Steadygain's Account Talk

I've had the feeling that fog is drifting over me in this whole saga. I'm working with an 8 year time line, am optimistic by nature and have faith that we'll recover from this but these past few weeks are testing my faith. I'm in L2020 and the itch to move to 100% G grows daily. A rebound to SP 1100 would make my choices easier so I"m in wait and see mode.

I know exactly how you feel, but hopefully one of these days we will look back and say, you remember the 2008 stock market and how scared we were. Now look, the S&P 500 is at 34.00 a share. Aren't you glad we stuck with it? Now I'm going to get my new boat and do some off-shore cruising. Woohoo!

I've had the feeling that fog is drifting over me in this whole saga. I'm working with an 8 year time line,

Well - FIRST - I'm honored to meet you and have ya stop by.

My friend in 8 years all this stuff will be a distant memory that counts for absolutely nothing. Instead of focusing on the day to day stuff (ohh my goodness...how much lower can we go??...I'm about to pee my pants) USE HISTORY as the guage and the YEARS that the Markets have been in BEAR & BULL Cycles.

In some ways this MB is the worst place to be :o because every where you turn and all you hear is based on the DAY to DAY stuff; and that will wreak havoc on your emotions. On an up day MANY will say "We're on the way up" (loud cheers) "the Bull is here" and the next week it drops lower and lower.

So dismiss it all - AT LEAST NOW FOR SURE - because we've gone past 30% and therefore it has to get better and IT WILL - but don't be in a hurry or you'll sell out of FEAR and that's a mistake.

Now the upside of this MB :) is the endless wealth of fantastic information (like XL-entLady's recent post in her home) and the genuine love and friendships growing all over the place.

sometimes it's fun to have an occasional fight too :worried:

am optimistic by nature and have faith that we'll recover

THEN LET THAT DOMINATE YOUR EXISTENCE - and refuse to let the general 'garbage' get you down. IT WILL RECOVER - the economy is NOT going to stop - life will go on and this is par for the course.

from this but these past few weeks are testing my faith.

That will happen by WATCHING THE MARKETS TOO CLOSELY and getting caught up in all the GARBAGE. This MB adds to that a great deal (as everyone is upset and we all need to vent and stuff).

I only recently decided to dismiss the entire Economic Situation in order to RESTORE MY FAITH - and you need to do the same. Faith will carry you through the tough times and the more you have the more none of this will get to you - its the most wonderful freedom imaginable - and the greatest certainity.

I'm in L2020 and the itch to move to 100% G grows daily. A rebound to SP 1100 would make my choices easier so I"m in wait and see mode.

The main problem with going 100% G - is that you're making that move out of FEAR and not out of FAITH. Also if you are 100% G then you will miss out on the inevitable swing back up. The Markets have to go back up - it may not be today or tomorrow - but THEY HAVE TO EVENTUALLY START AND CONTINUE IN AN UPWARD MOMENTUM. That is when all those in G Fund will have a hard time...because the longer you hesitate the more GAINS you lose.

God bless you my friend....

................................................and don't forget

..........THE SUN WILL COME OUT TOMORROW

Moved this to your house from another thread:

Hi Sweet One,
Sorry for butting in - but thought I'd just say hi.

Emily just got home from college yesterday and we talked about driving to WV this weekend to take in the beauty. That's an 11 hr drive one day and back the next.

We go to 'The Farm' - my Grandmother's house which is now about 175 years old. She passed away years ago and we use it as a retreat. It's in Muddley Valley - Nicolos County - not far from Summersville. 400 beautiful acres go with it. It's my favorite place on Earth.

Anyway - forgive me for interupting your conversation. Oddly enough when I gave up the Markets - the political stuff went with it so it's like I'm totally immune to everything.

Well have a great weekend - OH and GOOD JOB in the TSP!!

Steady,
Feel free to join into any of my conversations, anytime, for you are always welcomed.
Your Grandmother's farm sounds absolutely devine. Myself, I only have a little over 5 acres but it sits in the middle of about 40 acres of undeveloped land abdunant with trees and wildlife and my house faces the river. Totally different atmosphere from the hustle, busy highways, and gobs of people I deal with daily as I work close to Wash. DC. "Almost Heaven" is so appropriate. I can see why you would make the drive.

Thanks Steady. Have a great weekend.

Oh wow, Muddelty Creek, and Summersville lake bring back some good times and memories from our camping days. We’d drive up from Charleston and just spend the weekend hanging around the lake and driving around. I still had my 74 MGB then. Now if we want to camp, we just go out back on one of our 40 acres and no neighbors, just 12 short miles from work. We couldn’t be any luckier or graced.

I also spent alot of my college days in Summersville with a old frat brother, back when things like stocks and finance was a long way from my mind. Mainly just partying and getting thru Engineering school.

Ya’ll have a good weekend.

Didn't think anyone would have heard of Muddelty Creek.

There is a very small area called "Hookersville" nearby - but the signs for the community are a hot item and disappear; so it's been years since I've seen a sign. When I was a kid no one thought anything about it.

Muddelty Creek use to wind it's way through the valley of the Farm like a snake when I was a child. Coal temple up yonder filled the creek which led to widespread flooding. So the coal company dug a straight line right down the middle of the valley.

We have a bridge over the creek that goes to the house. The most famous spot is the Grand- daddy hole about a mile up the road; a spot in the creek where you can swim.

Summersville Lake has thousands of memories for me. I spent every summer at the Farm growing up; and though I was born and raised in Baltimore, MD - my heart and soul were always in WV and so I moved out there shortly out of high school. Looked all over for WV-girl (and found a few wonderful adventures) but couldn't find her so I went to a Bible College in Lancaster, PA to find God beyond the church service stuff then went straight to the Army to become a government operative; was hoping for the chance to toughen up Birch but couldn't find him.

You have a great one too... all ya'll out there.

There is a town in southern Utah named "Virgin." There are always tourists getting their pictures taken standing in front of the town's sign. :cheesy:

Have a good weekend my sparkling friend,
Lady

PEACE MY FRIENDS

Hey I just checked out a few threads... and now have to shake some of the vibes...but it's cool...I'm OK.

Listen everyone WE ARE IN FOR A LONG HAUL so I really don't care anymore. Hopefully this won't keep 98% from coming to my place but I really don't care about Wall Street, How much this person or that got, what banks are doing this or that...

because none of it makes any difference!

The more you get wrapped up in it the worse it gets and when you finally let it all go IT'S WONDERFUL.

So chill my friends...be cool...and simply let things ride.

There is an overwhelming 99.99999999% Probability that the Economy WILL REBOUND and not just for 1 or 2 days - but for months and months on end.

Stop watching the pot - and IT WILL BOIL.

Then free your mind - get in the groove - and I will cast a cloud in your direction - and you will come to the land of enchantment.

I thought you'd be on the road by now.....oh well, whatever you do, be safe, have fun, and stay in the groove!

Thank you my wonderful brother !!

I had 8 admissions today along with the typical stuff - so still have probably 10 to 15 charts to finish up on.

Thanks for stopping by. Give your wife and extra tender hug from me and let her know I love her and think about her quite a bit. I'm still longing for the day RSD will finally have a cure.

Have a wonderful weekend...this time I'm really leaving the site until Monday.:cool:

Steady,

I feel like Fred Astair - my feet won't be still. Do you know what the venturi effect is? That's the effect you get once the hedge funds start buying performance again - they pull along the rest. Don't be surprised if we get a V shape off this bottom. A Dow 936 point move was an 11% gain - a record move in point terms. That's got to mean something.

Well - only 2 more charts to go - PTL Jesus!!!!!!

Birch - you are the one exception - that is always free to talk the Market stuff any time you like.

It's mainly the horses*** I don't want to hear - you know the constant drip of garbage about what the FED and politicians are doing...this exec or that...and how much is being spent and all the other stuff...it justs goes on and on like a leaky pipe.

BUT YOU my friend - 'the eternal optimist' are always welcome to give your little speech. Of course it's all meaningless to me (no offense) because I don't care anymore. If we have an up day or a down day it's all the same to me.

I seriously doubt we'll see a real BULL for quite some time but I'm 100% invested so it makes no difference. I'll ride it out no matter how long it takes.

Luv ya Birch - have a great weekend...and don't get to high

Your gut says one thing but the brain knows better. You will ride the bull while many will miss this opportunity - that's exactly how it is supposed to work. The bull only wants to carry those few intelligent investors to wealth.
