Rod's Account Talk

Really looking at what that (C) is going to be doing now that it has broken out. So far, this week has been quite impressive. A definite change from the past couple weeks of choppy action... UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN.

I'm hesitant to exit (G) because I will be going TDY this week until May 17 and will have my time consumed with very limited internet access.
If I take the plunge, I want to be able to keep a keen eye on what is going on. I just may have to wait until after my return, OR make a very conservative short-term IFT. I'll be giving that some thought before I leave.

God Bless:)

I beat the S&P 500 for the 1st quarter. No big deal, but it's the benchmark.

I congratulated the TSPtalkers in a recent post because a good number were beating the benchmark S&P, something that is supposedly so difficult to do. On the down side, I don't think any of us are beating the S or the I. I set out each year to beat all three. I have had to "settle" the last few years for beating the C. That I fund is going to be difficult to catch once again this year, especially if the dang thing doesn't ever go down again.

I tried finding what the Wilshire 4500 has done for the 1st quarter... why does that have to be so difficult to find??? If anyone has a link, PLEASE provide it.

Anyways, according to the the most recent weekly tracker, the (S) is @ 9.71% and the (I) is @ 9.38%.

If we are gauging by the performance of the S & I funds, Namor isn't too far behind at 8.82%. Phragmanic is closely trailing him at 8.18% followed by Andy @ 8.13%.

Of course, all of these figures were as of the last tracker. So, they may be different now.

There was discussion about this below under the S fund topic below, it shows as a thread called historical data for the Wilshire 4500.

Yeah, I have no problem locating historical data. But I can't find any specific performance reports on what the W4500 did for the 1st quarter.

Thank you.:)

Hey Rod: Check out this link-http://www.wilshire.com/Indexes/calculator/
Looks like a pretty good breakdown of that Index.

Nice to see the market taking a nosedive, especially the S&P 500.

I sold (C) @ 14.20 on 15 Mar.

Hopefully it will soon be near the previous low of 14.10. Might be what I've been waiting for...

God Bless:)

Hello Folks,

In case you're wondering, I haven't been active lately because I remain extremely busy at the NCO Academy. For those of you who have attended, you know where I'm coming from. I hope to jump aboard again after I graduate on May 17th. I may entertain an IFT into (C) before then.

God Bless:)

busy... busy... busy...

Good day today, but not enough time in the day for me to consistently "play" the trading game, but I wish you all the best.

I'll be making my $$$ come Oct.;)

See you on the "trading floor" after May 18th...

God Bless:)

Then where does it go?

On and upward to 12,400 or down and dirty to 10,400? My money says on and upward and I don't care how high it goes - just as long as I'm participating. And I guess I'm a buy and holder all the way for the present time.

Hi folks, long time no "see". I'm still at the NCO Academy with a grad date of Wednesday. I was rather excited to see the drop in the market today. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? If it brings more blood, looks like it could lead to a good buy-in for the (S). The Naz hasn't been this low since mid-March.

I'll be interested to see what the trade balance report brings tomorrow.

God Bless:)

Hiya Rod, congrats on the graduation! Learn anything?

Thanx Mike!

I'll be graduating on Wednesday.

I learned how much I've missed actively managing my TSP!:D

Simply didn't have the opportunity to do so. Looks like I may be coming back on board at just the right time.

Well... well... well

Don't have much to say after today's surprising action. I guess I'll just stick it out and see what happens.

What goes down MUST go UP.

God Bless:)

Funny... I was just thinking that if I just would have stayed in (G) until after I graduated from the academy I would have saved that 3% hit to my account. Ever since I've been back in I've taken a loss each day. Funny how that seems to work out sometimes. So, what to do now? I guarantee that if I were to run for shelter, I'd miss out on some gains. It might be painful, but I'm staying put for the long run.

And to think, I could now be beating the S&P 500 by 4%...:p
Oh well, last year at this time I was at -2.18%. I came out on top of my account during Oct-Dec. The trading year ain't over yet!;)

God Bless:)
