Thanks SB,

That does sound optimistic, but I'll withhold any hope until I actually see it happen, but the one thing about it, if it puts money in barclay's pockets, then smart money would bet it's a done deal.

Thanks for making the effort. :D

I don't trust them, do you? Watch out for the price they want for an IFT! What do you think 1% of the amount transfered?

Divide that by 1000 and then it'll be in my ballpark. I've been in TSP to long to pay a couple of $3K for a full 100% move from one fund to another.

We all remember when they were making the stupid decision on IFTs! They were estimating the costs of an IFT based on how much other financials were charging, but they only loooked at the most expensive ones!! I've got to take another look at that, I'm sure the info is on the MB!:o

Hey SB,

Been in the dark. Power went out Sunday. Bought a generator yesterday to save the food in the freezer but no internet or cable. All I can say is WAH!!!! Northeast Ohio got hit pretty hard with the winds from Ike. Was listening to the financial news over the weekend hoping Lehman Brothers would be good news. Oh well! :( Had to come up to the local library to catch up on how bad I did. :D They are saying it may be the weekend befor everything is up and running. So I am going to stay the coarse I hope for some relief. The Dark Side will not change my faith.

If you do not have power, DO NOT I repeat DO NOT use candles. A co-worker of my duaghter that lives down the street from us lost her house last night because of a burning candle. The feeling of not be able to do anything really hits hard. We where down the street before the fire department got there. The only thing she saved was her car. Fortunately both her and her son are fine. I guess my point is that everyone on this MB should enjoy every minute with friends and family because you do not know when something tragic will happen.

Got to go my time is ready to expire on this computer.

May the force be with us.

IFT TODAY: 26%(F) 74%(G)

Down side risk is greater then upside benefit short term.
I'll be back to catch up on reading my thread in just a moment. :)

Based on past failures, it would be foolish to kid ourselves that this is a
done deal. Hope springs eternal and we should expect the worse, but
hope for the best. IMHO, Barclays pockets are as empty as the next
large Investment Firm. Not to say that they are not making moves to
gain from the losses within the US Financial Sector. Only the strong
survive in that cut-throat world.

Awesome, squalebear. I'm looking forward to seeing if he wrote your work email.
Maybe I can get a co-worker to forward it to me sometime today !

No doubt Norm, the goal is still the same. To limit the flow of IFT's.
1% may be a bit extreme, however, I'd put nothing past them !

Lets not get ahead of ourselves too much. What ever the cost, IF this
should happen, will be pricey and utilized as a deterant from going back
to the amount of IFT's participants made in the past.

I wonder how many of those big companies are facing dire straights now.
A secondary look will not likely happen until the Financial Sector becomes
stable. By then, even the cheapest company will be pricey out of need.

If you do not have power, DO NOT I repeat DO NOT use candles. A co-worker of my daughter that lives down the street from us lost her house last night because of a burning candle.

One of my best friends at work (Lieutenant) lost his home and pets to a
candle related fire a couple weeks ago. He almost lost his wife as well.
We're holding a benefit and many who care have reached out to help
during their time in need. Sound advise Nasa ! Thank goodness is wasn't
worse and they have the necessary support.

One of my 2 IRA mutual fund companies charges 2% if transfer out of an account sooner than 180 days, the other charges 2% if transfer out sooner than 90 days. If this goes through, expect something similar.

Yeesh!! I'd be talking a $5K+ charge then! That's one way of making sure I only did my 2 IFT's a month! :notrust:

SB,
I'd never tell you (or anyone else) where you should put your money.

But I'm glad you made this decision. GL my friend.

:oFor me, we're only talkin' $60-500, but considering already lost 20-40% this year, what's another 2%? I've been too busy paying off my house the past several years to be putting any new blood into Roths or IRAs. Now, just when I'm ready to pump new blood, they're calling for CPR. Hmm.:worried: Just waiting til Sept 18 to put some into Treasury MM-soonest I can move a good chunk w/o the 2% hit.

Wow everyone, thanks for the heads up. I had very little experience in
the way of Transfer Fees outside the TSP. Even if I wanted to go 100%
to the (F) several days ago and be willing to pay a fee to do so, the cost
would prohibit me. Thanks to everyone for "learning" me.

Steady, I saw your move and your thoughts behind it, a couple days ago.
Well done my friend. I know you never tell anyone where they should put
there money, but your opinions and thoughts of the Market/Moves are of
great value. Thank you for sharing them with us. They truly carry weight.

AGG which reflects the (F) Fund is closing down around -1.01%
It'll be interesting to see how thats reflected in the TSP tonight.
