Steadygain's Account Talk

That's great Steady. Music is one of those joys that transcends us. When I'm in the groove playing music, I'm pretty certain I'm as Zen as a buddhist monk. What a great life..Thanks for sharing your experience..:D:D:D

Hey Fog & Steady,

Thinking about purchasing a Breedlove acoustic (Pro series). Played one the other day and fell in love with it. Tone and workmanship is as nice as Taylor but alot less money. Check it out.

OK if I chip in on this conversation? I tried out a Breedlove 3 years ago, thought about the cost of upgrade for a year, finally went for it last year. AD20/SM. I love it, but haven't been able to play practically since I bought it. started having major tendonitis problems in both hands, esp. left hand about the same time as purchase. Keeps recurring in various fingers, surgeon is waiting for me, I'm putting off til next year due to cash flow issues for copay.

I look forward to the time when I can play again. My thing is Old-Time Fiddle backup. When a fiddle group gets into the groove, it's magic. :D

Hope your tendonitis gets better. can't imagine not being able to play on a regular basis. I'll have to checkout the AD20/SM. I think I want the concert model, smaller, thinner body. I have a Tacoma dreadnought that I really like but not near as easy to play as the Breedlove.

My main acoustic is a 40s handmade Epiphone Blackstone; Blonde.
Maple back is beautiful. I've never played a guitar with better neck action. Took it to a shop 13 years ago to have the neck straightened after a few notes lost their clarity and as soon as the owners saw the guitar they told me I could take any guitar in their shop and walk out and they'd call it an even deal. Some were over $4,500.

90% of all my acoustic songs came into being with that guitar so I wouldn't sell. Also have a Gibson Humming bird that rarely is ever touched.

That's really too bad about the tendonitis - especially both hands.

There's an annual Fiddler's Reunion in Virginia - you would really enjoy. My youngest daughter plays (violin) but songs you've probably never heard of like: Orange Blossum Special; Foggy Mountain Breakdown...

Then again the Wildwood Flower was one of the first songs I played on guitar.... oh the memories...;):):)

A guitar is only as good as the guitarist - and usually I'd not recommend spending the money on a more Professional Series.

But you're obviously one of the better guitarist's around. From what you shared before - you have a wide range of skills and play fairly often and it's something you really enjoy. Plus you've got a "music room" to boot. So I'd say as long as it's money to blow - go for it. I bet you'd enjoy it as much as I enjoy the Epiphone and in time it will be the only one you mess with.

But at some point when the TSP group has it's super BULL celebration on the ship (or at the music room) then you'll use your son's Ax along with my Flying V and we'll take everyone to outer space.

Your right steady, the guitar is only as good as the guitarist, but a beautiful sounding instrument can inspire one to play more. And when you have a guitar you absolutely love, you don't want to put it down. And I can't acheive the level I strive for without numerous hours of JUST ME AND MY GUITAR and let me tell you, I'm not even close to that level yet and may not ever acheive that level. OH Yeah! Can't wait for the world cruise and to be able to play with you, Fogsailor, Alevin, Nnutt, and other musicians from the MB.

Steady, been playing folk music since early 70s in Virginia, learned the difference between bluegrass and country in that timeframe, location. Always enjoy listening to OBS/FMB, never played bluegrass-which those songs are, but I did start learning to clog-oh about '75 at a bg festival in WV. ;)

Didn't learn about OTF music til the late 80's out when I started playing with a local group way out here. I enjoy OTF WAY better than bluegrass for playing and listening, but folk then bluegrass come next in my guitar player's heart. :)

Well that definately qualifies you for the August Hug and Kiss Award which is either secretly (or openly attached to the next 100 posts on the MB.

Personally I like transparency and openess: so O and X

Due to confort zones, hygeine, health and safety only one Hug and Kiss may be expressed to a member of the MB for each award. Maximum of ONE per year.

Now THAT's what I'm here for! Who needs $ when you can have Xs and Os? Where's Tony? :cheesy: Got to pass the good things along, don't cha know?

Thanks Buster !! I got a good chuckle out of this one.

You would get the super cool dude award

BTW - It may sound a little selfish, may even cold hearted; but I kind of enjoy watching I and F Funds diving underground and S Fund desperately trying to break through....

while you and I enjoy the sunshine.

Thanks Steady my friend..I thought of you going home last night..the station I listen to was playing back to back Hendrix songs...Did you know "along the watch tower" was written by Bob Dylan and was about John Wesley Harding lacking traditional sense of time..very cool:cool:

What a great set of posts. I get to hear from my old friend WH (I heard Breedlove's sounded nice too WH), great fun from Steady what with all those X's and O's, some interesting interpretation of X/O's from alevin and Buster , learned Alevin plays (excellent and very cool), and learned a new term for an old guy (OTF), and i only lost a few bucks today..All in all this MB is great.:D:D:D
