Thanks so much, RealMoneyIssues, BC and Norm! The update is that the surgery did not go well. I'm scheduled to go to the Wasatch Front for corrective surgery next week. Fingers crossed that -- as burrocrat said -- third time is a charm!

Posting an update to thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts. My third back surgery in two months worked like a charm. I have two miniature Lego blocks sutured onto my spinal cord, each containing eight microchips. The microchips respond to two remote controls that I carry with me all the time. The remotes control an electrical charge that interferes with the pain signal. And it works well most of the time! I've cut my various pain meds by almost half in the last month.

It's good that I'm feeling this well because in the last week I've switched from patient to caregiver. My husband discovered that his thyroid, which is supposed to be the size of a walnut, was the size of a baseball and had grown from his football neck down into his chest cavity. So it was removed last Wednesday. Now we're just waiting for the pathology report.

As for the market, I was 100% in a 3x biotech mutual fund (BIPIX) but when it touched its 50 day moving average I cashed out about ten days or so ago. I'm working on something to do with the funds that isn't as hard to figure out as the markets. My crystal ball is getting overworked!
