MrJohnRoss' Account Talk

Been very busy at work, so not much time for chatting on TSPTalk lately. :(

Here's one of the projects I've been working on...

Looks like Mr. $VIX has lost his desire to slumber any longer. He seems to be climbing out of his hibernation, and is looking around, perhaps for a bull to feast on.

Keep your eye on this guy, he might eat up your profits. Since he's stretching the upper bollinger band, I would say that he is likely to head down in the short term, but the longer term trend is clearly higher.

With the price of precious metals falling, I may tiptoe into this 3X Silver ETF when it bottoms soon. Eventually all this bogus Fed money printing is going to make our paper dollars worthless, and send gold/silver to the moon. When it does, this fella is gonna skyrocket. Mark my words....

AGQ now at $37.95. I told myself months ago that if it got below $40, I would buy aggressively. As it falls day after day, I know there will be a bottom soon, and a relief rally, followed by a re-test of the bottom. Patience. Like a leopard watching his prey... Hahaha!

Hard to believe the market didn't get a relief rally AT ALL this week. There just has to be a rally next week, or this market is toast.

Placed half my brokerage account in SQQQ (triple downside Nasdaq 100) and made 12.5% this week, but I'm nervous about the market bouncing back next week. Perhaps I should have sold at today's close, but I'm gonna let it ride until there is a clear change in market direction.

The mood in Europe is doom and gloom, so we'll have to see if there are any developments over the weekend, good or bad, that will move the markets. Can't think of anything positive that might happen...

The number of stocks in the S&P500 above their 50 day moving average has fallen all the way down to 80. Usually when this gets below 100, it's is a pretty good indicator of a market bottom, but if you look at what happened in 2010, the market languished all summer long with numbers this low. Perhaps since this is an election year, things will be different. (?)

Good luck everyone!

Finally getting a little relief rally, but the problems in Greece, Spain, Italy, etc are not going away anytime soon. I suspect things will get much worse before they get better. If you're holding longs, consider selling into these rallies. Hang tight, this could be a rough summer...

JR, were did you find the picture? It is a great picture, but I'm pretty sure it is 3 seperate pictures made into one. The signature in the bottom left corner is something of a giveaway.

Would you believe...

someone posted it on twitter?

Yeah, I realize it's probably photoshopped, but the effect is stunning.

Gonna start building a portfolio of World Dominating Dividend Growers in my Roth IRA. I'd like to have ~ 8-10 stocks. Anyone have any suggestions for inclusion? Here's my short list, in no particular order:

1) KO
2) MO
3) MCD
4) WMT
5) MSFT
6) INTC
7) JNJ
8) XOM

Utilities such as Southern Company (SO) and have you thought about REITs such as Annaly Capital Management (NLY). The REITs are a little riskier but pay strong dividends as they are required to distribute a high % of their earnings (90% or so). Good luck!

I've got MO on my list of 10. It's been a rock through everything over the past year that I've been DCAing into it. I've also had similar satisfaction with DUK and T.

I think it would be cool if someone started a thread where we could all see each other's suggestions for buy and hold dividend stocks. I only have a year's experience though, so hesitate to list all of mine. Some stinkers in there.

Thinking of starting with MCD, simply because it has been beaten down pretty badly. I like the idea of buying things when they're a bargain.
