My aunt says the I-fund should close today at $18.18 (down 4 cents).
We're spinning all four 39" TSL's, and chuckin' all kinza I-Bog through the air! Tell yur Aunt it'sa gonna get pretty sloppy on shore, Greg!
The Flowmasters be screamin' baby.:D

Let's see if I can do better than Greg's aunt :)
The EAFE index is up 0.125% today and I-fund should get 2 cents plus some fair valuation adjustment. Correct???

But how much is the fair valuation adjustment? My guess is 15 cents.. :)

MSCI says up 2 cents to 18.24. Seems like a good day for a fair valuation adjustment though since our markets did so well, with at least some of it coming after the foreign markets closed. We'll see.

15c brings us "Power I" allocators up to a (1.66) for February. Still lotsa time left to turn this yacht around.

Wow, nice guess. Now I'm glad I didn't get into the I fund for tomorrow as it now "owes" 13 cents.

I think the move (both $ and ISHARES MSCI EAFE) happened late enough that it did not show up in MSCI but will have an effect tommorrow. I think that you are right that the fund "owes" but MSCI also has some "catch-up" to what happened this afternoon.

Now the board says they make these fair valuations to keep people from trying to time the funds. If they hadn't made this change how could you have moved and taken advantage of it? You would not be able to make a move till COB tommorrow when the numbers would have caught up.

The way I see it they actually make it easier to time. Say the market does well overseas prior to US open and then Dives when the US opens. If you see that and make a move out, you could possibly avoid the loss if the TSP board doesn't take that into account. (This actually happened in January. I bought into the market anticipating that the board would correct and I'd possibly catch a bounce. I ended up getting whacked because the loss was applied the next day AFTER I was already in. )

I wouldn't mind the fair valuation if they were consistant about it.

Aren't they one in the same?

Isn't being consistant about when they "fair evaluate" and being on time one in the same?

And my Uncle says that my Cousin says his son told him that Gregs Aunt said the I-Fund should close @ $18.33. :D

MSCI says I fund up maybe 1 cent (or less) today. Ahh but the I fund still owes 13 cents. If they take it all back today the I fund will be down 12 cents, maybe 13 to 18.25 or 18.24.

They

are stealing from the I fund returns to pay the G fund gains and to absorb the F fund losses....C and S are just left hanging....not enough money to get them all......:D
