individual storms. Forecasters will have the ability to read the weather on a neighborhood scale, rather than a city-wide scale.

This will let meteorologists and disaster-planners focus on localized weather threats, like tornadoes, hail, or whether that rain-laden thundercloud is going to pass over a neighborhood that’s prone to flooding, or one with better drainage. It could also lead to smoother flights by helping pilots and air traffic controllers get a more detailed picture of where turbulence occurs

Re: The Patio - and widows 8

You need to move to Hawaii. It's in the 80's 365 days of the year.
Only stopped there one time, when I was going PCS to a remote radar site off Okinawa in 1968, one year of BOREDOM, but we had a stop over in Hawaii and I had enough time to drink a rum drink in a coconut with a tiny umbrella in it, about an hour and I've never been back!:notrust:

Windows 8? It takes a while to get used to it, the learning curve is rather high and long!

Re: The Patio - and widows 8

Windows 8 is not for the weakminded. It is awesome at looking a LOT like the tablets and "pretty". However, my concerns on this version are:

1. Having a Microsoft account to make the most of windows. This is like calling Ford everyday to use your car. Where you're going and what you're doing. I also recommend not using a password here with any other accounts you may have.

2. Too much emphasis on style. I prefer functionaility versus "pretty"!

3. My PC is not a tablet.

4. NEW OS. I have yet to buy the hype of malware. I have been at this tooooo long to trust the "most secure" comments I see in reviews.

There are good things, shutdown and boot speed is phenomenal. 1/2 of Windows 7. I like the monitor options and video seems to play better on my 3D Hi Res monitors. Anyway....good luck, if you like it use it.....

Its not for me. Thanks.

Re: The Patio - and widows 8

Running Win 7 Premium...

Holding out to see what Windows 10 looks like...(next year release ?) I hear they're bringing back the "Start" menu :D

BTW...what happened to 9 ? I figure they don't want Google to get confused with Win 95 and Win 98...guess I'm showing my age...

Stoplight...

Re: The Patio - and widows 8

I upgraded to Win 8.1 and use IE 11 and it works well for me, it's just learning how to navigate. You can do it! I have a 64 bit Puter, no problem.

Re: The Patio - and widows 8

Apple's iOS 8 isn't getting great reviews either. I wonder if the number 8 has some bad vibes when it comes to software?

In numerology the number 8 stands for the pursuit of money and status .... both companies are getting the money, but not the status. :suspicious:
