Mamikin,
I went back to 2006 and couldn't find 'your thread' and I'm publicly making known the story my daughter recently requested.
So if you check out my recent posts you'll get a clue as to what I've decided on.
She'll come into many different worlds to learn the greater secrets of life that exist all around us. It's very similar to what Lady described today - in that a 3 dimensional world limits our thinking and understanding so that we are convinced 'that's all there is'. But Einstein proved the 4th dimension and there are many more beyond that.
One of my favorites - was the realization that animals and people have way more in common than we've dreamed or imagined. And in the dimension where you and I traveled - we became hawks and tamed the deer - and Carrie will come to know this as well - and in the end she'll hopefully appreciate everything a little more deeply.

On the Economic Side - The more strongly the Powers unite in an effort to turn things around the more we should realize that things were/are pretty bad.
Surprisingly - I believe Birch's message of the economy somehow taking off 6 months ahead of schedule is likely true. Bush will use this for the greatest possible political leverage (as the news is now projecting how "he" will spend some of the $700 Billion).
Right now I pretty much see our country where we were back in Johnson's day - with the Vietnam War. If McCain wins he will likely minic Nixon (the war will escalate, the country will undergo increasing strains, and world relations will sour). If Obama wins then I see the oposite scenario taking place over the short term and the economy taking off. But I don't know and no one really can know. Most of the experts tend to believe it will take a year to sift through the garbage and over come the crisis.

Steady, Good luck on the story. I hope you put together a fantastic plot. Maybe you can use L2R in an FBI/political role. She always seemed to find the "points" of all the underlying issues.
Amazingly - I kept trying to come up with characters for the ones I know better and L2R - is a "busy Beaver" always on the go...scanning though hundreds of articles for tib bits, driving bargains down with a frown and walking away with a huge smile, and holding down the fort...but her secrets to the animal world are huge.

So true, Frixxxx! In the same way that Steady is our troubadour and Silverbird is our poet laureate, L2R is our electrical ground and filters out the noise for us. And we miss her and hope she comes back soon.

Well folks I have to admit the DIVING MARKETS are getting old.
If I'd read Ben's comment's about the Markets taking awhile to recover even in the best case senario early this moring......

I would have gone into G Fund
For me it's how much are you willing to lose, or how long are you willing to stay in Markets that have little to no chance of recovery over the short term.
So it's anyone's guess...but I'll hope for a good day tomorrow and likely go in safety soon. In the LONG RUN none of this makes any difference but I'm at a stopping point at far as losses go.

Like Birchtree - Once I form a strong view on something - Hell will break loose given the opportunity. So the first thing I read about are the crooks responsible for this mess.
I do believe we have been long overdue for the BEAR - but I can't shake my resentment for those responsible; knowing they've been largely rewarded.
So while steam is still rolling off - I misread another post and acted like an idiot.

Well as for the TSP Stuff - I feel like I've been lowered into a deep well with handcuffs securely in place. So all I can do now is stay in the water and wait for it to float back up.....
In the end - I'll probably follow someone that I have a deep sense of trust for and that has done well over the long run. But for now I have no choice but to stay in the game.

Incredibly enough - I'm doing good in other investments.
If I can withdrawn from a retirement account 'tax-free' - I'll probably take $10,000 and find a few good stocks -because I don't think I'll ever get the opportunity to take it 'Tax-Free' again; and it is very rare to buy at these prices.

Well my friends I've got a busy day ahead. Six admissions needing a full blown workup and 95% of what I do is out-patient stuff.
I have now decided that 'I do not know what to believe' regarding the entire economic picture. Initially I was convinced it mainly boiled down to a particular group of individuals and the more I focused on them - the more the evidence stacked against them. But it is all beyond me and all I can do is wait for it to run its course.
We can focus on what Bush is saying...on what Ben is saying...or what Hank is saying...but nothing they say or do is going to make the course run any faster. At the very best - their attempts will simply keep things from plunging deeper.
So my advise - for your peace of mind - DO NOT LOOK FOR THE BULL, BUT TAKE A BREAK AND WAIT FOR IT. IF YOU BELIEVE IN THE ENDURING STRENGTH OF OUR ECONOMY THEN THIS IS A VERY GOOD TIME TO BUY AND KEEP BUYING. THEN SIT BACK AND SIMPLY DRIFT BUT DO NOT GET EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED TO THE DAY TO DAY MARKETS.

Thanks Steady. You have a unique way of calming fears. I am sitting in 100% stocks with 12 years to retirement, praying I don't have to post-pone my retirement because of my ignorance of what is really happening in the markets.

I don't want to give TOO MUCH away...
....but in my story to come I enter a world where FOG is sailing over the water and we (the main characters) drift with it as the most beautiful musical notes become tantillizing clearer and then we join with FOG SAILING....as a result of what transpires...music fills the atmosphere and calls out WIND HUNTER...

I've had the feeling that fog is drifting over me in this whole saga. I'm working with an 8 year time line, am optimistic by nature and have faith that we'll recover from this but these past few weeks are testing my faith. I'm in L2020 and the itch to move to 100% G grows daily. A rebound to SP 1100 would make my choices easier so I"m in wait and see mode.
