nasa1974's Account Talk

Took the day off from work. Going to play some golf.

Then the fun begins. I need to move the leaves around my back yard so I can find the doggy pooh and then cut the grass.:D:D I have to work my second job this weekend so I will not be able to do any yard work. :(

Hope the I fund doesn't give back too much today. Asia looks good but Europe is selling off early. Lets hope the US market steadies and doesn't have a big sell off today. May take some more off the board later. Still feels like the market may find a new low before 2009. Good luck to all still in the market.

The FRTIB finally posted their meeting minutes from September. They met September 15th. Gee! Only a month and a half to get out their minutes.

Here is the link to the meeting minutes; http://www.frtib.gov/pdf/minutes/2008sep.pdf

Below are the links to the attachments to the minutes.

This is from the FRTIB September meeting minutes. In my opinion it shows how out of touch some of the board members are.

"Trading volumes are down substantially compared to last year. For example, $889 billion was traded in the F Fund in August of 2007 compared to only $271 billion in August of 2008. Mr. Sanchez asked whether these decreases were due to the Agency's efforts to educate participants that they should invest for the long term. Ms. Ray stated that she viewed it as primarily due to the interfund transfer restrictions the agency implemented this year."

Hello!!! DUH!!!!

So does the board really know what is going on out here?

WOW!! What a week. Started 100% I Fund and turned a nice profit. Thank you SB. Gave some of it back middle of the week. But today the market fooled everyone. I'll take it.:D COB today I am 80G, 5F, 5C, 5S and 5I.

The market is so unpredictable you almost have to keep a couple of toes in the water just in case. With 2 IFT's and a 12 noon cutoff it is almost like throwing darts at the dartboard with a blindfold on.

The market really is hurting. Panic seems to be the way right now. Hard to even call it a Bear Market. Will be out of town for a few days. Hope to get to a computer once in awhile. Still sitting 80G/5F/5C/5S/5I. Good luck to all.

Today appears that we could see a positive close. But nothing is etched
in stone. Should this look the same at 11:45am, I will NOT do a <1% IFT.
If I did, the number of shares I have in the risk funds would decrease and
so to would the amount of dollars I have in each fund. In any case, after
doing this for a while, I'm going to check my data and evaluate this further.
Then again, the US Market just went negative. Rollercoaster !
Good Luck My Friend.

Well we started out green this morninig. Just doesn't make the way the funds are bouncing around. Some great bargins out there and it still looks like fear and panic rules. All I can say is good luck to all today. Hope we can make some MONEY!!! :D

Oops! Just saw that I left out the word "sense" from the second sentance. OH WELL!!

What is it about the S fund:confused::confused::confused:

Everyone have a good day.

WOW!!! Talk about a turnaround in the market. The market looked as if it would have a slight rally to even a red day and news coming out of the Obama camp has taken the market up the ladder.

Here is just one of many articles.

"WASHINGTON, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Timothy Geithner, the president of the New York Federal Reserve Bank and a time-tested crisis manager, is expected to be tapped by President-elect Barack Obama to head the U.S. Treasury, NBC News and the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday."

Any rally is a good rally.

Good luck to all.

Yes it's nice to end on a positive note.:)

Congratulations to all that took a chance and jumped into the market the last few days. Some great profit has been had.
Would be nice if the market continues to stay green today. But it would not surprise me that there will be some selloff today. Not sure what I want to do, stay put or pull back to G.:confused:

TSP holds steady amid economic downturn
By Alyssa Rosenberg arosenberg@govexec.com November 24, 2008

... "While the board and staff are confident they are safeguarding participants' investments to the best of their ability, they are still bracing themselves for negative reviews on a survey given to 35,000 federal employees and military members on Nov. 14. Survey responses are due by Nov. 16.
"Even if our services are better in every conceivable way, there's the reality that if your account is down 10 percent or 15 percent, than you're likely to be dissatisfied," Long said. "I don't know how we're going to correct for that."" I know how to correct for that. Give us additional IFT's.

I would be very interested to find out if anyone active on this MB have received a survey or had an office mate that got one. I am guessing that since the dates have already passed that no one has seen a copy of the suvey.:notrust::rolleyes: Just a hunch.

I wonder if they bothered posting the comments I made yesterday.
I'll be checking it soon, thanks for the info my young padawon. ;)

OOOPS ! THEY DID ! MOSES REFERENCES DOCUMENTED ! (LOL)

Well I pulled everything back into G this morning. Just not sure how today, Wednesday and Friday will play out. Might as well lock in some profits. I missed the opportunity to save the 6.8% profit earlier this month and used up all my IFT's when the market jumped on the 21st. Good move to those that waited.
Just another what if. Wouldn't it be nice if the FRTIB could enhance the software to give us this scenerio: 1st IFT any kind of move to any fund, then if you move 100% into G it would not count as an IFT (but it would have to be 100% into G), then you could use your 2nd IFT to move back into the funds. After this 2nd IFT the only move you would have is back to G and the famous <1% move. No more IFT's for the month. Just a thought.
Gee, I wonder if the FRTIB still reads our E-mails? They might like this idea.

They trash the emails and read our threads. They don't care to change
anything which would promote trading. Buy & Hold is their "insidious"
plan to care for the 99.9% that have lost over 40% of their portfolios.

Well the market may have surprised everybody today. Anyway!! Good profits for all that stayed put today. If you haven't moved to G I wish all of you luck.

This is a day early but I would like to wish everyone a HAPPY THANKSGIVING. I hope you can spend it with family and friends. The very best to all.

This is what I am going to ask Santa.

I wish the FRTIB would loosen the strings a little bit and give us at least 2 more IFT's for the next couple of months or at least make the cut off time closer to 4pm EST. Then we might be able to get our TSP's back into the green.:)

Wouldn't one of these or both of these be a nice Christmas present for all TSP'ers from "The grinches that stole the IFT" Maybe the FRTIB would find that their hearts grew 3 times larger that day.:D
