FogSailing,
No problem, ask anything. It's why we are here. IMHO, beings you are retired you need to minimize your risk while maintaining small gains to offset inflation. Nothing worse than being retired and losing some of you nest egg. The L Income fund may be better suited for you.

Savings rate.

I got to watch my son practice ball and Hero's is over. Now on to the ED. Was reading an article and they has some major concerns on the weak spending. Also the savings rate did improve while staying in negative territory. It went from -1.2% to -0.8%. Not bad! The working folks may be realizing that the economy is getting weak and that we need to put some money away for a rainy day. Quit spending it as fast as we make it and in some cases faster than we make it.

I need some sleep and to look at charts. See ya in the morning. :)

Something to chew on.

OK! What does it all mean. I missed a good rally from the double bottom that my friend Spaf pointed out to me. It also means that all equity funds except the $SPX/C fund have had bearish moving average crossovers and are overextended. The kicker is the USD is very oversold and need to come up for air, which is hard on the I funders.

IMHO, I've missed this much. What is a little more sitting on the sideline going to hurt?

Was reading the Stock Traders Almanac.
RECENT RECORD: S&P 4 up, 5 down, average -0.1% loss, ranked eighth.
May seems to be a good "gone fishing" month!...........:cheesy:

Lets see: boat, license, taxes, gear, gas.. divided by.. fish actually caught = 1,000 dollars a pound...

I caught the world's largest bass!

Was fishing in Lake Belton.
Over a section that was formerly a car junk yard.
About 4 feet deep, over the top of the cars.
I hooked this lunker of a bass!
We fought for hours!
He tired and went inside a car.
I reached down to pull him out.
%$# rolled the window up on me!.....:(

I didn't realize you could noodle for bass, I thought that was only for catfish. You see, I learn something new every day by being part of this microcosm.

Never heard it called "noodling" until I left Missouri. No rope, no hook, no fear! Just a gunny sack, your hand and a buddy to stand on your back to hold ya down in a log jam. I remember one day we walked up on a snag hanging out over the water. As we got closer about a dozen snakes dropped off the limbs into the water. That day I learned why you work the river from up stream to down stream. A lot of adrenalin flow at that point.

Happy to be G! Trader Fred has done well so far. *tip hat* From the charts all stock fund components are overbought and the USD is oversold. I actually feel good about being out of the market this morning no matter what happens.

Good luck and good day!

Good luck to all too! I am glad I'm in the F fund and not in the more extended stock funds. Soon going to G though. Have a great day.

It's all fun and games, when you're floatin' down the river, until a couple water mocs drop out of the low hanging branches right into your canoe!!!
Know all about that kind of adrenaline rush, fight or flight response, and Shi*%#@* your pants!!! LOL

Have you seen the Dirty Jobs show? They did an episode about noodlin for catfish with a couple of guys in Alabama. They did a pretty good job showing the mindset of people who choose to use their arms as bait---let alone how dirty the job is.

Check it out if you havent seen it. Worth the few minutes watching for a few good laughs...

I was canoeing on Saturday with my 7 year old son and saw one in the water about 3 feet away. Fortunately, he was trying to catch a fish a couple of feet down and completely ignored us. I made sure we stayed away from the trees.

Love Dirty Jobs! That guy is NUTS! Just so ya know I gave up "noodling" many years ago. It was and I believe still is illegal in Missouri. Still love to jug fish.:D

Factory orders, what factories do we have in the US?

The "factory orders" number is not exciting me much. I just do not get that a "minor" piece of ED, that is rated "D+", got the market so excited. The DOW bid may have fueled that or the market is so desperate for good news it took a "D+" piece of ED and rallied behind it. If that is true, a exit yesterday would have been good. Sell the strength even if it is false strength.

IMO, today will be a weak day due to the big false rally yesterday and the very important "jobs numbers" tomorrow. Just to give you a idea how my week is going I thought today was Friday. Arghh! :embarrest: :notrust: :( Calgon take me away!
