To all that had the courage to be in the F fund starting in November you have seen about a 78 cent profit per share so far. Nice job. Other than G the F fund is the only one to see a profit for the year. Attached are the current monthly profit/loss numbers.

Yes, thanks for posting it, Kevin. And Nasa, my friend, thanks for developing it! What a great workbook! :cool:

I've downloaded it and it appears to be straightforward at first glance. Let's see if I have it right. You just insert the share price information each day - - manually, I'm assuming, because those cells were blank except for the example. (Manual insertion works for me, too, because my computer's Vista operating system tries to "protect" me anytime I try to download a linked spreadsheet - - locks things up good. :rolleyes:) And then you insert the number of shares you have to start with and copy them down, and change the number of shares anytime you trade between funds. Or add shares, for those people still contributing. And the rest of the spreadsheets populate themselves based on the share number and price information, right?

How did I do, Nasa? Is that about it? My sincere thanks! :cool:

Has anyone noticed how quite the FRTIB has been lately. When the group of members where making money in late 2007 and Barclays almost tanked they where very vocal and had a lot of print. :mad: Now we are loosing money and all they can say is "buy and hold".:sick: Maybe they are afraid to say much now that their jobs are on the line.:laugh: We can only hope for a new cast that will be supportive of its members.:rolleyes:
 
What a week. Tuesday proved to be a good day with a little give back Wednesday. Thursday however resulted in giving back almost half of what I gained Tuesday. :mad:
Now everyone is talking about a Santa Rally next week. If there is one and I regain what I lost on Thursday I am back into G and sitting on the lilly pad until January "09". Unfortunately I wll be looking at 15 to 20 percent less in my account starting in 2009.
The way things are going it will most likely take me two years to recover. That will leave me two years to try and shore up my TSP for retirement. Yep, I made up my mind, I am planning a 2012 getting out party. 60 years of age and 41+ years with the government (Air Force 3.5 years and the rest NASA) :nuts:. What a ride. :D:D

The Market will start to recover 9 months before the common NASA dudes
will ever notice. That leaves you with 2.75 years to recover and 1.25 yrs.
to shore up you account for retirement. I imagined you much younger. Then
again, I look in the mirror these days and imagine myself alot younger too.

Hi my friend. Congratulations on your retirement plans! Are your FERS or CSRS? I hope you'll find that this MB is even more important to you in a few years as you manage your retirement TSP funds. That's been my experience, anyway.

Lady I am CSRS. My intent is to use my TSP as the mad money account. :cheesy: Do the little extras once in awhile. Unfortunately I ignored my account for too long and now I am trying to play catch up.:(

Thanks SB, My mirror lies also. :D I truly do not feel my age, yet.:D But I do remind myself to take it slower, just in case.:laugh:
 
When are you thinking of jumping back in? Tom's data today seems to argue that the day before Christmas is risky while the day after has good odds. Like you, I am sitting in G, thinking about all in for Friday and letting it ride next week. Problem is that everything is driven by news, unpredictable but lately usually bad. What's your play going to be, if I might ask?
