nasa1974's Account Talk

Let's hope the tariffs that China just slapped on the US is just to save face and doesn't get any worse. Tariffs on $3B worth of goods isn't a big deal. Hopefully it doesn't affect the market much. American growers, producers and companies won't be happy.

Is the cost of sticky pants deductible? The way the market is going I'll spend more on sticky pants then health insurance.

What Warren Buffett says to do when the market tanks

"Don't watch the market closely," he advised those worried about their retirement savings at the time. "If they're trying to buy and sell stocks, and worry when they go down a little bit … and think they should maybe sell them when they go up, they're not going to have very good results."

Market volatility is reminiscent of the 1987 crash: Veteran trader Art Cashin

"UBS (UBSG-CH) Financial Services Managing Director Art Cashin said this year's market volatility reminds him of the 1987 stock market crash.

"It's a good deal more volatile than almost anything else you've seen," said Cashin, who began his career at Thomson McKinnon in 1959. "It is unfortunately reminiscent of some of the volatility we saw in '87," he said Thursday on CNBC's "Closing Bell."

Both the Dow and S&P have fallen into correction territory this year. At its low, the Dow was down 12 percent from January highs. The S&P is still down 7 percent from its January highs.

"It's been a bumpy road," Cashin said."

GOP senator on tariff threat: Hopefully Trump is blowing off steam because ?this is nuts?

"Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) slammed President Trump's announcement Thursday that he was considering imposing $100 billion in tariffs on China amid the ongoing trade dispute between Washington and Beijing, calling it nuts and dumb.

"Hopefully the President is just blowing off steam again but, if he's even half-serious, this is nuts. China is guilty of many things, but the President has no actual plan to win right now," Sasse said in a statement.

"He's threatening to light American agriculture on fire. Let's absolutely take on Chinese bad behavior, but with a plan that punishes them instead of us. This is the dumbest possible way to do this," he continued."

I think it was Gilligan's Island where they ate some sort of berry that let them hear everyone else's thoughts. Funny episode, certainly highlights the folly of such a device. Kind of imposes on the 5th Amendment, you think?

If they come up with a device that will let someone else hear my thoughts, we are in trouble.

Sticky pants still on and got a strong grip on the safety bar. All this up and down is starting to give me motion sickness. Anyone spare a Dramamine patch?

So! If you have about $9.5M burning a hole in your pocket, maybe you could reserve this for your next vacation in the foreseeable future.
